okay, i still don't get the concept of drifting. say that there a left turn coming up and your going to drift do you hold on the brake and turn the car to the side? and keep holdin the brake? can some1 plz help me.

There are many different ways to make the car start sliding. Applying the brake, and turning is one way, you can also, just swing the car in the direction you want to slide in, which is called feint drifting, or you can just use the acclerator to start a slide depending on how much power your car has, and the tires you are using. Now if the car is a rear wheel drive car, you want to apply the accelerator to keep it sliding, you are going to have to practice at this, cuz you cant just stand on the gas, and expect to be able to control the car once is it is sliding. You have to control the amout of gas you are giving the car during the drift. Too much gas, and the car will spin out, not enough, and the car will stop sliding. If you are driving a front wheel drive car you will have to hold down the e-brake, or do a feint drift to get a really good slide out of it. It all depends on the car you are using. The best thing you can do is just practice at it. It doesn't take that long to figure it out. Also there is a how to drift tutorial somewhere in these forums. Just look for it.

umm.... No, unless you are driving a FF car. Read the drifting guide, it's the first post it will explain it all.

Edit: Oops, it looks like IceGT explained most of it already.

That’s just like saying, "to be a surgeon all I have to do is read some books and have a steady hand". Drifting requires a lot of practice, and you have to experiment and find out what works for you. The good thing about GT3 is that you can make mistakes without endangering anyone’s life. Watch some drifting videos and try to understand what is going on.

do you ever **** down when while you drifting? since your rpm's going down

LOL i guess you mean "Shift" and not "$hit" LOL, yeah often it's good to stay in the power band, it gives you more control.

Okay. When the left turn is coming, this is what I do:
1. Brake late and turn into corner. As soon as I brake late, that means that I want the rear end of the car to swirve outside of the turn. Then I turn into the corner as hard as I can. As a reaction, the car would let it's rear end loose and start to oversteer. As soon as that happens, then I want to keep the car in that position.
2. Balance countersteer and throttle. Since the car is oversteering now, I want the car to stay in that position throughout the turn, so I would keep the car in the same position. KEY: use the timer in the upper right hand corner to make sure that the car is staying in the same position throughout the drift.

Depending on the kind of drivetrain that you are using: FF, FR, MR, 4WD; there are different ways to drift those.

FF:
To begin to drift, just hold the emergency brake and turn into the corner. Try to balance the throttle, the countersteer, and the emergency brake. That's the hard part.

FR:
Just simply overpower the rear wheels so that the rear end would swirve outside of the corner and then balance it.

MR:
Use the same thing as the FRs use: try to oversteer into the corner and then hold it.

4WD:
There's two ways to start a drift with this kind of drivetrain. One way is to use the emergency brake or just oversteer into the corner.

Note: Drifting takes practice. You must be patient in order to develop your own style. It's like typing: once you get the hang of it, then it becomes easier.

I hope this helps :)

i have another ?, say theres a left turn coming up, do you hold on to the brake till the car turns sideways then let go then press the acceleration button and gear down as the rpms go dowN? cuz thats how i'm doing it right now and i want to know if thats right. if not can you correct me please? thank you:)

It sounds okay so far, but it depends on what car you are using. If you're using a FR car, then yes you are doing the right thing. Some other people just use the brake to slow down and then floor the throttle and use that to start the drift.

What car are you using?

i am using the FC , but when i drift, cuz i'm practicing on apricot hill, i always either over rotate or don't turn enough.. can you help me? haha

If you spin, that means that there is not enough countersteer, so try and countersteer more. If you don't turn enough, then you need the rear end to spin more, so just step on the throttle harder/more.

It takes practice :)

Also, try to drift on Midfield Raceway. It's a good place to drift :D

but if you over spin is it cuz some times you give it too much throttle? is it all the time cuz you don't countersteer enough? and yes i have drifted several times. but i wanna be able to drift clean like the one in gran dorifto.. hehe, why do you ask?

but if you over spin is it cuz some times you give it too much throttle?

Yes. That's why you need to countersteer in order for the car not to over spin.

is it all the time cuz you don't countersteer enough?

Yup :)

why do you ask?

Because not too many people care about drifting like you do :D It seems like most of them just procrascinate and say that they would do it later, but other people are determined to drift like CudaMan :)
