As I rocketed over the starting line, thus beginning lap 9 of some race or another on Grand Valley, I spotted a lone NSX approaching the hairpin. Instead of sensible braking and taking a good line, I set my sights solely on the NSX's rear and Kept On Accelerating, laughing maniacally as I rammed him miles into the sand. The impact slowed (and turned) my car perfectly into the corner. A quick check in the rear view mirror confirmed that he had been sent into a different time zone. The poor bugger didn't even deserve it - I was lapping him (mind you it served him right for being yellow).
Fun as it was, I get these bizarre pangs of "guilt" when deliberately bumping or shoving computer cars off the road, either for enjoyment (as above) or for more solid "wanting to win" type reasons.
Why is that? God - they're only computer players, it's not like they have feelings or will ***** about it at the pub later...
Somehow, though, I feel that in doing this I am sacrificing my integrity as a driver. It isn't just about winning the race - a little voice tells me that it should be done in a gentlemanly manner. Am I crazy?
Do you willfully bump other cars off the road? Is that, like, "allowed" in your book?
