Yes, in drifting, because your front wheels guide the car, they should be following the line. While your back wheels are swung out to whatever angle you can achieve, at the speed you are travelling..........

The front tires on my S13 2000cc (as well as my FC, FD, AE86, and especially any of my 4WD cars) don't follow a "line", they acually point toward the apex of the turn, yet they never reach it unless I press the accelerator (If i choose NOT to hit the apex, it continues to slide through as if it was on a "line").
I think it has to do with transferring the weight and knowing where the center of gravity is on the car. (?)
Have you ever heard of a 4-wheel drift?
