I don't watch F1, but I love racing and I think Codemasters does a fantastic job at racing games. So should I get this game. Will it not be fun if I don't know anything about F1?

If you love racing and love single seaters then it probably wont matter. The real people and teams just make it cool if you do watch it

I don't watch F1 on tv either but this game is very cool. A big step up from F1 2010 imo.

F1 is a funny one. If you dont make the effort to get to know the drivers, teams, strategies etc. you wont enjoy it. I never used to watch it much but now I cant miss a race, ill be getting F1 2011 just after xmas, its really cheap now too :D

PS. Pick a driver to support, it makes it more interesting 👍

The game will teach you the info on f1 , then you will probably want to watch it :)

That would be awesome. I think F1 is amazing but it's not on TV a lot, well it's not advertised at least.

It usually early in the morning due to different time zones. I record the races or they usually replay them a day later.

Awww I don't have a DVR or anything like that and I'm not a morning person.

I'm not a morning person either. The only race I watch live is Canada because we're in the same time zone. Next year there will be a race in Texas. So that should be on at a decent time.

I think that's 3-4 hours behind me, not sure though. If it falls know a school day (I obviously know nothing about when the season is or the days they race) that probably won't work.

Then again it's behind so...

The game will make you a F1 fan if not already. All practice, qualifying and races are live via Speed Network channel. If you have a smart phone there is a F1 app. It will let you know what and when each event is coming up. Also live timing. More precise then watching live on TV.

I have an android smart phone. What is the application called?

Go to Formula1.com 2011 and look for the live timing app.
It is over so look for an update to come out. Or you might need to wait for 2012 version to come out.

The game is designed to cater for both fans of the sport and casual gamers.

You can do full race weekends, with practice sessions, qualifying and a full length race. Or, you can do short weekends which I think involves a short run in qualifying and then the race. There are a variety of difficulty modes too, with driving aids for those who maybe don't own a wheel (Bordering on sim-like when you turn off all the driving aids).

The career mode involves racing for various teams, and you start off in one of the lower teams rather than Ferrari/Mclaren/Red Bull straight away. You work your way up as you get good results and get offers from various teams to race for them.

As a big F1 fan I really enjoy the game, but I think I could enjoy it otherwise. The only problem is the depth of the game may not be that great if you do not have an interest in F1 - It may become very repetitive very quickly.

Can't comment too much on the online mode, the only race I've ever attempted I timed out on the starting grid (Really frustrating, qualified on the front row :()

F1 races are always on weekends. The earliest they are I think is 12 AM Saturday Nights (for races in Korea, Suzuka and Australia) and the latest they are is 7 AM Sunday Mornings (for almost all European Races and Singapore). The race in Canada, Brazil and Texas will be on at 12 PM CT in 2012.

I would love to watch live F1 racing but I don't have the Speed channel anymore. Thanks Comcast! :grumpy:

That's very helpful I definitely want it. I don't play racing garden online much because the immatures who crash instead of race.

Ask for repetition, I used to play NASCAR games. F1 has nothing on NASCAR there.

Also, I know DiRT 3 has a YouTube upload feature, does 2011 have the same? I know there are a lot of menu and feature type things that foresters games share, if you know what I mean.

Word? I'll have to check this out but last time I looked Speed wasn't available to me. I have the basic package too.

Maybe something changed. We Used to have basic channels and it was included but we got a free one year upgrade about 8 months ago... Maybe something changed.

Hells yeah mate you should buy it. I wasn't a big fan of F1 but the game really gets you involved in the sport, go ahead and take the plunge. You'll grow to love it

I wasn't an F1 fan. I watched this, and then soon after my first download for my PS3 was F1 Championship edition. Found the same car (More or less. Same livery anyways) on the game, used it a couple times. Bought the game, and I haven't missed an F1 race since.

The AI is pretty decent in this game, it makes for fast and very competitive racing. And the Addition of DRS and KERs as boost buttons, and the various options, it makes for a great racing game.

Yet, Legend AI is definitely tuned for manual gearbox. You can easily beat them by up to 5 seconds per lap, depending on the track, if you're using the automatic gearbox. :)

Got my new wheel today, so will try to get used to manual gears. Any advice, trackwise? Thought about a 100% race in Montreal, all the fast corners combined with some very slow corners might make a good practice.

I basically have every corner memorized in terms of what gear I should be in when at the entry. I also never use the HUD or screen to tell me what gear I am in. I developed a way of doing that internally which doesn't distract me in game. It's been a very useful tool to carry over to other racing games.

Also surprised to hear you say that about auto gears, as I'm a couple of seconds faster without them myself. I think you will soon find that you can also control oversteer and braking much more effectively in the game when using manual shifting.
