As im off ill at home and looking after one of the kids i thought i could have a good go on GT5.....

Is it just me but m B-spec driver is an idiot......

If he drives the car anthing above 'Normal' he just carnt control it?

I thought perhaps it may have been how the car was set up but its not, I can drive the car fine steady or like a loon.....

Anyone else have the same problem with thier driver?

Yep. There are a lot of threads (and thousands of people, if not, EVERYONE) complaining that he's a moron. We came up with an insult in chat today, it is now used for someone who is worse than an idiot, example: "Morsolo, you're a B-Spec Driver!" :D

I can beat races in A-Spec with a car 100HP slower than the competition. B-Spec he can't win even with 100HP more... Hell, I'm watching him right now LOSE a race on DAYTONA... WITH A VEYRON.

I keep ordering him about, tell him to reduce pac before the race has started, and keep telling him that to keep him cool. when he's chilled out a bit, maintain pace. Put him in a faster car and he should cane everything. Just keep him chilled.

you have too train the driver. soo make sure the bar in the middle is bleu, because red is agressive and he makes mistakes. if the bar is completly bleu, and then u say drive faster, then the bar will raise tho the red side. as it will go towards red, he will make more and more mistakes.
soo make sure u train him as much in the bleu area :D
thats it, and the more levels he gets, the faster he go's :D
also make sure ur driver is somewhere in the middle from the start, soo after race starts, say drive slower, or else he will drift or crash

If you don't give him any commands he calms down. I've found if he gets in front, don't tell him to do anything and he'll do fine.

lol, loosing on daytona with a veyron surely is not an easy task hehe.

I had a weird problem on the london course. In this one 90 degree corner he kept flooring the throttle and spinning out. No matter what car I tried it with, either he spun out (rwd) or he went straight into the wall and got stuck there (fwd). I had to redo the race when he leveled up.

But I notice that you basically have to keep him cool to avoid him making mistakes.

My guy is at level 5 now, and he drives ehmm allright. It is quite fun to see him struggle with a powerful rwd car and all aids of hehe.

mr o wolf drives like a fruit bat.... 600 bhp skyline R32 setup 80/20 to the rear and keep banging him to increase pace and he drifts round all the time lol.... damn good pilot that ol bean.

No, if you get him to first place, then leave him alone, he will driver slower and slower (if you gave him an "normal" car, not an total OP one).

When he´s gettin cold, he drives safe and slow, if he´s hot, he drives fast but sometimes unsafe, so he´ll land in the greens.

Yust keep him in the middle between cold and hot.

Many people complain about their AI drivers, come on, they got some good moments too :) (mine did quite a few nice overtake maneuvers)

IMPORTANT: check the tyres one the cars, your AI can´t drive good on trash tires.

To the OP: just remember your first time doing a racing sim. Did you drive flawlessly, or were you like me, making mistakes, driving off the track, not sure which racing line to take, etc. GT5's B-spec driver actually drives better than I did when I first started GT1 7 years ago.

B-spec drivers are supposed to start off green, which mean they're total amateurs. It's our job to mentor them. You can do so properly by not always telling them to overtake, sometimes slowing down is a much better option. It takes a lot of time (I'm not gonna lie) and you may not be pleased with the overall results because you may always be able to outdrive your B-spec. GT4's B-spec Bob remained a pretty terrible driver no matter how high his skill, and I could always outdrive him. Not sure if GT5 eventually gets better; I have a feeling it does.

But let's say B-spec started us off with this top driver who drove as well as (or better than) we do. Wouldn't that defeat the purpose of us doing sim mode ourselves? Know what I mean? I know a lot of GT5's lazier cheaters would take advantage of this, and just let B-spec handle all the stuff they can't do. Just a thought.

lol, loosing on daytona with a veyron surely is not an easy task hehe.

He was braking WAY before the bends and he even stepped on the brakes for that tiny little bend on the top straight. I'm pretty sure Daytona isn't "slow in fast out" so much as it is "GO GO GO GO GO!"

My lvl 15 driver cant do anyting in GT World Championship: Pagani Zonda R '09 (P) with my maxed Veryon :/ dunno if I should use another car.

You've had the game....what...5 or 6 days, and you're already trying to get B-spec to do the GTWC? Can you do it yourself? If not, why are you questioning why the computer can't do it?

My B-Spec guy, (C.Contreras) was in a 350Z in sunday cup at Autumn Ring Mini, and was drifting, full of tyre smoke every corner!!!

I might have to actually give B SPEC a go..

Well ofc I can do it as thats where you win the Veyron?

I'm not telling Mr. G. Garner anything. He has to figure out how to win all by himself. It's a fairly modern training method, but it works..... most of the time.

I used a Peugeot 908 :D

I have 4 drivers now and they hardly ever make mistakes ,maybe I'm a great team manager :D

Well after a quiet chat we agreed that if i stop hounding him over the radio he will drive to his best lol

...but i said if he damages my car again we will have words lol

....RIGHT THATS IT!

Ive just seen the front bumper on my shiny yellow 206 GTi..... its half hanging off!

and there is a huge dent in the side of the door..... whats he been bloody playing at lol

Once I got the hang of it, I started having a lot of fun with B-Spec. A few thoughts:

The Chrome Line cars are perfect for the B-Spec drivers. My team have put the M3 and R8 in particular to good use.

Each of my drivers has a distinct style that only became apparant to me after running several races with each. They also each perform their best at a different point on the "stress" bar. One of them actually becomes more aggressive and executes better passing moves when I give him the "pace down" command!

Last night I saw some of the best AI drving ever, and it was from my #3 B-Spec guy. It was a Trial Mountain race (in the FR Series, I think) and I had my guy (driver level 3) in the Chrome Line M3. The race came down to my guy versus a really well-driven Shelby, and for several laps they were on each others asses, with the lead changing several times. I was pushing the crap out of my guy with "pace up" and "pass" commands, but he never lost control and the race ended with him passing the Shelby on the final straight and winning by half a car length. Good stuff!

You can always threaten your driver with monetary penalties. E. Conway and I had a little chat Sunday afternoon after he bent the frame on my FT86. He's learning the hard way about keeping his cool on the track instead of wrecking MY car while trying to get payback for a harmless nudge.

What I've found to be working for me is that if you have a new b-spec bob in a powerful rwd car tell him to reduce pace at all slow and technical parts of the track if there is a chance he might spin out, later on they get a lot better, but the first few levels they can have problems, over the top power is not always the best option when looking for a car for bob either.

I'd quite like to be able to race against my own B-spec bob - he is doing quite well.

Although I still dont let hi drive 'my' cars - he gets his own.

Kenji Yoshida (Yoshi to his friends) has had a turbulent first season. He's had some triumphant moments (the Euro classics in my lime green BMW 2002 Turbo, sneaking a win on the final corner), but he's also had some dismal, dismal failures, braking just before the finish line on Daytona to steal second from the jaws of victory in the sports truck race.

Not only that, but after finally winning the sports truck Daytona race once (after I ploughed enough cash into the engine), he proceeds to successfully level up, and then drive worse, finishing 8th next time round. Seems Daytona is the place to just pump him full of the red mist so that he doesn't brake for anything.

My next round of punishment will involve fitting comfort hards to my now 300bhp+ BMW 2002 and leaving him to relentlessly power oversteer...

The relationship continues to blossom.

It's all in the mentoring.

Well I'm happy with my guy. He has won 12 out of his 13 races. Good work "S. Gronholm"..

I was cruising along wonderfully with E. Ferrari winning 16 of the first 17 races he entered.

However, when it came time to add another driver to the mix to help him out, I made the mistake of handing K. Smith the keys to my M3 Chromeline and asking him to tackle Suzuka. I think it was around lap 4 where he just came to a complete stop. He must've been either crying or wetting himself.

He just pulled over? In the middle of a race?!

Well, he didn't just pull over. He had spun out on 3 or 4 consecutive turns and wound up in the grass. Just stopped and sat there for about 15 full seconds. I've seen the AI opponents do it toward the end of some races, as well.
