I like this thread, it takes you back and it makes you feel like its been years.

Hey Kenny i was planning on writing 'Bazzinga' too. Bazzinga!!

Four or so years ago, I realised, racing online is utterly pointless due to my net connection being better than most and realising that from the fact I tree people online but my 1/4 times are garbage. Same story applies on this game too. Open your eyes.

Someone is a Negative Nelly.

Haha I started high hp 1/4 and got bored so now do Hondas and 3000

Well, I bought gt5 a few months after it came out and started doing a-spec events for about a month, then I watched The Fast And The Furious and i really started to like drag racing after that. so i went online and saw a drag room at Circuit De La Sarthe. After losing time and time again i quit drag racing. a while later i was stuck at one of the a-spec events (i forget which one) so i Google'd how to beat it... and then i discovered GTPlanet. After doing a few trades in the marketplace i saw that there was a drag racing forum. After reading all of the drag racing guilds here i saw why i was losing before and i started to get back into drag racing. Then i started reading the comments and learning a bit from all the great tuners on here i am slowly getting better at drag racing.

well where the hell do i start? Once apon a time back in 2010 i bought GT5 and Being a gt dam fell in love with it instantly, one day while doin a speci started to get bored with it so i thought I'd check out this thing called online lol, anyway i join this room on ssr7 with nothing but a 599 which aint to bad, so i go out onto the track not relising that aids where turned off lol and rolled up to the line against a lambo 640, boom off we go and instantly my wheels just spin and i get nowhere fast lol so i went back a thought there's gotta be a way to stop this wheel spin. Anyway after a few day i figured out how to stop most of the wheel spin and went into another room with my ego as high as a kite lol and net mafia for the time, he was running a viper SRT 10 and he wiped me out and my ego went with it Haha. Then i met cooldude and found out that him and mafia were in a team called GME, after a few runs with these boys who were faster than me cooldude brought out an enzo, so i got Mine and he smashed me senseless lol. So i went back and re tuned over and over and over till not only was i beating cooldudes enzo people said i had the fastest enzo they'd ever seen in the tunnel. And i was very happy with what i came up with. A few days later mafia saw i had potential and offered me a place in GME. Ever since then we've been developing our cars faster and faster while trying to help as many as we could. And now here we are today a strong team who love to help people and we always will. Now me and mafia are joint boss monkeys and were very proud of our team :) sorry for any spelling errors im on my phone lol

Not sure how much I'll be on this week. Have an exam on Saturday :groans: but I'll try and organise a few runs with the 3000 boys :)

It's hitting 259 no sweat and the transmission is flipped a little better now. I'm still perfecting my launch and shift to 3 tho, but I beat cool by a few cars (he has no wing)

Been playing GT since the beginning and only playing your normal way without any drag or drift which I think wasn't possible till GT4. Took a looooong layoff because I got hooked on Call of Duty online. Picked up GT5 Jan. 2012 used and it still sat on the shelf till my son pulled it out in March 2012. He's 11 and I saw him trying to drift! That got me back into it and off MW3 (can't even stand playing that for long anymore).

DRAG... So I'm exactly a week into it. I would ask for tuning help in the drag rooms and some would act like snobs, some would be smartasses, and some would give advice. The best advice was to go to GTP and that's how I ended up here!

Since I know setups and have a lot of race history in real life I knew the suspension setups and basic gearing. I'm still having trouble finding that sweet spot though where I can keep my shifts within a motors powerband. That's prolly what keeps me out of the 8 second club!!! My best times on SSRX is 9.10 in my LeMans R8 (broken in) and in my GTR TC R35 (not broken in).

I found some public tunes which got me to maybe 9.4's so I did some tweaking to susp and trans. I'm about mid pack I would say. I'm for sure not the part of the fastest and I'm sure not anywhere near the slowest. I can hold my own in a room.

Started out a little over a year ago when I wanted to see how fast my FGT would go offline at Sarthe and was disappointed, I then went online and was blown away how fast people got their cars. I would always go into a room called "Will's Wide Open Drags" at Sarthe. Learned a lot about not using aids like traction control and how wheel spin is ok to have, I obsessed for 2 weeks about eliminating wheel spin in my Enzo :dunce:.

I eventually migrated to the tunnel and raced casually there for a few months. My Enzo, no stripe and Veyron were decent but always 1 or 2 car lengths behind the pros. I then gave Indy a try with my tunnel cars and beat the noobs ( I was a noob too) but getting killed by anyone fast. I also liked the faster paced racing at Indy, it was also much easier to find a room with more organization so I gave up the tunnel and retuned for Indy and never looked back.

Reading the forums here has really helped my tunes, it was just 1 thread only a month ago where Master_Shake, Trybal and Gvesho518 were discussing transmissions that helped me the most and I'm still in the process of retuning my transmissions. Anyway, that's my story. I just wish I had more time to play.

2010-
Bought game on launch day. Decided to go online and found myself racing SSR7 doing laps in my ZR1. Next time I went to a SSR7 room we did drag but not from the tunnel, from the middle of the track where the bridge beams start. After that, I noticed people running in the tunnel doing "so-called quarter" to the first set of lights. This is where I met a bunch of cool people to run with like MC Ramer, Sevion, and Schwartzeneger2.

2011- (too much info but will keep it short)
Started running 1/4 at Monza where I met IROCXXXX doing muscle drags. Bounced back and forth between Monza, High Speed Ring, and Fuji racing 1/4, this is when I met a fella named lllRAVENlV, one of the fastest guys ever. Finally found Indy somehow and I met Clay84Thomas who left TTK, Co-Founder of the first 1/4 team on GT5. Next, took a break from the game. Then I hung out with Team Elements, ded84 and eightlives and eventually that team became Team Solo, I remember the team picking up a hitman named gvrules (former TTK member) after PSN was back online.

2012-
Team Solo and The Legion Of Brotherhood joined forces and gave birth to The Solo Brotherhood.
Started getting bored with game of late, my women seems to be happier. Recently got into 3K which has revived me a little... My time is precious though!

I'd like to thank a few people for some big tips and help in chronological order.
Schwartzenneger2
lllRAVENlV
Clay84thomas
ded_84
eightlives1981
gvrules
SnipesR1
Smokeyx562 aka ??????
and if I forgot anyone, you did nothing hahaaa... Just joking

I helped many random people along the way and will keep doing so no matter what my TEAM thinks!

edit- I played all GT games except GT3 if memory serves me correct.

Ahhhhh its grand ol story. Well... i guess the logical place to start would be the original Gran Turismo for the ps1. I was probably around 6ish when i picked up the controller at my neighbors house. They were from Cambodia... and they all had cool cars. The oldest had 3 Eclipse's... (one of each...a Gsx...gst.. and a spyder) and he had a Toyota MR2... and the youngest had a 3000gt vr4.... and thats what got me into cars. Got a ps1 for my birthday later that year and started on the journey. 1035 bhp Supra's... yeah buddy. Dont really remember GT2 the much... i know i played the 🤬 out of it because it was 2 disks.

I start a new paragraph for Gt3 a spec because thats where my addiction to Gran Turismo started. I was 11 when it launched... got a Ps2 and Gt3 for Christmas.... and went to town. Those were the good old days... where you could grind one race and it gave you x amount of credits and a car to sell ever time you won. I remember trying my hardest to get my little Toyota mr2 over 220mph lol.... then came the most dominate actual car in any gran turismo until the vayron.... the escudo... witch i used to destroy everything and make all the money i could ever need.

Then the story gets sad. My first ps2 died (or so i thought) when i was trying to clean the lens. (the ribbon that connects the power button came out... witch is actually really easy to fix.... but i was young.) So i got a slim... now...anybody who knows PlayStation's knows... those were garbage... and worse yet... it was from a pawn shop. It destroyed my gt3 disk... and refused to read 8 different copys of GT4... so i never got to play that great game. And so it went... the only game that POS slim would read was madden 08... so thats what i played for years.... but all i craved was Gran Turismo... but i couldnt play it.

Then came 2010.... i was making good money doing landscaping... so i finally broke down and got a Ps3... expecting that gt5 was already out...but it wasent... lol so i got a host of other games to bide my time until GT5 came out. Then at last... after moving snow for 12 hours... i went to wal mart at 6 am the day it launched and purchased my favorite game series of all time. I sold off all the games I bought and started down the journey.

When i first started playing... i was just focusing on the a-spec events... I was level 30 before i went online. When i got online... I started drifting... because... well lets face it... I live in a place where its snowy 6-8 months out of the year and i drive a RWD 5 speed Ford Ranger... im sideways constantly lol. But i was always running low on money.... then... i saw a room at SSR7 that said "money and xp glitch" and i was sold. 20mil a night.... but then they patched it... so back to drifting.

Then i saw a Nurburgring glitch... and thats where i ran into crashthebash.... but i didnt have an x1.... then... 2 days later... the outage. So i tweaked out on b spec and got to level 35 b spec and got my x1 while the PSN was down... and did all the variations of that glitch (getting bashed into a wall by a Bugatti or tank car.... glitching yourself in... ect..) after the network came back up. But then... after 3 months of grinding the glitch no stop... they finally killed it... but they gave us seasonal events.

At that point... crash and i started drag racing at indy.... and well... im still dragging at the back of indy....just a lot faster lol. Lethal was formed from a want to have a good group of guys that were all easy going and had fun and hate the drama that is 90% of the indy rooms.... and here we are...1 year and 140 days after I got the game... and I havent played anything else since. Ive met a lot of cool people along the way...and some not so cool to say it nicely.... but this game is probably one of the greatest game series ever created.... and im glad to be able to share it with yall. Cheers

Heh, I missed this thread completely.

Where to start...

When I was little, I played GT/GT2 on PS1, then got GT3 and a PS3. Somewhere in here I have memories of doing so much gearing tuning to a Cougar in GT2 that it would lose about .050 over the 1/4 mile if I adjusted the final drive by 0.001 using automatic. It was still very slow (12s I think lol) but I knew nothing and probably had everything done as wrong as possible.

GT3 I didn't do any drag tuning, or really any tuning at all, just sorta derped around with easy races to get more cars.

Somewhere in here I picked up the game that named me, Tokyo Xtreme Racer 3. Beat all but two rivals at one point (the two with stupid high money requirements), made a GameFaqs account under the name of Rotary_Junkie_R and the name carried over when I started playing GT4 and posting in the GT4 boards. That eventually led to me joining GTP, which led me into the tuning forum. Then MFT opened and not long after inspired me to start doing my own circuit tuning (I was pretty bad at it). After a while I got into drag and top speed tuning, wound up being the first to prove the Spec-C could hit 300mph (though either I-Runner or MasterStorm had already done it, just hadn't pointed it out), as well as the non Spec-C though I don't believe I ever did a proof pic.

Also started drag tuning a bit, wound up focusing on the RX-7. First it was the '92 RZ, then I started monkeying around with all the others and settled on the Spirit R, which I wound up fighting MadMax86 and mcsqueegy for the record, wound up being the first into the 8.0s, a record which still stands... But might be defeatable. I should fire up GT4 and see if I can.

GT5 was a new game for me and my interest in drag tuning was completely squashed at first by the lack of a speed test, then squashed by the fact I wasn't really figuring out tunnel runs all that well. Anyway, SSRX came out, I figured it out, got quick, PS3 died for the 2nd time.

Now I... Well, I can still blind-tune with the best but that's not saying a whole hell of a lot. Should track down my GT4 disc, fire it up, and reset my RX-7 rec...

I bought my 69 Falcon for $500 in cherry condition sans and engine. I then found a fresh 351w out of a 69 mach 1 for $500. With the time and parts I have nearly $5000 into the car but it still isn't running yet. Oh well. I still have it though. I'm having the exhaust and interior done by a pal. It should be done soon.

Meanwhile I've picked up a 74 Chevy Luv for $500 with a 350. That 350 was weak and tired so I bought a 355 all built up for about $800. With parts and my labor I'm in it at about $2500. This truck is bad. I was on the freeway when a nasty looking Lexus came blasting through traffic. Right when he got next to me I dropped into second mashed the pedal. He was on it too, I know because our eyes met. I didn't even get into 3rd gear, but it looked like he stopped in the middle of the freeway. Later I come to find out that this Lexus that I ran was built to about 450hp. I have had some other successful encounters around town an on the freeway.

I have yet to get it to the track to get a legitimize time, but my gps says low 12s. I'm running open diff, so when I get a rear end and some tire I'll easily be in the 11s. Then it'll be time for some nitrous... Hahaha.

As a little kid, I grew up loving the Gran Turismo series until I lost interest when all my old PS2 discs broke. I bought more copies and they broke too because I was playing it way too much. On April 29, 2012, reunited with Gran Turismo after Need for Speed didn't fill my racing interest. I started drag racing in GT5 on May 9 and joined GTPlanet looking for some advice. I opened up my tuning garage on May 29 trying to help out GTPLANET's new drag tuners but it came to be a big fail as on June 24 I closed my garage permanently after discovering my "tune" was KaroSVTR's. I also was denied entrance to Team Hydro.
So here I am, thinking I am washed up. My support for Hydro is basically an obsession now. On July 6 I was accepted into Team Hydro as an honorary member, I was really stunned by this as everyone puts me at the bottom of the world. I am getting better and better at tuning as time goes on, and hopefully I can live up to my high expectations.

Started the night it came out. No individual gear customization yet.

Used different tracks, from la sarthe to the ferrari track-monza?

Ended up discovering SSR7 and even then we didnt even use the tunnel yet. Ran right where the game drops you, by the bridge.

Found the tunnel and blew up from there.

I think the original drag racers started from the tunnel, the awe of long straights just attracted a lot of straight line racers. And because no one had a track with a close to accurate representation of 1/4 mile till someone measured Indy
