So this has probably been asked a lot, but I just got the wheel today after years of waiting...so is it supposed to wobble left and right? and when i'm going through turns...the force feedback goes out and comes back...and its a brand new wheel also...i'm just worried about the kinds of people that use a wheel up a lot and put it back in the packaging to return new...

Yea its all normal. Takes alot to get used to. Start with weak cars, becaues the powerful cars you wont be able to tame.

Yeah, the X2010 driving straight at top speed makes the wheel shake like a banshee even on Force Feedback 1, but is easy and stable during turns. Just an FYI so it doesn't freak you out at first. Gotta hold it TIGHT.

I just got one too. I hadnt played GT since GT3 and never used a wheel before. It took a few minutes too realize how much steering I had. Once I got better at using it all, I used it faster, the steering. It wobbles, part of a car thats accelerating, tires spinning, bumps, shifts, its just part of the deal and it does it at very specific times and reasons. I say grip it and rip it. Take control, dont wait for it. Im not sure how else to say it, but as an example, Ive been taken it to a few friends houses to let them experience it for the first time too. All three did the same things wrong. They did not drive the wheel hard enough, they did not "take control" of the vehicle. Its not easy, some things Im having to learn all over again and I dont like that, but the reward, when I drive to my liking, is so far worth it and Im getting better. Its only been 6 hours drive time for me. A good way I found to learn and test how hard you can drive it is by going to the lvl30 challenge for the Redbull X1, select Monza. Those first few turns, when taken correctly will have you crossing your arms back an forth very quickly, and powerfully in order to keep up. Almost any fast, well handling car on Cote d'Azure will also force you into driving it as hard as you should be all the time. Its work.
How many hours do you have with it ?

I agree. When I first got my DFGT a week ago, it took me awhile to get use to it because it was my first time using a sim wheel in a game.

Just hold it firm and tight, you'll get use to it, and sooner you'll be running it on full force feedback.

Before, I never really took it seriously driving with my DFGT, Sometimes I would oversteer, and If some minor correcting with the wheel didn't help, I would just restart. Now, I take it seriously, Not only is it more fun and exciting trying to correct the back kicking out, Its seriously improving/changing how I tackle corners, and thats been shaving some time off my laps.

Not exactly FFB related but does anyone know why you don't seem to be able to map the big centre button as the horn? Seems pretty stupid an official GT5 wheel doesn't have an obvious button recognised.

It maps automatically as the horn, did for me.
Are you sure you drive a car that has a horn? Not all do.

My center button was also pre mapped and works as the horn.
The L3(?) button, the button on top of the wheel is also the horn.

How many of you guys are actually using the shifter to change gears? Seems like I've seen a lot of people say they use the buttons/paddles instead, which defeats the purpose of a wheel with a shifter, IMO. Might as well race automatic if you're going to do that.

With a 900 degrees wheel you use buttons/paddles when the wheel is rotated at most at +/- 90 degrees, the shifter when it's rotated more.

I use my shifter to change gears. Its harder to shift if its the buttons on any wheel. I dont mind the paddles, I use it if the car ingame has a pedal shifter, like my R8.

I use the shifter in cars that have a shifter in real life.
Pads on cars which have pads in real life.

:)

Think it's just normal that the force feedback wobble's, due the center spring.
Btw i have the DFP and these wheel's have a huge deadzone wich also can make your wheel feel a bit strange.
One thing I did notice is the fact that over the years (have it since 2006 orso) when I turn the wheel to the right its feels havier than when I turn it to the left, maby because most circuits are counter clockwise there for making more lefthand turns than right handers.

If you are not sure about the wheel just send it back, logitech has a good service maby they'll send a new one.

Remember one thing: Alignement and suspensions settings will have a lot to do with how the wheel will react. I can have a LMP1 car drive very smootly with a tumb on the wheel at 390 kph, when at default settings its gonna bounce left and right. Play with the settings, especialy on high speed tracks. Good luck.

I took one back that was behaving exactly as you describe and the second one acts the same.Hoping for a fix for this.
