I currently own a driving force pro wheel and find it to be excelent with GT4. I havent got GT5 : P yet, but i definately am now that its out for europe. My question is, has anyone upgraded to the new driving force GT wheel and found it to be worthwhile in terms of mainly steering feel/feedback? (on GT5 that is) Is it the same thing in that respect, with only the addition of the other pointless gimmicks? I would definately go for the G25 but I was suprised and dissapointed to find out it has no official support from polyphony. I have however seen videos of it working fine with the clutch and everything on GT5 on this forum. My only concern is that the feedback on it seems a bit weak.

Bottom line which wheel is the best for GT5?

PS i would LOVE it if the g25 is the same in terms of feel as the other two

thanx is advance

The g25 wheel is supported by polyphony you can select it in the game menu.
I have the japanese imported version of the game and use a g25 its amazing.
The g25 is logitechs top of the range wheel and is much better than the other two.
Its got two motors for forcefeedback and a H-type gearchange unit it also has a clutch pedal.
Prologue supports the gearchange and the clutch.

This is a hard question to answer since per "Logitech" website the new wheel will not be sold before May of this year.

Logitech Unveils Official Wheel of Gran Turismo™ for PLAYSTATION®3

Logitech Driving Force GT Wheel Delivers Powerful Force Feedback, Brake Bias and Traction Control Adjustment

SAN FRANCISCO — GDC — Feb. 20, 2008 — Today at the Game Developer’s Conference (GDC), Logitech (SWX: LOGN) (NASDAQ: LOGI), the world’s leading developer of force feedback gaming wheels, announced the Logitech® Driving Force™ GT racing wheel, the official wheel of Gran Turismo™. Featuring powerful force feedback and an innovative 24-position real-time adjustment dial for on-the-fly control of brake bias, traction and damper settings, the Logitech Driving Force GT gives gamers the most accurate and authentic PLAYSTATION®3 (PS3™) racing experience.
“We’re excited to be working with Polyphony Digital again to deliver a wheel that will satisfy the needs of car enthusiasts, like me, around the world,” said Ruben Mookerjee, Logitech’s director of product marketing for gaming. “People who love the striking realism of the Gran Turismo racing series will discover that Logitech’s latest wheel will allow them to experience the cars the way they were meant to be driven. With the Logitech Driving Force GT, you’re not playing games anymore – you’re racing!”
Logitech’s latest racing wheel was meticulously designed by Logitech and Polyphony Digital, Inc., the developer of the Gran Turismo series. The companies worked together to add the unique real-time adjustment dial, a first for force feedback wheels, allowing people to fine tune the car’s balance by adjusting the brake bias, traction control and damper settings. Now Gran Turismo drivers can have precise control over the car’s setup to achieve maximum performance.
“The Gran Turismo series has always been designed for racing enthusiasts,” said Kazunori Yamauchi, President of Polyphony Digital. “The Driving Force GT racing wheel was designed to perfection by our team, specifically for the next generation of Gran Turismo.”
Logitech’s newest force feedback wheel simulates understeer, oversteer, and traction loss with frightening accuracy. While the full-size gas and brake pedals deliver precise throttle and brake response, racers can use either the sequential stick shift or the wheel-mounted paddles to race through gears. The wheel also features a large 27.9 cm (11-inch) wheel with rubber-overmould rim, providing exceptional comfort and control.
The Logitech Driving Force GT turns 900 degrees lock-to-lock allowing drivers to navigate hairpin turns with greater accuracy. And with anti-backlash gearing, there is no slack in the steering response, making any race a smooth, realistic experience. In the centre of the 27.9 cm (11-inch) wheel, the Driving Force GT features an illuminated horn button with the official Gran Turismo logo. Using the authentic sounds of the car being driven, racers can quickly alert other cars when they are approaching fast. Or when playing online, people can simply use the horn to taunt other players as they speed by.
The Logitech Driving Force GT wheel is engineered for use with Gran Turismo 5 Prologue on PS3, which will be available on Blu-ray Disc™ (BD) and as a download on the PLAYSTATION®Network in North America on April 17 and in Europe on March 28. The Logitech Driving Force GT wheel is also compatible with Gran Turismo™3 and Gran Turismo™4 on the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system.
Pricing and Availability
The Logitech Driving Force GT wheel is expected to be available in the U.S. and Europe beginning in May. The suggested retail price is $149.99 (U.S.).

No doubt this wheel will be fantastic but i love the clutch and H shifter of my G25 to much to part with it

Yes, I do love the H shifter and Clutch features. But I only use it for the cars that in real life do have them, cars like the Lotus, Clio or the 350z. And cars that have Sequential or paddle shifters, GT-R or the Ferrari I use the paddle shifters.
I wonder if G25 will be redesigned once full GT5 comes out.

Oh man ... it has a real horn!! Anyone want to buy a used G25 :D Seriously this sounds more like a toy for 8-10 year olds than serious competition for the G25.

if you're truly a hardcore racing fan...get the G25...with the clutch and h gate shifting, it's truly amazing...

if not....get the Driving Force GT

I have a G25, and while it's great, the manettino-style knob on the DF-GT really piques my interest. It may be a bit gimmicky, but I imagine it coming in quite handy from time to time.

-> So what will happen to the PS3 version of the G25? I was really hoping a PS3/GT version to become available. But I'm not weeping just yet, a G25 with the steering capabilities of the DF-GT for the 2nd-gen G25, I'll be going nuts!!!

Its great news that the G25 IS supported by polyphony after all. No ones has commented on the 'feel'/feedback of the G25 (in comparison to the DFP since the new one is not out yet). Is it indeed weaker as the comments I have heard?

Prologue has adjustable force feedback 0-10.When using G25 on 10,it's great. If it's weaker than DFP(don't know),doesn't matter,I feel the stregth is quite big.A LOT bigger than Pdemo.:)
I had DFP on GT4,can't think it's better in anyway than G-wheel!

If the new Driving Force GT does not have smoother and faster motors as part of the upgrade then it really will be little more than a DFP with a horn and a twiddly knob - so to speak! :p

Lets wait and see. Either way, I'll be surprised if it makes me upgrade from my DFP.

I'll never spend $300 for a wheel unless I win $1,000,000 from a game show

$150 is absurd but I have no choice

Driving Force GT for me. Hopefully they fix the pedals bug

And in case your wondering I got my current DFP for $80 at gamestop, it was probably on clearance

The G25s are just now selling for $200 on ebay so I am getting one here in a couple weeks when we get our PS3. The PS3 is what the wife and I are buying for each other as our annnniversary gift to each other. That way I can play games and she can watch blu-ray.:sly:. I just can't wait to have real paddles to shift with. I like the gate shifting aspect as well but I am really looking forward to those paddles when I'm racinf Formula racing on TOCA three!

You will have a lot of fun with the g25 wheel.
You need to get GTH prologue and F1 for your ps3 with the g25 they are both amazing.
I have a ps3 and an xbox360 and to be honest i am spending more time on the ps3 due to the wheel and those two games.
I cant wait for the full GTH5 to be released.

I really like the idea of an adjustable on the go brake bias... plus i'll be a broke college student when it comes out so i'll probably opt for the Driving Force GT... what would be sweet is a new G25 with some of the same new features the the DF GT has... any word of one of those being released for the full GT5 in 2009?

I would like to know if we could use the DFP pedals in the DFGT, I would like to buy one, but remove the pedals of my cockpit it will be difficult.

Driving Force GT Impressions: It seems to be a Driving Force Pro with a few extra buttons and dials.

The problem with the new Driving Force GT is that the gear stick seems to be permanently mounted on the right side.

Driving any Japanese car with a right-sided gear stick is just wrong.

I'm glad I've got my G25. Real metal and leather... none of this plastic and rubber stuff.

did you actually drive it?

supposedly force feedback is much better than on the old DF GT

I have driven the Driving Force Pro and the G25, but admittedly not the GT. I can imagine the force feedback being pretty strong, considering how solid the GT looks. I don't know about everyone else; but I prefer the minimalist approach to buttons on the wheel that the G25 has (2 buttons + 2 paddle shifters) over a lot of buttons and dials.

I might have been able to overlook this if they had decided to couple a stand alone H-shifter with this wheel.

im sure the new wheel will have newer and better force feedback features than the old one. at least they say so on their webside. but untill GT5 actually releases in 2030 the G25 will be outdated i presume! And i think the feature to adjust telemetric data on the go with the new wheel is awsome

how can you have used the Driving Force GT since its not releasing until May?

I'm going to wait until GT5 comes out , by then there could be a new G25 wheel with some dials on it or something .... as I like the fact that you have a clutch and H shifter and I'm really disappointed that the new GT wheel doesn't have those , me like everybody I think were expecting those 2 features to be added as its only logical to do so

i just got the g25 and love it. i have played need for speed pro street and the f1 game on the ps3. i usually dont like arcade racers like need for speed but the g25 and h shifter with the clutch make it a blast. if the g25 can make a game like need for speed fun i can't imagine how great it will be with gt5. i would go with the g25 i don't think you will be disappointed
