Did they really have to look into it. It is rather obvious it isn't correct, no inquieries needed.

Some of those traffic cameras can't catch you if you're going over a certain speed. I've read of Japanese tuners going through the automated toll routes at absurd speeds, the camera catches a picture of the road.

Top gear did a test like that on their track. Go fast enough, and the camera won't even take the photo.

You can't do that on the George Bush Tollways. The cameras have caught a speeder recorded at 130Mph from a motorcyclist.

The fine was over $1,600.

On Top Gear they had to take a TVR Tuscan S "over 170mph" to evade the camera. A lot of the Japanese tuner cars (and those in the Midnight Club) are 200+ mph cars, so they'd have no problem outrunning the cameras. Fastest speeder caught in the UK was a motorbike at 155mph, I believe.

There have been several faster than that - though not caught by cameras (and I don't believe the guy on the bike was either) - including a 160mph+ M3 and a similarly quick NSX (whose case was thrown out as the judge didn't believe that the speed he was doing, in THAT car in THOSE road conditions constituted "dangerous driving", which was the offence he was charged with) and a guy whose speed was never established, but estimated at "210mph+".

There are a couple of other fast uk incidents I can remember.

This one with top secret's owner and a rb powered supra.

I also remember watching one of those police chase/crazy video shows that had another. Some ferrari club of japan member brought over either an f40 or an f50 to england. He ended up video taping himself breaking 200 in it. He then went to sell the video on "the black market" and was caught by police. Not sure what happened to him.
