Sorry for making my very first post a flat out "help me"

As of this morning, I am level 17 in GT5 and I am getting my butt handed to me in drag races. I've gotten my friend to gift me his Ferrari 458 Italia that was slightly modified to 600hp (i think), but I can't win a damn thing.:grumpy:
Could any of you pro draggers help me out a bit? I wanted to start off with either a Skyline or an Evo style car as the base. What parts should I use and the tuning of the suspension, trans, aero, and all of that other stuff would make for a great drag car would be greatly appreciated.

Am not a drag racer, but its logical to choose cars with high hp and low weight.

As for tuning, tranny settings (gear ratios) lowering topspeed helps increase acceleration. Fully tune your car to max specs, no downforce, minimum height and 0 on the camber/toe etc. Of course such settings will make the car useless in corners.

I'm sure there's more you can do, this is all I could think of, off the top of my head. Hope it helps.

Do you think that one of you could friend me (XxFlippin0xX) and show me what you mean because I don't understand the transmission line things.

theres nothing to understand....

only set the max speed lower for this you dont need ANY skill

and theres no way to show some of the settings.... you have to record and upload it as a video

would say thats a too much work for reduce the topspeed in transmission settings ^^

You could send me the car and i can change the settings for yoi but it will be a few days or maybe more before I can send you back because I've got a few trades to do. Or i could share the car once I've changed the settings so you can drive it.

You do know how to change the gear settings, right? Just go to where it says top speed and just lower the top speed.

.......
I thought you had to adjust those lines.
wow, i completely wasted about 30min lol

Which car do you think I should tune? The skyline or the Evo?
Skyline NUR '02: 276hp and 1560kg stock
Evolution X '07: 276hp and 1540kg

Do you have to use one of those cars? If not there are probably better cars for drag racing.

I just like the look and feel of the evo and skyline. Pretty much the cars I choose from are based upon their look and performance I could get out of it. Don't worry, I feel stupid just saying this
With the evo, I adjusted the speed down to 112mph.

All joking aside on my part don't feel bad for being partial to certain cars because you like the way they look. Just be aware that they may not be the best car in the or real life for that matter for a given race.
Example: '66-67 AC Cobra is one of my all time favorite cars, but in the game I can only drive and win with it at Daytona as it likes to spin out on me in corners.

As for which of those two cars is best you need to do a max modification of both to determine which has the best power to weight ratio.

Also check in the tuning forums there are "experts" there with tunes for this sort of thing.

I'm not an expert, I'm just crazy

The evo is lighter so it would have the better power to weight ratio. Fully tune them both, then give us the power and weight for both cars and we'll tell you which one is better.

Max out both cars and tell me how much weight/HP they have. Also buy Racing soft tires because they have more grip.

Why are you crazy?

I spend 4-5 hours every night 7 days a week 365 days a year driving 100+ miles over all sorts of road and weather conditions to deliver newspaper's to people for a living. Then when I finish driving for work what do I do? Get on GT5 for a few hours just to relax you know

If I had the money, I would do that. Right now, I only hake 2k
Oh my god, I just got 100k and spent it on the engine. I said not to install the stage 1, stage 2, and when I bought the stage 3, it wouldnt let me install it. I went into all the parts I had for the evo, and they aren't there. 100k, well spent

Get a Kei car and win a few races at Eifel track in seasonal.
Gives you 101,000 Cr per win and race takes about 3 minutes to complete.

Huh, quite funny guys, "high hp", "low weight". Drag tuning is more complex than that, i can tell you. You can have a 1000 hp TVR, but if it isnt tuned, a 600 hp car can beat it at 1/4 indy. You all got to learn that it depends what you are racing with. Fair plays guys, every single car can be turned into a drag car. Will you benefit if you have a 1000 hp car, that weights 900 kg? Well, you wont, if you are racing a similar car that is tuned better.

If you want help with drag tuning, look at tuning section, there are several threads discussing transmission and suspension, for drag racing as well. You will find most information there.

ok, thank you. I'll take a look
Specs of the Evo:
502hp
1247kg
415ft-lb of torque
1998cc Displacement (What?)

What do you think of this? I'll turn down the Max mph and do the suspension, and aero stuff in a little bit
How should I adjust the LSD?
Front..................Rear
10....initial torque....10
40.....Accel Sens.....40
2o.....Brake sens.....20
what should the numbers be?

This only applies when you are stationary. When you are stationary, and on the screen it says: 3, 2, 1 go!!..Rev the engine after one. Just before you start.

^Doesn't apply to rolling starts. For rolling starts just floor it and go. BTW am I right? If you hit the gas just after 1 its better than revving it fully before 1, isn't it? I'm just guessing but if you look at the specs it tells you at what RPM you get the HP. If you rev the car at that RPM it's better than revving it fully, right?

Nice now u can destroy drags of 1/16 mile or lower

You can't make the top speed too low. Make it so it reaches the top speed right at the end. You don't want to be sitting at the redline for half of the time.
