I don't know how to drive a stick, but I'm sure I have to learn if I want to get the best experience possible out of this game. I haven't purchased the game yet, but I was wondering if there's some sort of training course I can take in game to learn how to drive stick? If I can't learn I probably won't buy the game.

I would suggest using the license tests in the game and watching the examples. The HUD also displays a suggested gear you should be in for each upcomming corner.

Learning to shift in this game isn't hard. It is easy to listen to the engine and know when you need to shift. My nephew learned in the course of about 15 minutes and had never driven MT in any game before that. Driving a MT will be faster than driving an AT because you can select a gear at precisely the right time - rather than relying on the auto tranny to shift when it is pre-set to do so.

Are you talking about driving with a wheel and 6 speed shifter, or just using the controller and selecting manual transmission? Either way, just buy a car and go to the practice mode, select a track and do some laps. The only way to learn is to do it, and once you get the hang of it you'll never want to use auto again.

I find that driving stick with the clutch is just too much for me to handle. Driving stick is fun, but with the clutch also, i definatly need some practice, i want to get there though. I want to race my cobra around like its supposed to be :-)

I'm talking about with a wheel. If I buy the game I'll be getting a g25/g27 with it. I haven't decided which yet. I'm glad there's a practice mode.
