I just got back from test driving one of these. It was actually a pretty fun car. It would be a decent daily driver but not a fun ride if you had to go for long rides.
This thing cornered quite well. I could stay right on it and push it pretty hard depending on what RPM I was at and how much the turbo spooled.
There was a fair amount of understeer if you got on the gas in a corner. Mainly because of AWD. The seats were very uncomfortable and stiff but looked nice for a stock car.
The acceleration was decent in 1st and 2nd gear. It still had some pull in 3rd. Started to drop off in 4th. These things launch like mad. Out of the hole they are very impressive with the AWD. I will refrain from listing MPH or any speeds since they are prohibited by the site. I can answer any questions or comments tomorrow morning.

I want one in Steel Grey. It's an excellent color on an excellent car.
Having driven a standard WRX on many occassions and enjoyed every minute, I'm sure I'd also love driving the STI.

I'm not sure why you didn't like the seats though. I thought they were pretty damn comfortable for what could be considered a "racing seat."

My next car will be an STi. Black, and wingless. 👍 A friend of mine had a WRX, and he recently traded it in for one of those, and I can seriously said it's one of the best bargains out there currently.

Yep. They're pretty badass rides. One of my buddies has a blue STI. Slightly modded - making some decent power. That **** is fast as a ***** from a stop - especially since he has drag radials on all 4 wheels! I still own him, though.;) I will say his car sounds absolutely awesome!

Now drive the 2005 model. The helical differential, I heard, helps the handling character quite a bit. Still, sweet man :) I always wanted to drive one of those, even if I'm not a big fan of Subaru's boxers.
