Having the music off helps me a lot, because you can hear when the engine needs to change gears, and lots of other things...although others probably could do this with music.

that just confused me,

but I always race with the music off, and being able to hear what's going on helps a lot with drifting,

I'm a fanatic about that in real life I usually drive with my window cracked or down when pushing it to hear the tires on the road...,

maybe I'm a freak

hehe, i confused one of our new members, or maybe everyone! lol

but what i meant is that i turn off the TV volume and listen to my MP3s on my comp while i drift.

and the way i drift is that i make sure that like i can only see half of the tarmac on the screen when i drift

does it still confuse you Seis? :D

Doesn't confuse me, but you must be looking at the rpms a lot, to know when to shift...because you can't hear the engine.

that' s true, but i still use the automatic

i must be the only one who still does that :) i feel special

Ok, I have ran into another problem, when I initiate the slide using the Power Over, the car turns into a block of lead and slides straight off the track and into the wall, shortcutting the corner. It never goes in the direction of the corner. Is my aim off or something?

one thing you can do is that you can oversteer in the direction you want your car to turn and try not to drift too early unless your car can recover and use its oversteer ability to keep the car sideways throughout the turn.

chk out Race Idiot's video and you'll know what i'm talking about :)

or maybe....you might be taking the corner too fast....try slower drifts first....theyre more easier to execute. like....try the not so hard curves at apricot hill or deep forest....those were my first drifting courses.

Those are the exact two courses that I practice on. If I take the corner slow than I cant sustain the drift let alone go the direction of the turn. If I do enter at a good speed, then the car (or me) tucks the tail back in after 1/4 or if i'm lucky 1/2 of the turn( even if I maintain a steady throttle flow - dare push it too much or it will spin out! >_< ). Damn this is complicated. :banghead: Maybe the steering wheel has it's advantages over the DSAC?

Hey, i know what you mean about gettin the hang of drifting...its a real pain in the @$$ when you can't seem to stick it. The advice that everyone else left pretty much spells it all out for you, i think you just have to get the hang of it after practicing. the fact that you are sliding into the wall probably means one of 2 things...either you need to decrease the speed that you're entering the turn, or you have to start turning in a little earlier.

Im pretty sure u got the hang of it, but you just need to adjust your timing. that was the problem i always have. before you know it, you'll be drifting without even thinking about it.
actually, i first started drifting just from pushin my car a little too much when i was in the actual races. when my tires get yellow-orange, look out:D my lap tims just start gettin quicker and quicker. i know that drifting isnt exactly the quickest way thru a turn, but if i 4-wheel drift it better suits my driving style...and my times actually improve
