Don't We Get One Mistake?

This guy's served four years as the attorney general of South Dakota, sixteen years as governor, and has served two years as the US Senator - he blows one stop sign in the country and it looks like it'll cost him just about everything - they're considering giving him second-degree manslaughter and reckless driving (the latter of which he probably deserves) for killing a motorycyclist with his car. He was doing 70-75 MPH in a 55 zone when it happened which isn't really so bad (15 over in a rural area - who hasn't done that?).

I think we should all be able to use a 'one mistake' clause - let somebody be the judge of whether it's a real mistake - to be able to get out of one thing in our lives. Who's with me?

this guy has had MULTIPLE accidents especially with motorists...
in 3 years hes gotten 12 tickets.. i think sometime around '94
heh, dont ask how i know, the t.v at my work is set to cnn...
 
He should get second-degree manslaughter charges, vehicular manslaughter, etc. Whatever he can be charged with he should be charged with. He won't, though, because he's above the law.:rolleyes: He had 12+ tickets in 4 years to being elected governor, and he's now magically had zero since. Hmm.

It pisses me off in this article where it says, "the cyclist was not wearing a helmet. That's the major thing.". What a crock of horse crap. The major thing is the fact that the innocent motorcyclist would still be alive had the asshole not ran a stop sign, and killed him.

I see, and read, about stuff like this all the time where cars collide with bikers, and get away scotch free. I hope they make an example out of him, and stick it to him hard. I hope he becomes somebodies ***** in prison.

Whatever - I don't like Bangle or his designs, I'll simply defend them to the death. You're the one who likes the Sunfire and Cavalier, so what does your opinion matter?

Running a stop sign and flattening an innocent (albeit stupid) motorcyclist is a bit beyond using up your "Chance" card. Sorry.

Never. Ever. Not once, in 23 years of driving. I have been caught out by yellow lights that changed to red as I was physically UNDER them, but I have never gone through one that was red before I entered the intersection.

I have. I've never done it intentionally that I can recall. It was always behing some tree limbs sticking out that needed to be trimmed, or I was just too drunk to see it clearly.:odd:

I disagree - I really think deaths caused in motor accidents aren't treated anywhere nearly severely enough, particularly in instances of drunkeness, unlicensed or reckless driving. The Stop sign was there for a specific purpose - to stop people from driving out in front of others and causing accidents.

I recognise his 'service' to society, but that is an issue more appropriate for sentencing, not in laying initial charges

The drunk part was a joke. Doug always insists that I'm drunk so I thought I'd throw that out there for 'em.

I've never driven drunk. I'm a big fan of locking drunk people's keys in their car when they're drunk.👍

Yes, and no. I was coming back from paying my tuition for college, and was on my way home. It was on 502 or 41 near the 'Mepkin Abby 6(miles)' sign.

Dude - I just said I don't like Bangle, I find his designs mediocre - but I'll defend him (just because of people like you - you know about mid-1980s domestic cars and yet find time to know everything about car styling since you know what's ugly and what isn't - you're not in the market for a Bangle BMW so just shut up). Arguing with you is like a volleyball - there's no point.

Speeding isn't a mistake - 12 tickets in four years, pah - I got like eleventy in two weeks on my brilliant road trip. His mistake was killing the biker.

His mistake was running the stop sign. I'll forgive him for that. I won't, however, forgive him for killing the innocent biker. I hope a judge won't either.

His mistake was thinking that he was above the law. Which, apparently, is the image he tried to project. Reality is a grey-haired b*tch, eh?

He was only speeding! When you speed, do you think you're above the law? Just because he's a senator doesn't mean he's thinking he's above the law - everybody thinks that's always the case with these people, and rarely is that true.
