hey everybody! just recently, (as in the past couple of days...) i have discovered drifting in GT3. i've had the game for quite sometime, and have heard of people drifting on the game but never got around to actually doing anyof it. but thanks to guys like you, im starting to drift with Style! Thanx!

Now, as for my question. lately, my drifts have been getting faster around corners but leave much to be desired. the fastest ive gone around a corner is about 75 mph. (Tokyo I) im just wondering, is it possible to get speeds above 80-90+? im still perfecting my drift but its starting to turnout a bit better. if anybody can help me out about this question, please help out. like takumi, im just trying to become faster.

thanks in advance!

so basicly, reaching speeds beyond 85+ would be godly perhaps?

You're missing the point. If you regulary drift at say a midfield I hairpin at 55 mph, you really can't drift the same corner at 80 mph the second time you go through. There are limits of speed for different corners and those limits are determined by the angle of the turn. It is possible to drift at 90+ mph if the corner is not tight for turning. Again, it all depends on the angle, but you cannot drift the same turns at +- say 30 mph of what your speed is regularly at that corner...

👍

FI is right on target with that!

Just check out sheron's "difference between racing and exhibhition drifting" vid. It's in the GT3 drifting vid thread at the top of this forum.

thanks you guys, it makes sense the way you said it, but i kinda made the mistake in what i wrote originally. i actually meant is there a way to increase speed around corners through drifting techniques :) sorry bout. still you guys make total sense, so ill use this info to help me race. thanks again!

Feinting and brake drifitng(combination) will probably be the fastest. But, why are you so concerned with speed? Are you exhibition drifting or race drifting?

now that you mention it, i dont really know which... but i would have to guess im leaning towards race drifting but i dont want to really give up the idea having a little bit of exhibition in there. i guess im little stubborn that way. oh well, ill try the Feint/Brake Combo and see how that works out. thanks a ton!

If going through the turn faster rather than going faster while turning is what you want, i suggest just one thing to make that happen.

Instead of trying to increase your turn speed how about this:
Brake late and hard into the entry instead of slowing down before the turn. That's how i drift...hitting the entry at a fast speed and adjusting with the brakes one entered from there... because increasing drift speeds is higly unlikely.

theres actually no specific way of going faster around a corner cus some people prefer and favor other techniques. the only way you can improve corner speeds is to try other stuff yourself and experiment to which fits your comfortability. then when you feel better with your handling techniques...work from there.

AGAIN. There are ways to complete the turn at a faster time but there is no way to actually drift at higher speeds. Couple of late braking, fast entry techniques help to go through a turn faster but it DOESN'T let you higher your drift speeds.

👍

you can easily get to 80+ on that turn on trial mountain before the long straight

use a maxed out MR-S on super softs just go in really fast feint motion let go to the gas then floor it

a MidEngine or RearEngine car should be able to have a bit higher speed due to the extra weight in the back supplying more traction.. which in turn leads back to tires.....

well, even though speed is not the focus of drifting. (control is) one tip i have is to come out of your drift w/ very little countersteering. If your gonna go for big angle at all it should be in the beginning of the turn.(not afterwards unless ur linking). I think it looks sloppy when you still can tell the driver is correcting oversteer at the end of the turn and the car whips or wobbles. In real life a nice crisp exit looks better also. I think in D1 you get more pts for countersteering alot... but im not sure. If you can come out of the turn crisp and be doing a lot of countersteering that looks really good and is also fast. And big angle at the beginning looks cool. 👍

OoOO!!! almost forgot. A heaver right foot=tires spinning more=less traction= slower entry speed=slower cornering+exit speed.
