I really do have a problem with that
y?

i do it in real life
the name just discribes what it is (dont mean its any less harder to do or that its less credible than FR or AWD)
for me its still sliding (but in technical terms) not drifting BUT IT IS STILL FUN AND JUST AS HARD 👍

I LEARNED HOW TO DRIFT AWD!! It's still hard, but it's better than before...I did n1's all the time, all power, vcd to 50 (all the way) rear lsd settings high, except for decel, and front lsd settings real low, no more than 15, very stiff rear suspension, front suspension about 2 or 3 points less stiffer (so say if the rear is 15.0 and you put it to 14.2, the front should be 11.6) and the camber angle for the rear should be high and the front should be at the most 2 and at the least 1...No weight transfer is always needed...The way I tune my AWD cars now is better than before...try this out.

you dont understand it. it's a technique.

uhh...i know what brake drifting is...It's a technique i used back in GT3 with all of my AWD cars.

it's alot harder in gt4 to brake drift. you can't really use brake drift technique with FF cars...you won't brake traction that way... 👎

yeah, only way is to have alot of weight in the back and swing it, or have weak tires in the back, strong in the front and do a combination of foot and handbraking

can someone please tell me what ff, fr, mr, and all the drivetrain types in gt4 actually stand for? :p

and, I think awd cars are easy to drift and can get nice angles-good for the beginner. But in real life for some reason rear wheel is the most common, I dont how good awd worsk in real life, but its basically, rear wheel with crappy tires in the rear and fairly good in the front. So, I think gt4 hasn't completely made a perfectly good driving simulator, since the tire setup is different, and a lot of other small things dont match up. So I think the awd's ability to drift so easily isn't completely realistic, and therefore, I like to challenge myself with rear wheel and other types....or something.

basically I like rear, and awd, but sometimes awd can get too easy and not seem like a challenge.

FF - Front engine, Front drive
FR - Front engine, Rear drive
MR - Mid engine, Rear drive
RR - Rear engine, Rear drive
AWD - All Wheel Drive

well some people drift differently. The brake works fine for me.

does it help if you have different tires in front and rear? I read in this forum before that you should never mix two tire types.

It is a crutch. You really shouldn't have to resort to mixing unless you are really lazy with your tuning.

Well, it depends. If you want the back to swing around easier, yes. However, doing so greatly increases the occurances of snap oversteer. It's usually easier to just use a good setup than to mess with switching out tires.

I don't think any game ever can have true to life physics.

theres a reason why people drift with rear wd cars. In real life, thats the only way to go. drifting with awd is a lot easier which means anyone can be able to do it t=whick means it isnt a skill anymore. the true diehard drifters stick to rwd 👍

well obviously that will make you a AWD drift god or something. infact, everyone will be a AWD drifting master.

If you think AWD is THAT easy, you haven't drifted the AWD drivetrain to it's full potential.

In that case, I would love to see your work.
You make AWD cars sound like garbage or something.

if you're comparing awd to all the others, its definitely the easiest and you can master it pretty quickly. I think that's what jedi09 was saying. They're not garbage, just not challenging to use after a short while. With fr you can take a longg time to master your line, angle and throttle on tough courses.

well in that case, i don't think our definitions of "master"-ing AWD drivetrains are the same.

you "master" the AWD faster than anything else. Im not saying you can be a master at it immediately. Also, by master I just mean very good.. not perfect.

oh ok. I understand what you're saying.

but read jedi's post. he says drifting AWD is easier that there is no skill involved.

haha the reason i'm jumping down his throat is that i am an "Only AWD" drifter. i do not drift FR cars.

I'll have to say that is very very inaccurate. AWD takes a different skill then FR/MR/RR. It's differnt techniques.

It's less complex from a control side, but that doesn't make it "easier".

how old are you any way
Do you even have your license FR is away easier to drift in real life thats why they use them AWD is hella harder

Get your facts straight befor making an ass of yourself and pissing people off

hey...pplz are gettin abit over exited here....me i prefer FR ova 4WD but that doesnt mean that i think 4WD drifting is crapper or easier...i just like to drift FR. Im a new memba but i think u should settle this argument ova a drift pic battle

AWD is fairly easy to get loose. Any WRX or EVO you just need a good amount of weight shift and it'll start to slide. Even with DCCD on an STi on 50/50 you can break it loose with a relative amount of ease. After that all you really need is a decent amount of power to maintain a slide. Stock STi's and EVO VIII's will hold minimal angle drifts as long as any stock FR can. It'd be the easier of the two in terms of ease in control.

So how old are you to talk down to jedi? Play nice or don't play at all.

I think most of it is GT4 talk ;)

Personally, I find FR cars a lot easier to drift stock.. and I enjoy drifting them more than AWDs.. mainly because I have more experience with FR, but also because I find FRs more responsive and erm "fluid".

I'd think the possibilities are bigger with AWD though.. more angle, more fancy moves (360+ degrees into and out of drifts etc) and most of all longer drifts. One of the things that AWD does very much better than RWD is drift (controlled) in an almost straight line, allowing for some insanely long double apex drifts on narrower tracks.
