Driving In the Rain, Massive Help Needed

But how about on circuits with long straights?
Such as Circuit de la Sarthe?

Depends on how much power you can put down. If you can't go top speed now, then it makes sense to add downforce. If you are losing it on bumps on straights then raise the ride height. Also you will make up a lot of time through corners. What's the point of driving the Formula GT if you have no grip and lose it on every corner?

If you are doing the world championship then use the B-spec settings posted by Sirtokealot, if Bob can do it then surely you can?

So basically do what I do in the dry.
Is it possible to tailbrake in the rain?
Not quite, the basic principals of keeping the car balanced while braking, accelerating and cornering still apply but you still need to be more progressive with the throttle and brakes and the driving lines and acceleration and braking points change accordingly.

Bob has only ever driven in the dry, only level 14 you see...

Okay, thanks for all your help :)

I'm on about you using the B-spec settings to make the Formula GT better to handle in the A-Spec event. Bob also drives in the rain on B-spec version of this championship. If he can win the races with them settings posted, then surely you can 👍.

I already have.
And thanks for the link :)

No problem. Enjoy your holiday in China (Make sure yu don't buy any cheap memory sticks or cloned products though). I need to start doing B-spec as I bought Signature Edition like yourself and I'm in UK. I'm only about Level 16 on it so need to get a move on. Just need the Chaparral 2J Race Car to get some more events done.

Edit:Just opened the competition code thread and heard your flight has been cancelled. Sorry to hear that.

Flight got cancelled due to severe weather conditions :(

If you did the AMG tests, the text window mentions not using the standard dry racing line when it's wet. The rubber laid down makes the track even more slick, which will compromise braking, acceleration, and cornering. Sometimes you'll be fine, but if you're having issues such as you are, then look into changing your lines.

I have the feeling this is not implemented in GT5 and just some text giving the info. IRL you'll have to, but oin-game?!
If it was implemented in-game, why did I finish the AMG challenge 30 secs below gold time, with just following the normal racing line?!

The AI will start a race with whatever tyres they had equipped in the last race (concerns championships), so if the last track was dry they will pit after one lap to change to rain tyres ... if the last race was wet they will start with rain tyres and pit after the first round to equipp the best possible tyres ...

Wow, way to implement the weather system. How long would it have taken to write code that dictates that AI start on the correct tyres?

Well done PD

HUH?
30 seconds???
You deserve a round of applause :drool::drool:

I think it is implemented. They even say it on the demonstration lap for the sectors and I also felt it in the separate sectors. However for the full lap, the track has a lot more grip. I think it is due to a driying line caused by the AI drivers or PD decided to improve the grip levels to make the challenge easier. I found the full laps a lot easier than the sector ones, and I could put the power down better on racing line better and brake better in racing line. That was not the case for the sector ones though. How much did you beat the sector ones. I guess it is a lot less than 30 seconds combined.

I raced the Dream Car Championschip with my Corvette Z1 RM with Traction Conrol at 5, Abs at 1 and rain-tyres. Nevertheless, i had a lot of trouble staying on the wet Nürnburgring.
The handeling of the car felt really awkward, i cannot believe that it is really that difficult to keep a real racecar on a wet track. I personally think that they made it harder than in real life, but unfortunatelly i havent driven any race car on the ring yet. Do you think that the wet physics are realistic ?

I just saw this post.. But I have to admit I have tried the full lap multiple times because I wanted to reach 30sec below gold and the sectors just once or so..
Hmm
Sector1: 0.6sec
Sector2: 4.1 sec
Sector3: 3.8 sec
Sector4: 1.7 sec
Grand total: 10.2

Will try them again..

Sector4: Down to 4.7sec
Sector1 down to 3.8
Bring total time at 16.4 sec

Hmm I don't really feel the need to do sector 2 and 3.. Since 30 sec will be impossible.

I won't deny the full laps are easier and after trying again, yep some parts on the driving line are slippery in the sectors but not in the full lap..
