Drag Strip?

I managed to make one in death valley and another in Eifel flat. The only problem is the length of the track, which is very hard, if not impossible, to get a precise value (400 m, 1000 m, and so on).

Edit: It's a weird shape, but was the only way I figured out how to make a decent drag strip.

Yeah I couldn't get the metres right, not that I am going for 100% accurate track but it would be nice to get some kind of true length

I did a drag strip that's one mile from start to finish and that has got gates marking every 1/4 mile. It's accurate down to 1 meter, and has got a split time at 1/2 mile.

When you lay the curbs (or other track objects) you can see how many meters from the start of the track the center of the marker is. The track starts at the beginning of the start straight, so you first need to measure the distance from the start of the track to the start line. Then just add the length of the drag strip to that.

Example: Let's say that the start line is at 476 meters. The quarter mile marker then needs to be placed at 476+402 = 878 meters. Next marker 402 meters from that point, etc. etc.

Split times seems to always be placed on endpoints, so if you place an endpoint at the 1/2 mile mark, then the split time should be placed there are well. The finish line is placed at a fixed distance from the end of the track, so just move the final endpoint forwards or backwards until you have the finish line at the exact distance you want.

Yeah... well, these that I made, work for me. It's just a way to compare stock cars in a equal environment.

Thanks a lot eran0004, I'll try it later and your version of Hockenheim.

Hockenheim isn't mine though :) I linked from a friend's community page, because I couldn't get the link to work from my own page for some reason...
