Is it just me... :nervous:
Why the heck is the Jaguar XJR-9 LM Race Car in the Dream Car Championship. (All the other cars seem to belong in this one, but out of the blue, they have this 1000 BHP LM car that just Rinses everything else)...

I wish they would take this Jaguar monster out (& put it in the 'Like the Wind' race where it belongs) 💡
 
Isn't it like that in most of the series (having 1 dominant opponent), only it is just really predominant here.

Yeah... Kinda, ( I mean you got the Toyota 7 & Chapparel 2J that own the Historical Race). But i feel they belong in this one.

The Jag XJ9 would slot perfectly into the 'Like the Wind' Race dont you think ?
 
what car are you using? I did fine with a toyota minolta

Havn't done those races in a few months, so don't remember. But I think the way the races are set up, you really only end up having 1 or 2 cars which actually compete for the win. It would have been better if there were tighter restrictions and if all the AI cars were much closer in spec.
 
Thing is, if the XJR-9 wasn't in the race it would be much more fun to pit in other cars against each other.

As it stands, if you wanted a good race, you'd either have to pray that it doesn't show up, or just use a car that out classes all the cars BUT the XJR-9.
 
I beat it in the F1 GTR. Citroen GT Race car would also dust it.

Winning it isn't a Problem, (I won this Series originally with the Zonda R), its more as a driving experience, i kinda like racing some cars that compete with the likes on the Ford GT LM cars & the Zonda LM cars
 
Man, I've just been doing dream car championship to grind A spec Xp and earn cash, using an X1, but do see what your getting at, It can be hard to have a "good" race when you want to use a car similar in performance to the others, then only to find one ridiculously overpowered weapon that you need to contend with.

It would make sense if the game just pulled cars of PP and types (race or street, country,car type) maybe? with tyre restrictions?

I think a major problem is that GT tries puts cars of different classes in the same race. The Jaguar is a group C car while the Ford and the Zonda are LM GT race cars. Different classes.
 
I thought the Dream Car Championship was about cars that didn't exist in real life. So then the Jaguar comes along and blows that away.....
 
And it's insane how the XJR-9 has 900+ HP and the next car up has about 650-ish.

With that said, the most evenly balanced race in the game has to be the DTM races and the Super GT. Even if you could dust the AI.

Then again like the actual championship, ballast handicaps do exist. :D

I agree, the Jag doesn't belong there.

I'm not sure why, but PD likes to do this -- put one monster in the field. In GT4, you'd have this classic car championship at the 'Ring, and every car would be something like a little Alfa Romeo or a Mini Marcos, then they'd throw in the '66 Cobra. So you'd have this epic race of low power European sports cars all set up, and you'd have to find some vintage beast to contend with the Cobra. Sucked the fun right out of it.
 
Lately, I've been doing this using lower powered cars (e.g. JGTC ~450hp) and XJR-9 really spoils it. So, I keep restarting until I get a lineup without it. Once I do, it is quite enjoyable and is a good money maker while having a good race.

If the XJR-9 is in there and gets out in front, there is no catching it. If you use a car that can catch it, then it becomes too easy.

Add the NASCAR series to that as well, since all the cars are supposed to be equal.

I'd hardly say dust it at all. I used the Citroen GT Race Car to beat Dream Car and it was a defensive battle to keep the Jag behind me. If I didn't block the hell out of him I would have lost pretty easily.
 
If it rains at Nurburgring, the Jaguar always finishes lower than 5th :)

Hopefully PD can fix this glitch, as it should not be very hard to iron out. Usually, I just quit out if the XJR-9 shows up.
 
Yes, the Jag is an aggravating little bugger. I hate seeing it in the rearview mirror.

It's really like the S2000 GT1 Turbo in the Tuning Car championship, the 2J in the Historical events and the R8 LMS in the 4HR Nurburgring race. It upsets the balance of the races and really reduces the number of interesting competitive cars you can pick for those races.

It's a lame and stupid move by PD and only proves *again* that they don't do real world testing with actual gamers rather than with bug-searchers and beta-testers prior to release. It's yet another sign of lousy quality control.
 
It's a shame that it's like that really, it makes it harder to have a competitive race with the rest of the field.

The thing is, the S2000 and the 2J/Toyota 7 can actually make for some fun racing. The Dream Car Championship is completely broken whenever the Jaguar shows up, especially considering the AI's tendencies to pit for no reason and then travel at warp speed to catch up.
 
Ya, that event was hard for me too, but i just used my Corvette '09 and cut off the Jaguar until the finish line.

Beating it is no problem, the problem is when you want to use a competitive car, you have to choose whether to be competitive and lose, or overpowered, bored, and win. The Jag destroys the other AI cars, so you either just race against him, or you race against everyone and lose to him.

The FORD GT LM SPEC2 runs just as fast and sometimes faster than the JAG. No sure how or why but it does. Doesn't the 787B run the series sometimes as well?
 
Both Ford GT race cars are known to beat the XJR-9. The rain is a serious handicap for it as well. I've seen the Jag go as far as finish in 7th in the Nurburgring one time, behind the NSX-R LM.

But yes, I totally agree. I've been grinding the Dream Car Championship a lot, as the tracks are some of my favorites to drive, but when I want a good, even race, it's no fun when one overpowered car in the entire field compromises your decisions.
