Double give-away possible?

So, a friend of mine has a car he really wants me to test out, but it's fully modified and tuned. We're afraid if we double give it away, he will lose all of the parts and tuning. Is it possible to give away, test, and give it back using give away? Without losing anything?
 
The mods stay on and I'm fairly sure the tune is the same, just in case, make a note of the tune settings.

Alternatively I think he can set it as an "online car" (Next to where you set favorites when you press Triangle on the garage list highlighting the car) and you can drive it without transferring it.

Not sure how you use it though, not tried it.
