Ok, here's my situation:
I live in Brazil, the country where a 300$ console is actually 700$ (no, that's not a joke :guilty:)

Anyway, I want a wheel to play GT5, and I found a Driving Force GT for about 290$~300$ (Here is Brazil we use the Real, I'm just trying to make the situation easier for the people here)

So, do you guys think it's a nice purchase? It's the only wheel I can afford, the G27 is almost 520$ here, yes, almost 2 PS3s in USA

So, again, is the Driving Force GT a good purchase now? Is it still one of the tops? I don't even want to see the price of the new wheel here...

Thanks!!

It is a great wheel. I have one and the only problem I have is I wish it had a clutch and an h-gate. However, the FFB and the control is great. I also like the racing style sequential shifter. I have seen them on Ebay as a buy it now for $99 USD. You could see if there are some that ship international.

Buy one for USA for cheap (compared to Brazil)
Maybe even with the shipping it will end up cheaper than one from Brazil ?

Just a thought.

WTF! thats crazy, lucky i don't live in Brazil. how much did a PS3 cost at launch

anyway, I live in Europe and i bought the DGGT for 99€ in a store. its on of the best wheels for such a low prize. if you were here i should say definetly yes, buy.

Check eBay for the Driving Force GT, plus shipping to Brazil should come out to something more reasonable.

I own a DF GT, love it, and it works for the PS2 and PC also which is a plus.

+1, top piece of kit which makes the game pretty special.

Yeah, I tought about buying one from Amazon, but here's the trick: when it arrives here, they tax it, 60% of the value, (Yeah, SIXTY FREAKING PERCENT of the value of the product). So, it's not an advantage as it might seems...
But since it's a great wheel, I think I'll buy it, thanks for the help ^^

Oh, and for Maxitsu: there was a store that sold the PS3 for only 5000$ dollars at launch. Yes, that is serious, it was this price

But the avarage was around 1500$~2000$ at launch =P

The problem is the taxes you have to pay, I don't know about the Hardware but here in Brazil, the taxes on games are about 70 ~ 80% of the price of the game.

And Red9597, I bought this wheel for 300$ on Mercado Livre, it worth every cent. :sly:

And, now that the conversation turned to be of high prices, do you know the "Jogo Justo" project? http://www.jogojusto.com.br/category/sobre/

Yes, I heard about that, hope it works...

Yeah, maybe it's the same guy that I found, I think that in our country, it's the best option =D

i own a dfgt and feel that it is the best value for money.
i have played on a friends g25 and g27 and to be honest the wheel and force feedback is just as good as those.
the pedals are not as good but they are still fully funtional.
i would say go for it especially as it is fully funtional with gt5.

You should have no taxes on ebay. You might have to find someone that will ship it to Brazil.

The DF GT is awesome - makes your driving so much more accurate - you'll just do better in your racing compared to using a ps3 controller. I finally beat that VW Bus race at the Top Gear track. I did it using my wheel and manual shifting/red lining.
