Double item

I experience sometimes that things of the same name a double, in item lists, what can I do to solve this problem.
I apologize if this has been answered before, did not know what to look for

Happens from time to time, especially if you trade a lot. Sadly there is no fix.

It's especially bad with paints and gear.

Just delete them! Lol, I went on a deletion spree a couple days ago, deleted 800 paints and 50 horns.. on your horns and paints you can hold, I believe, R1 and select multiple items and just highlight everything you want gone then press the delete button! There is a legend at the bottom of the screen that shows u which buttons to hold and press.

I just gift them instead of deleting I give away free stuff to my friends just because I hardly ever trade I just give out free stuff

Lol yeah that works too but it's hard to get rid of all that crap when you get 10 free paint chips each day and can only gift 5 :/

Should this method work with a wheel? When I hold R1 the cursor jumps down several spaces but nothing is selected. I have tried holding R1 with and without pressing down on the D-pad simultaneously.

Also, regarding separate items with the same name: For paints anyway, if you get two paints with the same name from different manufacturers, they are listed as separate items. Don't really know why PD does it this way, but once in a while those two paint items will have a slightly different tint to them

That you have different paint colors, can happen because of the make of the car.
A Lexus Brilliant Black and a Camaro Brilliant Black, would give you 2 different chips in your inventory list.
Gear has a "tradeable" (be won at seasonals) and DLC version (not tradeable).

Yep, I'm in that boat.
I generally do send paint chips away to friends I think might like them.
(For example, if I know someone favours a particular paint chip colour.)

I wish you could just put things up for auto-trade or something. Like here's my stuff you can TAKE if you want it! (ie: Please take this!!!)
