I would first of all apologize to the people I may have tapped while i have been drifting online...secondly I would like to applaud those who have slowed down to leave space for drifting in races...It's nice to see that others are willing to try and have fun instead of bump people out to win a race...With this said I would like to see the drifters of this community out drifting in gt5p as well...If you want to drift I suggest waiting at the line for the racers to go ahead then start drifting. That way a pack of drifters can go and tandem together...Any suggestions on how to get more drifters together?

Btw...I really miss the replays...We need replays for online races in the final release please!

Good luck Dking it's already darn near impossible to get a room full of clean racers together

Yeah, I got prologue like 2 days ago. So I tried to drift online and well it wasn't pretty. Few taps here and there, sorry. My bad. And so far, I am a noob. :-P It feels weird too.
Fun though.
Yes! We need replays! Would be easy for them to add, just let the players decide if they want to see the replay or not. No? Get your Cr and go find another game. Yes? Get your credits and watch the replay and enjoy, take a little break.
Hopefully I will pick up drifting a little faster than I did in gt4.
If you can get a bunch of clean racers organized into a chat room, its possible to have most of them in the same room. Just have to have some coordination and luck.
It was fun to mess around with the teammates after so long! We just need rooms now and we will be set.

This why we need private rooms.

Is there a rule within the drifting culture that it is against the collective if you drift "offline"? You do realize none of the online events are "drifting" events, right?

but drifting isnt about points, its about style :P

You do realize we can't tandem offline, right? Therefore that is one skill area that we couldn't improve if there was no way to get online. Do you have a problem with people staying behind if they are going to drift? It's not hurting you any. We know there are no online drifting events. And I am personally glad there aren't yet. We (Breaker, RL, Bee, and myself) are a team. Prologue has online. Therefore we want to improve our driving skills with each other, be it drifting or grip. Yes, we do both. Drifting helps with grip, and grip helps with drifting. We got to where we were in GT4 because we spent time together racing and drifting. Getting to know the cars limits, and each others limits. We learned to work together to futher improve both ourselves and as a team. Progression and teamwork is key, as is having fun.

That's the great thing about drifting...It's about going out and having fun...We dont' need set events to drift...Tandem drifting is a whole different feel then drifting alone....Until we get those private rooms, I thought It would be a good idea to not interfere with those who want to race and hang out in the back. Different people have different driving passions...Mine is sideways...and to have fun with others...Unless of course you would rather see drifters race ahead and bump the people that focus on grip out....but I highly doubt that...So....if you don't have anything positive to contribute...stay quiet.

I personally don't drift but I always allow room for people to do so if they wish, its quite entertaining to see rows of cars drifting round Daytona.

can a player set a server and invite his PSN friends directly? similar to inviting gamertags directly on the 360?

I mean, if you can just invite whoever's in your friendlist on the server, then whoever "else" joins will tire out or you simply let them drive off and do your thing at your own pace...

just a suggestion.

ummm .....unfortunately you cannot do that at this point

A good way to have more organzied drifting is if we all get on an AIM chatroom of some sort and connect at the same time (Dking Suzuki and I all did that and it worked some times)

Its mind blowing to me all the things you guys have to try, just so you can race together. Why oh why is PD so far behind in this area, do they do no research on other online racers. Its almost like this is the first time PD has seen the Internet and a racing game together, and is starting were racers on the Dreamcast started at.

On topic, it is a lot of fun to drift with friends, I haven't done it seriously just for fun. There is nothing like that feeling you get when going tandem through a corner and not crashing. I agree that we don't need drift events, as long as PD wakes up and allows private lobbies, voice chat, i.e. everything other online racers have had for years now.

I'm a drifting fanatic:D, i'll be drifting online once i get the Prologue...which will most likely be in March...I'm definately with you guys all the way.:)

im trying as hard as i can but its just not poss with a hand controller!!!
what wheel do i need to buy!!??

You don't need to buy a wheel....but the better one out is the G25 followed by the dfp (driving force pro) both wheels are made by logitech.

DFP is perfectly fine if you are strapped for money. I have had mine since a few months before GT4 came out, and its still going strong. It has had a LOT(!!!!!!) of hours put in with it.
But i will probably upgrade to a G25 when GT5 is finished and released in the us. Until then i will be using my trusty DFP. One feature i want that i can use right now is the clutch, but i dont want to drop that kinda money at the moment.

The only downside to the dfp is when you countersteer. You have to bring the wheel back manually and there's this unrealistic resistance that slows down your movement wich is really annoying.

I got used to it too. I'm just saying that it is really annoying and if you drift alot and don't have a wheel yet, the dfp is a really bad choice (unless of course you have a very limited budget).

Woah, now thats just wrong. The DFP is not a bad choice at all. You can adjust the feedback strength via both in game menu and on the wheel itself. You can tone back the resistance if it bothers you that much. I run 100% feedback strength on both the wheel option and through gt5p menu with no steering assists and i manage just fine.

Thats not my point....but I don't want to start an argument here so I'll just stop it now.

Power Assist function let you countersteer fast with enlightened force feedback. It's only for this purpose. But yes, G25 is much better in this anyway.
