A lot of times I see a driver that I want to follow, however, I can't find a way to look him up. Is there a search window somewhere where I can type in a username so I can follow him, or her?

I don't think this is a GTSport function. Go to the PS4 menu (press the PS button), to to your friends list / search for friends, and type in their name. This may not be exactly right but it goes something like that. Hope this helps you.

Thanks DGXR for the suggestion. Indeed I can follow him by going through the PS4 menu but apparently it doesn't translate to GT Sport.

Then I guess there's a friend follower function in GT Sport that I'm not aware of. Surely someone else will chime in, I'd be interested in learning about this also :D

Your psn friends will show up under the "My Driver" section. You should be able to follow your psn friend through there. Could be wrong, not on a ps4 at the moment.

If you go to Friends/Players Met in the PS4 menu, it should tell you who you met and in what game.

Yes psn friends that are already established will show up in GT Sport but that's now what I'm talking about. For example, lets say you see someone you're racing against (not, at present, a friend) and you want to follow them. Where do you go to type in their name to follow them?

You can, of course follow someone if they post a photo, livery, or a video. But there's no way to see their posts unless you accidentally come across them in the "Discovery" section.

For example, you can follow someone through the "Discovery" section by clicking "follow" from one of their posts. From the "Activity Feed" section you can click "friends" and you can see the friends that you're following but there's no search function to type in a name (unless I'm missing something).

Try the Players Met on the PS4.. It will give you a list of everyone you've raced against. It basically shows all the players from the races you've taken park of.

You don't. You, as I said, go to your PS4's main menu, go to Friends, and go to Players Met:

Doing this shows you a list of players you've met. And what game you met them in. Like this:

If you add them as Friends from there you automatically follow them in the game.

This.

Whenever I have a good race, I press the ps button at the end of the race, go to friends, select players met, and send a FRQ to the driver(s) I've had a good battle with.

Got some very good and clean racers on my list now.

I know what you're talking about, but sadly don't know how to help you. I know there are a few people that follow me that are not on my friends list but they've clearly just liked my liveries and followed me.

There is no search function in GTS, and following someone from Discovery will not let you compare lap times, just notify you in "activity" when they have shared a new livery or something.
The best way to add someone is the way @Famine shows in the post with the screenshot... and you can see from the screenshot not only the game, but the exact race time you encountered the other players.

Oh, I think someone you've just added as a friend won't show up ingame instantly -- not sure if game needs to be restarted or it's just a matter of letting some time go by.

can you filter/sort results on the Discover page? If so, you might be able to filter by a user name that way?

You should also be able to find people within GT Sport, if you're in an active session.

Hit the GT button in the top-left corner, and pick My Menu. Then scroll down to Friends.

There are four panes there with Friends, Following, Followers and "Current Session". You should be able to then find the relevant person's avatar, hit X on that, select the "..." icon in the top-left and pick Follow to follow them.

I think you can also report people here.

I agree with you but as far as I can see you can't just add them as a "friend". You have to ask them first. Although this would work as long as they agree to be a friend, this isn't what I want to do. I just want to follow them in GT Sport.

I tried that. Apparently it only searches for tags, but not the user name (unless they happen to put their name in a tag, which rarely happens).

That's good to know. I'll try it when I'm in an active session. Unfortunately, if you forget to do it during an active session, there doesn't seem to be a way to then follow a user.
