NZD. ;)

But yeah, its been broke for a number of months now, never really had a great place to mount it to other than the coffee table, so am in no great rush.

Might get the guy who installed my car alarms to take a look at it.

d'oh  dont i just feel like a typical american right now
ok, so i'd have to opt for slow shipping on a used one ;P

Anybody wanna cruise online with me? I just got one and I'm not very good but I have ran a decent lap in a Subaru STI '10 (not one spin! Somehow) and also in a R34.

How do I get the force feedback setting? I believe I need to plug in the one cord to the wall but I don't understand.. It just turns on it's own and I go off the track. Also it doesn't work unless I plug it into the wall first? Sorry but I'm clueless.

The force feedback is powered via the power supply, so that needs to be plugged into a socket. The wheel will calibrate- go all the way one way, then all the way the other, then back to the centre. And yes the FFB is supposed to turn the wheel- you have to fight it- as the weight shifts, the wheel shifts- simples.

And the FFB setting is in the options on your gt homepage.

Ahh ok thanks you for explaining this. I didn't wanna break it or anything so I unplugged it. But why can't I turn with the wheel unless I plug in the force feedback and the drive and quit the menu and unplug it? Everytime I've raced I had to plug it in or it wouldn't turn.

Why are you unplugging it? You should leave it in as the FFB simulates the weight shift/steering feedback of a real car (not that realistic, but does the job).

op, if no one has told you. you NEED to go into options in gt5 to wheel setting, and CHANGE the racing wheel setting to "simulation"

its like night and day from the default settings, which feel wobbly as fuk

....which has no effect whatsoever on the DFGT.

Be smooth!! Also, don't be too hard on the pedals, as the quality is not the best and the spring in the brake pedal tends to get a little out of place after a while (though it can be repaired fairly easily). Other than that they are great wheels once you are used to them!! :D

I was keeping it unplugged until I knew what it did. It felt like I was gonna break it and I just unplugged it.

Nah, the wheels are built to withstand a lot of abuse. :) Don't be at all afraid to fight the force of the wheel (only when racing, not when it does its calibration test before starting the game) as thats half the fun. As others have said, the feedback setting changes how much force it uses when you slide etc.

If you've ever got a car sideways in real life the wheel does the same thing (although it almost seems easier to control in real life as you can feel the g-forces and can reasonably predict what the car is going to do).

I just got the same wheel too. FF cars are nailed down easy, the others well that's a different story. I find that I understeer and then oversteer way too much with leads to disaster, I agree with so many points already mentioned it's uncanny.

I only revert back to the pad for late night racing, to maintain the peace lol which only ads to the frustration (must get my own place) Add me if you like for some wheel only races.

Also, don't try and turn the wheel too much, you shouldn't really need to turn the wheel much more than about 100 degrees to the left or right. A lot of people new to wheels think that more lock= more turn, whereas it just gives you horrific understeer and wears you front tyres out.

i think you should do some gym and later on change ffb to 10 and you are better,i am ok with this, although i am 13 only!

You're saying if I slide a car in real life the wheel will counter steer automatically?

the only thing i dont like about the DFGT is when you're going down a straitaway and you let go of the wheel it wobbles back and forth, some to do with the force feedback im sure but i could do without it. other than that once you get the hang of it you will be faster and much more consistent with a wheel

It definately does move, but you still need to work the wheel so that when the back stops sliding, you go straight. Or in the opposite direction if properly drifting.

Tried force feedback and it makes driving a lot more fun. I still can't drive anything very fast but an '10 STI or the R34 Skyline is pretty easy to drive.

Before I start ranting about my serious problem, I just wanted to point out that yes.. I've used the search bar, and with my basic english knowledge I didn't find any threads about it. I'll now then proceed to find answer in this thread, because I don't want to start one because of just one issue.

Now, I have a problem with my DFGT now and then. Sometimes, while driving a car, it will brake on it's own. The brake lights will flicker quite frantically and make my car less competitive. This problem annoys the hell out of me, and I don't know where this problem is coming from and how to fix it. I also hope I'm not the only one with this problem because that would leave me in a ****** position, because I wouldn't know what to do, so I'm wondering if somebody has experienced this and know what to do with it?

Sorry if there is any wrong grammar etc. you see, and I don't know of.

Unless you're playing and your sister presses the brake like mine does, I don't think I'll find an actual solution for you. I'm not 100% sure but it could be a faulty wheel. Have you tried calling Logitech and telling them about it?

Call Logitech Nate, they have excellent customer support.

To the OP, tips?
Tell mom and dad to return it and buy a G27. Much better wheel, and you can then experience GT5 with a clutch. The DFGT was fun at first, but I outgrew it very fast and promptly upgraded. You won't regret it.

I do believe you have the option of trading it in to Logitech for the G27 if your warranty is current, AFAIK. However - it's sometimes more educational to crawl before you run; familiarising yourself with the movements of a wheel is relatively easy on the DFGT, which I've found to not only be exceptionally user-friendly (when properly befriended) but also can be used across a wide variety of driving games - TDU2, NFS, Nascar, Ferrari Challenge, etc.

It's versatile, takes a beating, (apart from fights with SkylineObsession's cat) and eventually there will always be someone using it. Enjoy!

Great advice in this thread - and the other one, too. Kudos to the gurus.

No, I have not. Does Logitech have some sort of international warranty? If so, how long does that warranty last? I bought my DFGT November 2010.

Atleast my G25 had a two year warranty but no idea about the DFGT.

I have a similar problem though! My pedals are really old (well... my whole set is really old and everything is slowly braking down, no money for a new one either :nervous:) and the wire has been slowly wrecked over the years so it does similar stuff like sometimes the accelerator doesn't go full throttle and sometimes the brake will flicker slightly.

Check the wire for the pedals to see if there's any visual signs of wear. When flicker occurs try gently moving the wire around and see if that makes a difference. I often get my pedal problems solved by trying to move the wire in different positions gently. Every time I eventually get it in a position where there's no significant problems (often the accelerator won't go 0%, it stays at 5% but that's not a big problem), but sometimes it takes ages and is really frustrating.

I don't know why but it seems as though the brake isn't right. I'm noticing I'm overshooting corners because I'm not braking enough even though I think I am.

I would suggest he try it first. I went from a dfgt to a g27 at a friends house and hated it. The flappy paddles are massive, get in my way and the steering wheel is too small and not even round its more like a 1/6 hexagon and wobbles when it turns. But the ffb is horrible on the dfgt and on the g27 it's very smooth and nice

I have had this problem recently. It turned out to be dirt in the mechanism. I took the pedals apart and cleared the dirt - no problems any more. Be warned; you must put it back together EXACTLY as it was or you will create more problems. Took me three attempts to get it right - its a bit tricky! Have a good look when you take the back cover off to make sure you know where everything goes. Don't try to fix it while the game is running as it seems to mess up the calibration.
Good luck!
