It doesn't.
E30. Nuff said. They're dirt cheap where I live.
Im so sick of LS's! I want to move to Japan where V8's are slim to none.
fastfox400The vq weighs more than the VH. Power wise they are similar but the VH has a better torque curve.
fastfox400A V8 will always have abetter power and tq curve than a v6. It will always be that way. A v8 has more potential whwn comparing apples to apples.
Powellx235Supercharged v8s are heavy as hell! (ive been told) you could make much more power out of a turbo 6cyl
Spank, I'd go vq, it would give a better distribution.
ProtegeDrifterThanks for being a great group of guys (and an occasional groupie who gets passed around (not stating any names, LIBBIE)) who contribute to the GTP community 👍.
Here you are comparing apples to oranges. Now build a V8 to handle the 2.1 bar, the V8 will make more hp and tq. It will also have a flatter tq band along with more usable power. I have built LS based V8's that make peak power well into the 8k rpm range. So your point is mute. Any time you have more displacement you have more potential energy. It laws of physics. Also depending on the brand of the V8 it can make the same amount of power for less initial cost. I had a turbo'd LS2 Camaro, pushing 32psi which is 2.15 bar, it was making 980 hp, with 910 ft/lb of torque to the rear wheels. Peak hp was made at 8300. It also made peak boost at 3400. Lets see even a 2jz make that much boost that soon in the rpm range. Most inline 6's have very short power bands because how long they take to spin up.When the turbo hits full boost on a straight6 it will have huge torque.
The new low brain drifters member (juha rinanten) has a 2jz s14 running 2.1bar boost and revs up to 8500rpm aswell. Thing is, it has something like 750hp, but puts out a huge 1008ft-lb of torque! I'm pretty sure that will outdo any NA v8.
Its actually only about 48lbs more than a SR. Also most of the weight is in the transmission. The LS1 is only 70 odd pounds (about 30kg) heavier than the SR because the sr is cast iron block and the LS is aluminum. The RB and LS1 are nearly the same, but weight balance isn't a big deal in drift cars anyways unless you're tryin to be fast with less angle. You can not make more power with a turbo 6 stock for stock, and with modifications the LS is more reliable and still has higher potential with a more ideal powerband
