okay, i still don't get the concept of drifting. say that there a left turn coming up and your going to drift do you hold on the brake and turn the car to the side? and keep holdin the brake? can some1 plz help me.
Okay. When the left turn is coming, this is what I do:
1.
Brake late and turn into corner. As soon as I brake late, that means that I want the rear end of the car to swirve outside of the turn. Then I turn into the corner as hard as I can. As a reaction, the car would let it's rear end loose and start to oversteer. As soon as that happens, then I want to keep the car in that position.
2.
Balance countersteer and throttle. Since the car is oversteering now, I want the car to stay in that position throughout the turn, so I would keep the car in the same position. KEY: use the timer in the upper right hand corner to make sure that the car is staying in the same position throughout the drift.
Depending on the kind of drivetrain that you are using: FF, FR, MR, 4WD; there are different ways to drift those.
FF:
To begin to drift, just hold the emergency brake and turn into the corner. Try to balance the throttle, the countersteer, and the emergency brake. That's the hard part.
FR:
Just simply overpower the rear wheels so that the rear end would swirve outside of the corner and then balance it.
MR:
Use the same thing as the FRs use: try to oversteer into the corner and then hold it.
4WD:
There's two ways to start a drift with this kind of drivetrain. One way is to use the emergency brake or just oversteer into the corner.
Note: Drifting takes practice. You must be patient in order to develop your own style. It's like typing: once you get the hang of it, then it becomes easier.
I hope this helps
