Alright, first off, yes, I am actually posting in the drifters forum.

But I have a good reason. :D

I wanted to ask all the drifters...

When and where to you drift ?

Do you use drifting as a tool for racing, or do you drift for another reason ?

Do you go out of your way to drift all the time or is it something you do on occasion with certain car/track combos ?

I'm not hip to the drifting scene, so feel free to give your answers to these questions. Also keep this on GT3, I dont give a crap about the other games out there. :D

Later.

I don't really play GT3 anymore, but when I did play I would drift 90% of the time. Usually, I'd pick my car specifically for the type of driving I wanted to do. If I wanted to race I'd pick out a car that I have setup for racing and I'd do the same for drifting.
As for when I would drift...it would depend on the mood I was in.
I'd rarely ever use drifting techniques while racing unless I was just bored and I wanted to see what races I could win while drifting.
Why do it?....because it's fun. It's fun trying to see how smooth and consistent you can be. It's fun to try to link different corners. It's fun to try to get high angled drifts without spinning. It's fun to try and drift with zero countersteering. It's fun to take stock cars and drift them. It's fun to take 1000hp monster cars and drift them. It's just fun. :)

I drift to have fun (seeing how many turns I can link together in a row without regaining full grip) and have a better understanding of car physics. i.e.-how sideways I can get the car before I spin

I never drift in races, though, I keep the 2 separate. I have cars that are set up for drift, and cars that are set up for grip, and I use them accordingly;)

I drift for fun (often) evry track and all almost corners, and I drift while I'm racing (some times), while racing I keep low angle. But when I want do a fast lap I don't drift. I drift while racing because I like it, not for going faster.

I guess I'm still a newbie in that sense, because I find that I countinuously drift everytime I turn on this game. That's just my preference however. I do not represent 1 tenth of 1 percent of the GTP drifters, I just find that evertime I pick up the controller, even with store displays, I try to see just how much sideways action I can achieve.

Thought you all would like to know that the weekly race series is currently running a great drift possibility.

SSR 11 Reverse
Fully modified 206 rally

Follow the link in my sig if you are new to the weekly race series, or just check it out if you are registered.

Catch you on the track.

I might actually get into that. Now if only they're were a drift challenge with the EVO VII, that would be bliss.

Any way . . . . . .ahem
