Drift Tires!

the only time I ever use sims is if my car has less than 300hp and I hate using sims on the front tires, I use normals on the front if I use sims in the back, if it has 300-500hp I use normals and if it has 500hp+ I use race tires (super slicks-Super softs depending on car and hp)

I like my cars to have enough grip that I could corner without drifting if I wanted to, and I can't do that with sims (maybe other people can, but I can't) when I use sims I just slide around like I'm on ice. You can definitely hold some crazy long drifts with sims, but I just like having more steering control than you get with sims.

Exactly, since Sil 80s arent sold in the state they would get be more impressed. Like if I had a Skyline GTR R34 VSPEC II only sold in Japan and Europe until Motorex started to shipped the skylines. But u still dont see alot of skyline around since they are so rare and cost around 100g. What would u think would impress someone more A japanese car that is rarely seen or a Ferrari 360 Modena which is not that rare. The skyline was name at one time the FASTEST 4WD PRODUCTION CAR. I would choose the Skyline over the 360 anytime. The rarer the car the more its worth i think.

actually, Sil 80's are sold in the states, just under a different name. They're 3 versions of 240sx's in the US, one of them is the S14, another 180sx, and finally the Sil 80. I haven't seen a S13 in the states tho...(and for some of those who don't kno...the Sil 80 has retractable lights taken from the 180sx cuz front = 180, rear = S13

Ethix101 is right, it is a One-Via, not a Sil-80. But bengee, Nissan never put the Sil-80 into production. It was just a group of people who ran Touge that had a 180SX and when they wrecked into a wall or whatever they put a Silvia front end onto the wrecked 180SX which made the Sil-80(dead sexy cars).

no no no i'm sure it sil-eighty cuz
1. they talk about it in Initial D
2. I read something about S13 drivers attempting to drift but failing and wrecking their cars. Since 180sx fronts were cheaper, they bought that instead of the more expensive S13

Afraid that Drift260Z is right, Sil-80's are not sold in the States, they were never put into production. In fact, I'm not even sure if it was Nissan's idea? I think the name is just a nickname, like people who put 350 small-blocks in a Datsun 280Z and call them a "350Z." (that was before the official 350Z came out, I don't know if they still call them that...)

you got it backwards...it was 180sx drivers that were crashing their cars and replacing the front with that of a Silvia because it was cheaper.

180sx front+Silvia Back=One-Via (240sx coupe here in the US)
Silvia Front+180sx back=Sil-Eighty (never sold in the US, but I think Nissan made a limited number of them in Japan, but that was after people had already started doing the swaps themselves)

Slight correction, the US 240SX coupe is the 240SX in Japan, the US 240SX hatch is the Japan 180SX. No turbocharged models in the States, they're all 240SX front-ends.

pergatory...he was speaking in terms of body style...He is fully aware that the states never saw any SR20DET model 240's..He was simply saying that The ONEVIA...Which is a 180SX front end on a Silvia rear end..is EXACTLY the same as the S13 model 240SX of the states..

well i would never buy a us spec 180sx just cause its sooo toned down... well i guess i would buy but i wouldnt like it until i at least put up to Japanese spec... i gues i am kinda late at coming back into the convo... glad everything got settled well... good point about hte engine shinez AGAIN... nobody mentioned that... i have seen a r34 in berkeley cali... but that doesnt impress me as much as a sil eighty would... whether stock or converted... it impressed me but it just shows that the person went for what everyone wants... a sileighty... and cars like it show the type of character held byt he driver... ehhhs o does the r34 but... does anyone get what i am saying...

I'm still not a fan of the Sileighty...I love Silvias and I love 180sx's ..but I just don't like the look of the sileighty...guess it's just me

Yeah I agree with you, I dont like the looks of the Sileighty, but I really wouldn't mind it if one appeared in my driveway.

lol... man i wouldnt mind is alot of cars just appeared on my driveway...
there is more to a car than how it looks...

well as long as it is not horibly ugly... for example the bmw z4 or new 3... but anyways... that is just my opinion

Money Is the best way too Go.
The more money you spend, the better the item. ;) Always remember that.

You're a Fast and the Furious fan, aren't you?

In the case that you're joking (the smilies confuse me!) I apologise for the smartass remark. ^^;

I personally use sims with stock to 400HP cars, I don't really go any higher than that. If you think sims are garbage for drifting, then watch the IDM Video Magazine or any of the Gran Dorifto videos. They all use sim tires. All I ever really do is lighten my car, buy a clutch, LSD, and racing transmission, and buy sim tires. There you go, uber drifter.

I just noticed it too...

Crazy how random old old threads re appear.

Anyhow, I use T2 tires or Sims, thats about it, period, EVER, for everything I do - Drift, race, or what not.

And in reference of expensive versus cheaper but still fast. WRX STi... ring any bells? Damned fast car, and alot less that many many cars that are faster. What you pay for in Ferrari, Lambo, BMW, Benz, Aston, Audi... etc. Is a name, that is it.
