I never had a wheel and was considering a DFGT; how long should i expect to train and race with it to be able to match my controller speed? Or i should be immediatly faster?

It takes time to get used to a wheel. It took me a good few weeks to get used to my G25. I think that once you get used to a DFGT, you should probably be faster as you have better control of how to modulate the power, braking, steering etc.

not very long only a day or two to get use to the wheel. But you would get a lot better as you use keep using the wheel.

It took me about 10 hours to get used to the wheel, and about 50 hours before I was completely comfortable with it and beating my DS3 times.

I also depends on the wheel you are starting out with. If you start out with a high end wheel with a 3 pedal setup and a shifter your time will be longer. If you are using a cheap wheel with 2 pedals you will learn faster. As for getting as fast as a controller you also have to factor in the wheel. A cheap wheel with poor FFB and sub par pedals may not allow you to get to the controller level. At some point you will either get it or you won't. But the replies here all seem to be a good guide. I think it took me 2 weeks to get to the point where I was beating my times. I was using a WMS wheel on Forza 3. The MS wheel had no FFB because I was using a battery so I had to learn to drive without knowing the feeling.
When I switched to a GT2 wheel it only took me a few days to get used to the FFB before I was beating my other wheel times. Once you get to the point on being comfortable you then can start to tweak the wheel setting to get even faster.

You might not be faster (or you might!) but you'll have a lot more fun and your replays will look alot more realistic and less twitchy!

In Gt6, I'd suggest starting FF: 5, Simulation.
Also in driving option turn everything off except ABS...might as well start and learn with optimum settings.
Start with a slower car first (maybe an FF) and see how the wheel behaves when braking, accelerating, turning. Do time trials until you get comfortable and faster with that setup. Then try other configurations like an FR and you'll notice that it behaves differently than an FF car especially during turns and when applying gas. Patience is key, stick with it and I guarantee you'll be better. just my 2 pennies :)

Just hooked up my G27 for the first time this afternoon. Was really discouraging to see how much I suck now. After fiddling around with some of the setting in GT6, and a few hours of practice. I'm went from terrible to below-average. Tons of fun though.
