Getting fed up with the number of people who drop out of races online. I know some of it is being disconected but i just started a race with 12 people and only 3 finished. Why do it? I enjoy racing at the back as much as at the frount. Its better than just sitting in the room waiting.

I also get really annoyed about this. When the damage is on high and somebody takes a shunt in the first corner they tend to back out. I can understand if it's a 2 lap race but in a long one it's annoying.

I fear some people just come for a look and end up in the race, when they are not winning they drop off.

Personally I generally try to finish, last week I was a minute slower then the first guy on the Nordschleife (missed some preparation on the Yellowbird) but I finished in the time limit :)

Maybe indeed good not to put damage too high. When your car would be towed off in real life, I would also quit in the virtual one.

People don't like losing. People are insecure.

It's worse on 1 on 1 games. Beat somone on Street Fighter (or even if you lose) and half the time you'll get an insulting message through PSN.

I try and finish races even if i'm miles off the pace. Sometimes I just park my car somewhere and put the TV on for a few minutes while the race is going on. If your on a short track it won't take too long to get to the pits after a heavy crash, but if you smash your car on the Nurburgring Nordshleife of 24hours circuit, you could be driving for up to 20 minutes with the wheels on sideways.

try to play a UFC game... people just sit in the lobby and wont ready up if they think they will lose or if you have a good record... in GT5 i drift more then i race

Agreed. UFC I had to stop playing. I was on a 50 match win streak and as a result had a very good record and nobody would fight me unless they were reached higher.... Same thing happens in GT just instead of it being one it's lots of people.

It's a shame when people quit out, but generally I find that folks are happy to race whatever their position, unlike forza where everyone ends up in the same car and tries to win, in GT, people pick their favourite and enjoy the drive. Well, I do anyway.

It gets very tiresome in Forza racing against "leaderboard" cars.... I had one and I could barely stand to see another MKII Golf because of that game.

I can't stand it when people do that, what a bunch of little *******. At least have the decency to pull over and wait for the race to finish so everyone can get their money and xp..I never quit races I find it to be a sore losers way of doing things. I can always accept a loss xD

Exactly. I get most of my xp online (Its slow but oh well) It takes alot longer finishing races with 2 people that started with 12.

Thats the way i feel about it. Good post.

Hate it too.. Some people tend to drop out if they slide out of the track and end up in the back... They won't even try to catch up again. So lame..

I know the feeling, this is why I never really race against unknown people at all anymore. I have about 30+ friends in my GT5 list and usually I can get into a race with at least 10+ people who won't "rage" quit. I only really race online in tournaments and fun races with buddies i have, but for XP and points the Seasonals fill that gap very well, hope PD makes the points boost permanent because believe you me after level 24 XP points are totally useless.

The only time I quit out is If I have no chance of gaining and it's a boring track, or if I lose control and crash with damage on high. I can usually make up a good lead on the Nürburgring though. Managed the other day a last place false start to 2 seconds behind the leader, it seems people are slow on the Nürburgring. Either that or I don't fear it.

Only when your losing then.

This is what the thread is about. You entered a race to win or lose. Sound like win or quit. When you drop out everyone racing loses out on cr and exp. More racer and laps = more cr and exp. Money doesnt matter but still sucks.
Heavy damage can be taken care of in the pits. I can see if your frustrated by getting slammed by another player or something but dont just quit. GT5 needs good sportsmanship

I prefer being in the back. It's a challenge to drive in a pack.

To be honest. If I'm in last place with zero chance of recovery, I see no reason at all to finish the race.

It would be an utter waste of time.

The #1 track I've seen this happened loads........Nürburgring. in fact I"m certain that most individuals despise Nürburgring because of it's ratio of corners to straights.

I always believe in a fair race too. I was doing Cape Ring with a 458 and the drivers were using LMPs. I asked them if they could switch and they just simply ignored my request. He started the race anyways with no boost. I did my best with no TCS or any aids. No luck. I simply left lobby with a smirk at my face:

They were both using skid recovery and TCS. Amateurs.

Haha, i normally use the car I want to use (not the fastest available to win a race) and I always end up being last place due to everyone behind me quitting the race. Most of the time about 5 players.

this thread is dedicated to people like you, everyone loses, theres been times a few friends and i did a race on the ring with damage on high and i would misjudge a corner and crash horribly, what did i do? i put her in gear and continued till the race finished, worst comes to worst just sit there till the race finishes, so your opponents get their deserved $/xp and you still get yours for just sitting their, this is an epidemic when racing online, people need to learn to accept a loss and not be a sore loser.

I rarely quit.I need to have a really good reason to convince me to quit.Take for instance, the last race I did I was in 5th out of 9 people on the Nurb,1st/4 laps.Everyone behind me and the person in 4th were not even close to clean racers,I got sick of being rammed back into 9th,catching back up to 4th and having the guy in 6th ram me on the next corner. So I quit, watched the race, joined the next one and made damn sure I got ahead of them very quickly.

The better-ment of your fellow competitors.
Practice for yourself so you won't always be last.
Enjoyment of driving the cars you've worked hard for.

Pick one.

Personally, I'd like to see something akin to a "dropped race" ratio, and be able to set your room accordingly. That way you could get people willing to race in your rooms, while weeding out the pansies that can't stick out a 3-5 lap race.

As far as i'm aware there is no win/loss record that you or the other drivers will see online, so rage quitting is pretty much pointless. Even if you do get last, you still get at least something for staying in the race. Quitting is just cheating yourself out of money and exp, even if it is a few thousand.

I would only leave a race if my brother wanted to play shadows of the damned(since its his ps30 or i actually had to turn the ps3 off to do something. Well, also if theres only one other person in an endurance race.

It's a game. Everybody chooses to be there. It's for fun. Nobody is obligated to stay if they want to leave. You honestly think people "owe" it to you to stay in a race just because they started it?

If it's money and xp you're worried about, run the Ferrari seasonal. 1,000 times the money and xp per minute of online racing.

Most people who play online have some sort of wall built into their brain that says "this person isn't real, it's just online", and they fail to recognize how disrespectful that kind of behavior is. There's plenty of things in life where you can just 'get up and walk out', but it is incredibly disrespectful to the people around you.

It's annoying. I was in a Le Mans race wth 16 others, I ended up 6th and stayed there, which wasn't bad. After a while (on the second lap) I was second to last! (5th)

I tried as a pilot classic enduro race a 20 lapper of Monza. 9 started.... 1 was still going by lap 14. Damage was full, and credit to one guy in a GT40 who was 4 laps down but still soldering on, before he quit...

I dont usually leave, unless the guts are being cheap, I was racing on Daytona yesterday in a lobby called awesome cars, everyone had different cars, and some FGTs, and since I just got one, I used it too, and since boost was on high everyone was equal, I got in first was pit maneuvered in the turn, caught up, 2nd time again they did it, 3rd time got out front, guess what? Pit maneuvered again, caught up to the pack and gained the lead, getting close to the end of the race now and guess what? Pit maneuvered again, so I left the race :(
