this trick improved my counter steering, maintaining my angles and exits a lot but putting the rubber band on the right analog feels really strange....so i'm just going to stick with the x button because i am more used to it, but its really a great trick tho thanks for telling us about it

i've just finished setting up the rubber band thing. I'm a drifting n00b so it'll be interesting to see how this affects my drifting. report back soon...

some of the better drifts in my first video were pulled off with the rubberband trick. I havent tried it in a while, I grabbed a handful of rubberbands from work the other day...

Well since my room was messed up by all new things coming in, I had to put away my DFP for a while..............but for a week long holiday withstanding the need of drifting; well........I couldn't do that.....so I tried it with the DS2, well the one thing is, you get snap back more easily, but somehow, because you have to be so gentle, only loong gentle corners were do-able for me, not short ones: that were just snap back corners.

Well I can't decide now what's more difficult, but the DS2 sure is a VERY fun way to drift, not that it completely sucks compared to the DFP, it sucks just a tiny bit:sly:

Great to finally have some GT4 DS2 drift experience, I loved that week.

BUT I'M BACK WITH MY DFP NOW MUAHAHAHHAHAHA!!!

Howdy

I use the controller and I have been drifting in granturismo 4 for about a month now. I also drift in need for speed underground. Drifting in granturismo is harder. :nervous: :indiff: :guilty: :scared:

I spent the weekend playing alot of Forza. What does this have to do this DS2?
Well the xbox doesn't have a wheel so I am forced to use a controller and I gain alot of thumb precision practice. This inspired me to try GT4 with the DS2, and to my surprise, the practice paid off and I can countersteer smoothly with the DS2 now.

I normally play GT with a wheel (DFP). Anyways, much time spent with the controller I discover that doing the half moon trick was not the best way for me to control the amount of steering. Nor was the rubberband trick. Obviously it is practice, but I recommend that you practice slight angles on the analog sticks and practice holding these angles as your right thumb does other actions like accel and brake. I find the secret is you apply a bit of pressure down on the L3 sticks as you countersteer and this helps you keep it there. Also when the drift starts, you just slightly countersteer. Not much at all, just hold it like 5 - 10 degrees into countersteer and you will be able to increase and decrease your angle with the trottle and brakes, just remember to keep that left thumb steering consistently. 👍
If you start gasing and getting more angle, then increase the countersteer angle to get a better drift angle.

What do you guys think?

Yep sounds like you've gained progress much, pretty handy that Forza stuff.
Only thing I had problems with was increasing my angle in the drift just enough so it countersteered more, but didn't do a snap back, pretty difficult

i tried the rubberband thing too and first i crossed it underneath connecting both left and right analog sticks but then the right stick also means to accelerate/decelerate depending where the stick is.

then i tried connecting both ends of the rubberband underneath (and crossed over) the right analog stick but it offers too much resistance. too much resistance

i also use the ds2. i tired with a wheel but didnt really like it. i like to just use the normally controller, using 'x' for gas and the left analog for steering. i have the buttons switched around for easier shifting and hitting the nitrous button which i think helps quite a bit.

i have tried this setup but it doesnt seem to be working for me i need to get a lap done for this months gtpdc becaus ei cant use my dfp a dog chewed the power wire i dunno maybe im not using the right size rubber band

This is exactly how I started drifting, but I use D-pad.

Ahhhh, someone else representin' D-Pad. 👍

i have been using the ds2 lately with the rubberband i have found the right tension that i want and i can hold my c/s and drift like i was using my dfp down side fingers hurt and hands get sweaty but i used my ds2 tonight on xlink and it was rather fun and nice looking i am glad someone came up with that idea it has allowed me to get back to my roots as a ds2 drifter later guys

i use the ds2 and what i did was practice with the rubber band for a few days then took it off, the rubber band taught me how to counter steer now i can fully make it around turns and stuff i think its just a teaching tool then just take it off

Somehow, my best time was just one week of drifting one month ago, the DS2 period, cause I wasn't able to drift with DFP since my room was repainted.

That was a fun time, it's just so more relax than all that pulling on a wheel.

I use both sticks.

I've found that if I flick the steering stick rather than move it smoothly when steering into a drift, I can stop over counter steer occuring.

No rubber bands as a new controller shouldn't need them. I've also drifted with a DF wheel which I found easier as the steering feedback is much more realistic. The wheel steers it's self as in a real car, so after feinting the steering wheel will turn on it's own, meaning only a little tweak is needed to control the drift.

Well I use DS2 X button and left stick.I'm pretty good with it and the wheel is TOO expensive and mom will probably break it or something she always has her nose in my stuff so yeah.......
