The cord is tied/crossed on the neck of the pedal and both hooks go underneath the pedal housing. You can readjust the bend on the hook to fit the lip at the bottom of the housing. Here's probably a better photo to show the mods:

Is there any chance that with this configuration, that over time it might put excessive stress on the back of the pedal and snap it off. It seems simple enough but I'm just curious. I don't want to damage anything.

You need to fully depress the gas and brake to calibrate them. You only need to do it once each time you play the game, but remember to do it in the menus or when you're on the grid or the first corner will be even more exciting than usual.

When do you do this?

The bungee cord mod was one of the best things I've done to get better experience out of GT5. It also makes me a better driver as I can feel the resistance on the brake and gas so I can actually modulate them better! Simple yet awesome! This is how I did mine. Just a 2 ft bungee cord around both gas and brake

I also bought the bundle pack to try out different resistances. I tried 18, 24, and 32 inch bands

18 inches - I was able to get the band around the pedals, but the resistance was too much for my liking. I really had to PUSH HARD to get the pedals to 100% braking or full throttle.

24 inches - I found to be the best. Enough resistance on the brakes for me to tell how far I am in, but not too tight that I had to push myself back into the chair to get full throttle.

32 inches - I couldn't get the band to create enough resistance just by wrapping it around the pedals as it is too long. It just comes loose. I had to anchor it to my wheelstandpro, but I didn't like the placement of the band

Hope this helps :)

edit: I bought mine from Frys... http://www.frys.com/product/3539674?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG

I've gone with the squash ball for the brake pedal and highly recommend it. I haven't found any problems with calibration, I just leave it in there and it works. Breaking feels really natural now, just like a real car.

I used both squash ball and bungee cords :)

I have a squash ball under the pedal arm of the brakes and it worked fined, but you get used to the resistance pretty quickly and after a while it doesn't feel like it's enough.

I ordered the 6 pack bungee cables, 12, 18 and 24 inches, and so far I only used the 24 inch one.

I tried a single 24 inch cable just like in the above pic, but found it way too weak. So I hooked it on either side of the base and around the back of both pedals - ie a single bungee for both together and it feels great now 👍
When I did it like in the above pic, I found they get in the way of my feet. Wrapping them around the back of the pedals provides better clearance.

With this setup you can touch the pedal and get 10% throttle and brake quite easily and hold it, whereas before anytime you touched the pedal it would jump to 50% straight away. The squash ball gives you the real brake feel, but the extra resistance from the bungee gives you better feel on the initial push. Being able to push 10-20% on brakes, without ABS, will keep the car from snapping sideways in GT5 now, if you trail brake.

Very easy to brake without ABS now, and throttle modulation with powerful cars and less grippy tyres is sublime!
I'll try some of the shorter length bungee cables and see how they feel

I haven't tried this myself, but have read about others getting a kind of «dual action» with the one cable around both pedals. In other words, pressing the throttle also presses the brake, however minimal. Have you experienced this?

No. Why would it?

The cable goes behind the pedal arm, so any resistance pushes the pedal forward not back

I think I may need to add some protection for the bungee to minimise fraying from the friction, because it does slide up and down the pedal arm

I really don't know, but I suppose the cord would bring the brake down as the throttle is pressed. Moving on thin ice here, as I don't have any first hand experience. But if it's not a problem there is really no need to debate it, right? :-)

I have my bungees set up the same way. definitely the best way to set up the cords. if you wrap them around the pedal arm at all they will limit the pedal travel. i learned this the hard way with the license tests. couldnt get gold even on the easiest tests. while watching videos i realized my car wouldnt accelerate as fast or brake as well as it should be. took the bungees off and saw that there was huge difference in performance. just having 1 cord for each pedal to go around the back of the pedal and not wrap around offers the best resistance and pedal mobility.

Found that out the hard way with my Formula GT.

I'm sure I'll do the same with the X1. :dopey:

lol yea I went flying into the wall a couple times in GT5 because of that

I just purchased my DFGT along with squeeze balls (more like squash balls) they are 5.5cm (2.1 inch) in diameter and I cant fit it into the gaps of the pedals.

Is the ball too big? or do i need to open my pedal housing to fit the ball?
Bungie cord isnt an option right now as i have a wooden floor (hook will be touching the floor and slide around) (i will be getting a wheel stand later)
Thanks
