Welcome to Round 4

Track: Autumn Ring

Sprint Race: 6 Laps no tirewear
Tyres: Racing Super Soft

Main Race: 18 Laps no tirewear
Racing Medium

Weight Penalty's

Sphinx----------> 8% weight added
Sjaak68---------> 4% weight added
The Internet----> 2% weight added
appie17---------> 1% weight added

Sbatts6-------------> 1% weight decrease
Pink_The_Floyd------> 1% weight decrease



these are the rules:

- 2 races per week
- 1 Sprint race
- 1 Main race
- 1 point for the fastest lap
- 1 point for the fastest lap in the main race
- I'm giving you a week to submit your time
- For balancing the racing field weight penaltys will be given or
- drivers will get a decrease of weight
- Save your Races
- Stewart can ask for replay

- Rules for AI:
- AI difficulty must remain 0
- AI must have the same tyres (Supersoft for sprint,medium for main)
- Keep it as clean as possible,no touching on purpose.


-2 wheels on track at all times
-Rumble Strips are part of the track
-No wall riding
-No wall touching
-No short cutting
-No Cheating of any kind

Top Speed - Your choice
Driving Aids - None
Transmission - Your choice
Tire Type
- Racing Super Soft for Sprint race
- Racing Medium for the Main Race

2nd place 8 pts
3rd place 6 pts

i also wonder why are those astras finishing so low... is it really all on the drivers or the car is really a bit slower? (i read something about the audis being slower, also the alfa completely overmatched...)

the car looked good while i ran, but i still can´t say anything because i´m yet to drive other cars...
 
i think it can be the drivers, because why do you have a podium finish:)

I'm finishing so low because I'm not putting any time into it. I think this week will be differant, since I happen to love Autumn Ring. :)

IMO, the Astra was a bit slower in the earlier races but now that the extra weight has been applied I would say it now has the edge over the BMW on this sort of track. However, that also means the CLK and the A4 should now be the favourites to grab the win, but it does depend who's driving them.
 
Damn I missed the last week so I'll try to do well this week.
Nice track. Though 18 laps? :scared: That's long.

I reckon the submission date might be a little hard to meet this time :D.

As to the potential performance of the Astra, then it will be quite good here. The CLK less so as it does not react well to curbs and there are a plethora of high ones here at Autumn Ring.
 
Sphinx, Congrats on another excellent race and win!

...Really bummed about my performance last week, Im better than that. Ill try to get some more time in this week and give you guys a run, but its the last week of classes, and predictably all my professors are piling on the work.
 
YAY! Autumn Ring! I love this track, so i should do well here
 
had some tries last night, on the sprint race. best times are 21´6 and 50´2...

the AI is really painful, they will trade paint with you... they have a tendency of hitting you from behind also...

but i really liked the way the car handles on the track:tup:
 
just improved my total sprint time by 3 seconds!

i've done my sprint race. Might give it one more go to improve it, but it's likely i won't. Now just the feature to go.

The weight is going to have more and more influence.
Therefore I like to know what car casio is driving.

didn´t get as much time as i liked in my favorite track, but i´m happy with the results i got from the astra.

i heard a lot about the car being mismatched, and i really didn´t understand, because the first race i did, was at high speed ring. i forgot to submit a time of 16´13´008, which would give me the win. so i thought: "the car is very good, this will be fun"

then i had a lot of time in el capitan, but finish 3rd in the race i did... not bad, but considering what had happened in HSR, i start to think what was wrong with the car... (or the driver:sick: )

after finishing my race at autunm ring, i took the BMW for a spin.

now i get it. the difference is the handling, the astra will do well in fast tracks, like HSR... but the BMW handles so well, that´s a clear favorite for tight tracks... is that for balancing the cars, the BMW got a reduced weight...

so even with 10+ of weight penalty, the car will still have regular braking and cornering... maybe its something to think about later, if the cars with negative weight run away with the series...

anyway, i´ll find my splits and i will post them since i have nothing to do at work this morning:)

had some trouble with the AI, and some scary:sick: moments during the races, but it was lots of fun... and also checked to see if it were normal events of a real race... 0´6 difference between all laps in the main race and 0´2 in the sprint race...

it was like a real race, i love those long events... makes you feel like you´re actually a driver:dopey: i think i´m addicted to GT, but that´s a different story...

Bull! who's fooling whom here? We've been through this before. A clear favourite for tight tracks? Try the BMW, A4 and CLK at Tsubuka, which is a "tight track" is it not, and if you drive them correctly you will find that they aren't that much different, and now with -8 weight the other two cars will be better regardless of handling. I admit one has to work harder in some cars than others, but that's down to ability right? Anyway, It's already been shown to be the case in other threads so don't put yourself out.

I'm fed up with this belittlement of other's achievements. I'm aware that some of you are new to this than others, but I've been doing this OLR for years now (and yes fasj6418 , I remember you from Racing-Line because I was there all those years ago) and I have never known a group of racers belittle the achievments of others in any series I've entered as I've seen here. You all make it sound that the only reason I'm winning this is because I'm driving the bloody BMW. Give me the A4 or the CLK and the result would've been the same

I mean no offence to Appie because I know that this is his first attempt at hosting, but you guys can shove this series up your arse!

@fasj6418, This isn't entirely directed at you or your comments mate, It's just that yours was the last straw. Sorry.

well i know, i just tried the Opel and the BMW. that was my initial feeling among the 2 of them. but i had this talk before, in the JGTC series, and we´ve been over this for almost a year. like real life, cars will not be even, because if it was, it would be like running just with one car.

but the point was not to make that driver a or driver b is only winning the series because of the car. if that was what it looked like in the post, then i did not express myself right. that would make me a loser, i don´t want to look like that. and yes, i know, its more to the driver than to the car. looks like the only mismatched car was the alfa... but them again, for everyone, don´t take those posts too seriously, sometimes its just chit-chat talk.

in last season, veilside won the JGTC series running with a underpowered car, so i know that its really up to the driver...

so no offense...
