Yes, it's here, the 34 race DTM tournament, this thread will contain everything you need to know about round 3.​

Transmission Top Speed setting may be altered
You may use Racing Super Soft Tires for Qualifying only

Qualification Rules​

Racing Super Soft Ties may be used.
There is not limit to how many qualification laps you run, but please PM me your race and qualification lap in at the same time.
Rumble strips are part of the track.
Please do not use any cheat devices while qualifing or racing.

Race Rules​

Please run only the given amount of laps.
If you ever go off the track, return to the course but add 2 seconds to your overall race time.

After Race Rules​

Please only PM me your times in between the given dates unless you have a reason (holiday etc.).
Don't argue about your qualifing position or race result, if anything seems suspicious, I will take care of it.​

Series News.

Thing are very close at the top of the table as East overtakes George Morley to take top spot, lead by only one point.
Everyone takes points at Midfield after only 6 drivers entered the race, SuperT and Oldphart take thier first championship points finishing in 4th and 6th.

Team Vauxhall Astra on 28 points come closer to Opel Astra after East's victory, Audi A4's promising performence at Midfield see them overtake Audi A4 Team 2 in the contructors table.


Some new rules have been announced today, all drivers must pit at least once on each track, even if thier tyres are not worn, the new rule will come into action in round 5, and will stay for the rest of the championship.

DUNDA will be disqualified if he does not submit his time for round 4, this will be another major blow to his team who are in desprate need of points, niether of thier drivers have submitted a time yet, although the driver Six String has told me he has reasons, therefore will stay in the championship.
 
Sorry for not submitting last race George, too much going on in real life.

Don't worry, with it being such a long series, not everyone will beable to submit every time.
 
New rule, all times must be submitted by 12:00 Midday London UK Time, this is when the results will be put up, not submissions after that time will be accepted (Drew you got lucky this time :lol:).
 
What time zone is London in? (In GMT format please)

Just a suggestion, maybe to add a little more sense to the mandatory pitting rule, the drivers must start the race on the tires they qualified on just to add a little more strategy to the race/qualifying.

That doesn't really add any strategy at all!

Everyone (If they have any sense, that is) will quali on RSS tyres .: 3-4 laps on RSS and then the rest of the race on what makes the distance.

A real no brainer then?

Even if you think there's no strategy involved, the mandatory pitting rule would make more sense because if you qualify on soft tires, you'll have to pit earlier than someone who qualified on hard tires.

I'm a huge fan of the "start the Race with the tyres you qualified on" rule, however I think the race distances in this series are too short to bother with it!
 
we should have to start the race with the tyres we qualify on i like that idea
 
I gotta agree with Neil, it takes away what little strategy there is on short races.

But I gotta say (and I'm not the only one who feels this way) if the Astras win for the fourth time some adjustments need to be made. I know Neil and I are as good of drivers as everyone else here ( we just took first and second in the JGTC this week) but if our cars are not equal to the rest, there's no way for us to ever win here. I can consistantly run about one second a lap faster in the Astra over the Audi. Several people have already dropped out and more will follow if parity is not implemented soon.

I agree aswell, might be time to do some testing George 👍 I notice the Audi TT has 10 more HP and 80 more Weight, just an idea but how about as a temporary (maybe even permanent if it works out) fix until some proper testing is done that every car will be adjsuted to match the Astras stats of 454 BHP and 1000KG? This for the Audi would mean -2% Power and -7% Weight.
 
I'll see what I can do before round 5, exept I've recived no round 4 times yet....

been a problem before the start of the series
get a couple of different guys to do the testing
combine the test
adjust accordingly

Me in the DTM round 1 thread
I have just spent the last couple of hours running the whole pack (with power and weight figures correct) around not only the Test Course, but also Deep Forest!

I didn't concentrate on lap-times round the test course, because once the car is up to it's terminal velocity, the lap times in each car with that T.V. will be the same(-ish), plus I wanted to keep my 'will to live' intact.

The results are rather interesting to say the least
(obviously there is some margin for error, as I am not perfect! I know! It was a surprise to me too! ) but here they are :-

CAR-HP/KG=P/W ratio-Terminal V.@T.C.-Time @ D.F.

Alfa 155 - 459 / 1010 = 0.4544 - 185 - 1'12.1xx
Audi A4 - 454 / 1080 = 0.4203 - 184 - 1'10.1xx
Audi TT - 464 / 1080 = 0.4296 - 183 - 1'09.7xx
M. EvoII - 448 / 0980 = 0.4571 - 185 - 1'11.6xx
M-B CLK - 443 / 1000 = 0.4430 - 185 - 1'09.5xx
O.Astra - 454 / 1000 = 0.4540 - 185 - 1'09.2xx
O.Calibra- 420 / 1040 = 0.4038 - 181 - 1'13.8xx
V.Astra - 454 / 1000 = 0.4540 - 185 - 1'09.1xx
V.Calibra- 449 / 1060 = 0.4235 - 184 - 1'14.1xx

The Deep Forest time was after 3-5 laps in each car, except for the Alfa and the two Calibra's, they got ten each just to make sure.
Both of the Calibra's (Vauxhall and Opel) behave like shopping trolleys, and unfortunately the Alfa, even though it has the second highest power to weight ratio, doesn't corner very well either (As anyone in GT300's JGTC knows from the way it gets in the way at every corner). But is no-where near as bad as the Calibra's.

tried a race and this track is a tire eating mo'fo !@
Neil, we've got our work cut out this week :(

still looking forward to some parity amoungst the cars... tired of running over a second behind without even getting behind the wheel :(

One day left to submit, I've recived one time, come on people!

After this round I'm going to sort out the cars so we can have a fairer series.
 
george, here's one suggestion for next round.
you pick a small list of cars. and a long list of tracks. get drivers to subscribe to the round.
and then you let all drivers drive the same car for the same track, and the next car for the next track.
fun for the drivers cos they get to know all dtm cars very well.
and no problems with faster and slower cars within the dtm class.
heck, then you could even program cars such as the gtr racer into the program which is also sort of a dtm car but then a bit plus.
well that's my $0.02.
 
I don't know BR, anyway, looks like me and TS are both going to get podiums at the moment (only me and TS have submitted).

I like your idea BR, I had thought about the same setup, but felt I'd get too much flak if I brought it up....but since you did, great!!! It would be similar to the WRS where everyone is driving an identical car and setup....now that's parity. It would be fun to see that in RL, but it could never happen...but here it can happen.

Hey Bigracer (BR?) I think George was trying to say "I don't know, BR" :)

I like your idea too! As does Drew, but IMO it WOULD end up as a DTM based WRS, and there is only room for one WRS in't there?

The whole point of these long race series's's's's's is to stay in the same car all season and learn the in's and out's of it.

I just wish it was in GT mode, then I could dial-out the bloody understeer on this Audi TT!
Then we would see some faster times from all the TT drivers!

On that note, a thought George...I don't even think about submitting until the last moment. The reason is I may just cut a time that is quicker than I've got "in the bank". This morning was a case in point, as I shaved over a second off the qual and over 6 on the race. If I'd posted to you what I had before, well :) .... even if I'm not in the points this week, I've got my partner to think about. Have I given him justice ? Have I tried my best run ? I'm lucky in that I've got a partner that understands he's quicker than I am and is ok with it :)

On the parity issue.... I too have thought about what was brought up, the WRS style of racing vs. the getting familiar with the car we are currently in. Call me a "washing machine" on this one, wishy-washy. I feel both points of view. As my dear friend brought to light, "there is only one WRS". The long series is to "adapt" to the ride. Yes, Neil, "balls" has a point that I would also like to delve into, correcting the understeer. My first thought to that is, "JGTC". My car in that series also eats the fronts. This weeks track, the twisty, tire screaming b**ch that it was !, well, I'm asuming that we all have an understeer problem... we better ! or I'm going to be really pissed off ?! LOL... so, I tend to lean to "tweak and adjust", weight penalty ... ala' JGTC wouldn't be out of the question.... the main thrust is to allow a tight race for the championship, which is currently lacking :( ... I think that I "our" main concern here ?

Finaly, yes, I'm a long winded oldphart :) LOL
