I feel the same way about the car selection in the B-Spec remote races. I love doing the muscle car race at Laguna Seca and seeing the American classics race each other, but knowing that the race is going to be won by a Cobra sucks some of the fun out of it. I hate knowing that my B-Spec Buddy is going to lose before the green flag even drops.

Look on the bright side, it gives you one and only one car to look out for when you've pulled into the lead.
 
I absolutely hate that damn Jaguar. As soon as I won my X2010, I went to the Dream Car Championship and bashed that thing into the walls over and over again. It's hard to get me to hate a car, but that is a car that I can't stand to even see. It got to the point where I saw it in the UCD and passed on it because I hated it...
 
On a YouTube video a guy did a race with "race" cars and then a Red Bull X2010 appeared and got first so fast that you would have a semi-hard time to find.

Hahaha, i like this very much. The car does seem very out of place.
 
Should have replaced the Jaguar with the Mazda Furai Concept '08.

The event should have been in Expert with Gran Turismo All-Star being in Extreme; then they should have dropped the Jaguar XJR-9 LM Race Car '88 with previously said car.

That being said, I don't see the hate on the car. It did win Le Mans in 1988.
 
It does seem a bit stupid that they have a Group C Le Mans car racing in a series with much slower cars.

That said the AI drives it slow, i completed this event with a stock Mclaren F1 road car, can't remember what tyres. Racing hards or sports softs most likely.
 
The oddest thing about GT5 is that they don't have a Group C LM race, or an LMP race.

Although there's still that 24HR Le Mans, it still pits cars that are so uneven against each other.

The Jag still will stomp you if you used a car equal to the rest of the compeition.

That is wrong, because the AI drives it slow. I used the Mclaren F1 road car unmodified, as i stated in the last post. Loads of people have done this without needing to use a racing car.
 
^ is right. I beat the series with a tuned Furai. Came up 1st on all the events 2 or 3 seconds ahead of the jag except in the Nurb when I was passed up in the long straight before the finish line.

Overkill with the Minolta when I beat it the first time.

Yeah, but you know guys, the point is, if the Jaguar WASN'T in that race, you could use a much slower car and actually have competition with a whole field of cars instead of just one rabbit. The inclusion of the XJ9R was a poor decision.

Mind you I understand that you can beat the Jag, but something that would make the race somewhat challenging is quite hard to find.
 
Now that there are Performance Points in the game it's a no-brainer to add PP restrictions to the events. And it would also be simple to equalize the AI cars using PPs.

But I also see the logic of having a rabbit in each event. It makes gold much harder than silver. The most fun I had in Prologue was coming from the back in S10, trying to get past all the normal cars as quickly as possible and then trying to catch the Tuned Vette that always ran away.

For it to be logical, it has to be internally consistent. A real-life Group C car showing up in a field of entirely PD-created GT and touring cars is not consistent, just like the various races where that '69 Corvette shows up against a bunch of modern sports cars isn't.
 
The XJR-9 is one of the worse Le Mans race cars and the MINOLTA you win from Like the Wind is not only superior, but the AI does not drive well so the inclusion of the XJR-9 is not an issue or a poor decision.

Yeah you're only the second person in this thread to point out that not only is the Jag (usually) a lot quicker than the rest of the field, it's also the only real car in the field, which makes it look like an error.

It is sometimes beaten by the Fords (the "test car" is usually the best of those) and occasionally the Zonda, in B-Spec anyway and especially in rain, but it generally nails it.

Funny how some people are saying it's a crappy car though, yet to really test mine in GT5 but in GT4 it was awesome, very very fast but a bit of a handful admittedly.

Yeah, and if I wanted to just burn through the race with no effort I wouldn't even do it in A-Spec. :rolleyes:

Because of the way the race is set up now, I can't enter a car I think I could be competitive in against the overwhelming majority of the field (like a GT500 car) because the Jag is there, and at the same time I can't enter a car that I could compete with the Jag with because I would destroy the rest of the field and I would destroy the Jag in a wet race.
So it is in fact both an issue and a poor decision, though as Tyger mentions above, it is likely one made by mistake.

I think the Jag is in this event because the name features the words "LM Race Car".
 
I've never seen a DCC without a Jauar XJR-9.
And I know what your point is - still, it's possble to win with stock McLaren F1/Zonda R.
But, look at the starting grid - all LM cars.
Ok you might think...the Jaguar is a LM car just like the rest of the grid but the problem is that the game doesn't make a difference between, let's say Camaro LM and Jaguar XJR-9.
In real life LM cars are divided in classes.
In GT5 all LM cars are in the same class.
And that's why we get XJR-9 in DCC.
 
I got annoyed with it and eventually got lucky when I went back to try it again, and it wasn't in the championship when I golded it all.

I'm Pretty sure ALL the cars in this 'Dream Car Championship' are GT Class LeMans cars. EXCEPT for this darn '88 Jag LM car (Which was a Group C LeMans car that went up against the likes of the Minolta Toyota, Nissan R92 etc...

I wish PD would take this car out - As when the Jag isn't in there, this Race is great fun
