The 2007 season is just finished, but I'm interested in who you are backing / supporting for the 2008 season and why.

Here are my views:

Drivers:
Felipe Massa - Ferrari

Backing because I am a fan of Ferrari and he is the longest serving driver under ferrari currently in their lineup. Very quick, and honoured his teams request to give raikkonen the win at interlagos. I think he will win the championship in the 08 season.

Kimi Raikkonen - Ferrari

A ferrari driver with an attitude I can't help but like. Newly crowned world champion in his first season in the team.

Adrian Sutil - Currently Unknown

A young talent who I believe did very well with the very much pace lacking car he was given. Scored 1 point.

Both Toro Rosso drivers.

Bourdais has recently been crowned champ-car champion once again and it's easy to see that vettel is a rising star. Both will be interesting to watch in 2008.

Teams:

Scuderia Ferrari Malboro
Scuderia Toro Rosso

What are your views?

I will keep my support for Kimi as my main "support" as I have for years now.

Since Wurz is gone now, I'll have to see who else I will support. Kovalainen I'm interested in seeing how he will evolve. I'd also like to see Sutil get a point here and there. And without wurz,I will put my secondary support to Heidfeld for BMW. I like the way he drives and his attitude and I think he deserves at least 1 win next season.

Drivers

Kimi Raikkonen: I don't know how he'll react to being crowned World Champion. I hope he'll come back stronger.

Nico Rosberg : Hes young and if Williams give him a good car i can see him up on the podium regularly.

Heikki Kovalainen: I hope this guy has a driver. he does amazing articles for the BBC & hes a great driver.

Nando Alonso: If he stays at Merc he wont be world champ.

Teams

Williams & BMW & Toro Rosso-Ferrari.

Jenson Button

Because with all of his fans jumping ship for the Hamilton camp, someone's got to drive the JB bandwagon ...

Too early to say, I'll give my view when we know A) Drivers and B) Early testing results.

Jenson Button

Because with all of his fans jumping ship for the Hamilton camp, someone's got to drive the JB bandwagon ...

You and me both mate. 👍

I'll be backing Jense and Nick Heidfeld once again, as for teams, Honda of course.
;)

Driver wise...

Lewis
Nico
Jenson
Kimi

I hope I can at least say I'll be part backing a Fernando closer to his 2005 personality.

Team wise...

McLaren & BMW

I can say that now because my support doesn't lie with who does best in winter testing

Kimi has been my favourite driver ever since i started following Formula 1(back when he was at Sauber).

After he left McLaren, the only teams that i supported were Ferrari and BMW Sauber.
Ive always liked Ferrari as a team but i also disliked them because they made the sport boring when Schumi used to dominate. But its all good now that my favourite driver is in my favourite team.

And theres just something about BMW Sauber that i like because they are such a promising new team with such talented young drivers.

So it would be amazing if Kimi and Ferrari won both championships again in 08 while BMW Sauber wins a couple of races and secures second place in contructors points

Teams:

Aguri - because they're Aguri :D
With moderate backing to Williams and McLaren.

Drivers:

Takuma Sato (;))
With backing to Rosberg & Vettel (MOAR interviews with Ebel :D), Alonso, Raikkonen, Liuzzi and Heidfeld. I covered half the field now.

I always like to root for the underdogs so I will be hoping that Super Aguri do well.

I also want to see how well Vettel, Rosberg, and Kovalainen do.

I have always thought that Raikkonen deserved to win a championship. Now that he has I guess I will find out how much of a fan I am.

Team - Ferrari, unless some sort of phenomenal disaster of idiocy overtakes them and they slot Alonso into the lineup.

Driver - Kimi to win it again. I like Felipe and he's certainly quick but he still doesn't have the racing skills, just driving, which was proved at races like the Nurburgring. Kimi took half a season to get to grips with the TC and then became a force for the second half of the season, with a good run from the outset he'll have no troubles. I see either Felipe or Hamilton second depending on just how good the Ferrari is and just how much McLaren struggle with their pit position and FIA car inspections.

Drivers, in order:
Nico Rosberg
Felipe Massa
Adrian Sutil
Nick Heidfeld
Robert Kubica

Teams, in no order:
Ferrari
Williams
BMW-Sauber
Toyota (sans Ralf)

I will be backing Räikkönen as always (and hence Ferrari).

As Eagle said, with a solid start to the season he should have a much easier job of things. Bahrain–Canada really did Kimi no huge favours in the championship. It wasn’t exactly a stellar campaign, at that point. :indiff:

Meanwhile, there is no TC next year so I think you can really expect to see Kimi and Lewis shine.

I’ll be keeping an eye on Alonso; not because I’m expecting him to do particularly well but just to see how the team dynamic evolves at wherever he ends up.

Nico Rosberg should be interesting to watch. He really appeared to do well this year. Although I am left wondering whether he would have looked less impressive with Webber as his team mate again (who quickly put an end to Rosberg-mania in 2006), or whether he really got a chance to mature and improve over the winter after a full season under his belt, or whether the 2006 car was so difficult to drive he couldn’t fulfil his potential (see Heikki Kovalainen, early 2007).

Also I want to see Red Bull improve with some more influence from Newey. Hopefully they can earn some podiums on merit (in the dry).

I'm For the red one (Ferrari) and its Drivers Raikkonen and Massa.

I hope that The BLACK PADAWAN repeat his fantastic 2007 season
WITHOUT any form of helps and without silly errors,
he is the future anyway 👍!

AT the same time I'd like to see Williams win the championship before the McLaren
Sir Franck Williams is on another (superior) PLANET than (lad)Ron Dennis !

I-R

Drivers I will Back

  1. Kimi Raikkonen - Been a long time supporter and that is not going to change now.
  2. Felipe Massa

Drivers I find Interesting for Next Year

  1. Lewis Hamilton - I want to see how he will respond to all of the off season hoopla and hype that is going to go his way. I also want to see how he will respond to almost winning the Driver's Championship in his very first year.
  2. Heikki Kovalainen - I want to see if he can continue to improve and continue to realize his potential.
  3. Nico Rosberg - Same explanation as Heikki.
  4. Robert Kubica - Same explanation as Heikki and Nico.
  5. Sebastian Vettel - Same explanation as Heikki, Nico, and Robert.

Teams I will Back

  1. Ferrari - Having wanted to root for Ferrari for a long time, I finally got my wish this year when my favorite driver went there. I just could not get myself to root for Ferrari when Schumi was there, well other than last year. Now with my favorite driver there, I will forever be a Ferrari fan.
  2. BMW Sauber - I would definitely like to see them claim number two in the Constructor's next year. They had a great run this year and it will be interesting to see if they can carry that success into next year.

Teams I am Interested to Watch
  1. Super Best Friends - Go SUPER BEST FRIENDS!!!
  2. Red Bull Racing - Let's see what Adrian Newey can do with the car and see if it can produce some results. (Actually, I think it would be better to give Mark Webber a chance to finish the race first, but that is beside the point.)
  3. Williams - I feel Williams is one of those teams that belong near the top. Maybe Nico and whoever is with him will be able to bring the team back near the top.

Drivers I will be backing next year:
1. Coulthard - Not for the championship, just to do well.
2. Massa - Would love him to win the championship or even come 2nd (As long as Kimi isnt 1st)
3. Raikonnen - Ive been a fan of his when he first joined Mclaren, still enjoy when he does well even though he's on the other side
4. Hamilton - I do support him but he's got plenty of years in his career to win the championship so thats why ive put him below the two ferrari drivers.

Teams I will be backing next year:
1. Mclaren
2. Red Bull
3. BMW Sauber

Teams I will definately not be backing:
Renault

Drivers I will definately not be backing:
Alonso
Button

Drivers I back:
Rosberg - He's getting better, maybe not as fast as Hamilton right out of the box, but he's doing well.
Button - I hope he gets an actual proper car for 08, gotta support the guy with my same initials.
Hamilton - Because he's the best bet of a British champion anytime soon.

Teams I back
Williams - Lifelong fan, I'll always support them really and after a better 07 season, I hope they can challenge the Renaults and BMWs. Time they were back on top.
McLaren - Second favourite team after Williams, so meh.

I've never "backed" any driver or team, but as I said in a similar thread:

The drivers I am most interested in seeing what they can do in 2008 are:
  • Heikki Kovalainen
  • Lewis Hamilton
  • Nico Rosberg
  • Robert Kubica
  • Sebastian Vettel
All of these "young guns" have in my opinion shown a tremendous amount of talent and should make for some exciting moments next year and hopefully in years to come! 👍

I am also looking forward to see how Sebastien Bourdais does in his long awaited first race in F1.

As for teams, I guess I'm going to be most interested in seeing how McLaren bounces back from all the drama this year.

But frankly, I like to keep an eye on all the teams, at least during the early part of the season, just to see how they have adjusted from the year before.

I would suspect Toyota and Honda have the most at stake as far as making some much needed improvements during the off season. So I know I'll be very keen on seeing what they come up with.

I always like to root for the "small" guys, so I'll be keeping my eye out for improvements from Spyker, Super Aguri, and Toro Rosso.

And I'd really like to see another close race for the championships between drivers and teams. I certainly think BMW Sauber has a good shot at challenging Ferrari and McLaren. 👍

Basically, the only thing I back is the sport of F1, but I certainly appreciate and congratulate those drivers and teams that not only perform well on the track, but who are exciting to watch, and who play by the rules and act professional. 👍

I've been thinking, and I honestly cannot decided between the 4 drivers! I want to support alonso and massa but how can I not support hamilton? And I backed Kimeth all the way and I cant just not support him

HELP!

:(

Sit back, enjoy it and don't get caught up in one driver's hype. It's the best way to watch F1.

I agree with Roo. I've never supported one driver, obviously I love to see Lewis win but I'd rather see a great race than one of my favourites win a boring race.

Drivers - Raikonnen - because he's my favorit driver
Massa - because he has been with Ferrari so long and deserves to win
Hamilton - because I'm British

Teams Ferrari - because I'm a 'Ferrari Fanboy'

Support all those you want to back. Don't have to support just one, and if one driver you're backing doesn't do well you can turn around and say "Though at least I can be happy that so-so still did well"

Yeah that's a good point. There are just too many drivers I want to do well. As Andy Gray said about football, "I am a fan of the sport" not particular drivers.

I'd like to see the following do well (in layers):

Kimi Massa Vettel Bourdais
Kubi Heidfeld Glock Webber
Nakajima Sutil Alonso

Not bothered:
Piquet Fisi Trulli Barrichello
Hamilton Heikki Button Rosberg
Davidson Sato Coulthard

:D
