Hey all,

Just a quick note about the Dual Shock 2 buttons. I didnt realise until a few days ago that the buttons on it are actually pressure sensitive! Is this something that everyone already knows or did i get some faulty controllers??

Its kewl in a way, coz i thought that the buttons (ie. Gas, Brake) were either on or off, but there not. You can actually adjust how much gas you want to give or how much brake you want to apply, like using the pedals on racing wheels.

Im guessing that most people already knew this but if you didnt, well now you do.

:D

Yeah I realised that a while ago its pretty kool except I some times press down too hard and I get the shape of the button in my finger!

LMAO, how long have you had the system? and you jsut realized that? LOL no offense, i just think its funny, but yes they are all like that, pressure sensative. Have fun.. :-p

Meeh.. I had mine for a LONG time before I realised. I use sticks to play GT3 and the buttons for Tekken - Which we all know works better the harder you push :D

are your buttons indented
mine are flat with the 'labels' painted on :irked:

not only are the gas and brake pressure sensitive, your directional pad is as well, so you can control how agressive you turn in and out of corners

all the buttons are pressure sensitive (exept L3, R3)

i use the left stick for steering and the buttons for accelerate, brake etc. once i mastered the pressure sensitive buttons i can control my throttle and brake better than with the right stick.

I've been told that the buttons actually have 256 degrees of pressure sensitivity. However, for me, the range of motion is entirely too small to make any use out of that, so I just switched to the analog sticks after about 3 laps using the buttons.

That was part of the hype about the PS2 prior to its release. Pressure sensitivity on all buttons. On the back of PS2 games that make use of this feature there's a little box that says 'pressure sensitive'. Way to go!

Thats why they call it the Real Driving simulator. ;)

And the first PS was All half or nun. I could press the buttons so it would read as half. It was as light as i could possibly press but... it worked. i could balance the cars at like 5000 rpm

I've found it pretty marginal - basically, the pressure detected seems to range from 'off' to 'half on' to 'fully on'.

My fine motor control for my right hand is pretty good.
Probably the last 10 years of playing guitar.
I can pick any launch RPM with my DS2, using the buttons. Although playing GT2 is a little different now that I've gotten used to the pressure sensitive buttons.

Well, if you're using the DS2 and pressing the buttons with your feet, and still outrunning me...
Please don't ever go to using the thing with your hands!

Actually, the main reason I use the wheel is so I can grab my beer when I get on to the straights.

i used to use the sticks for stearing and the buttons for gas n brake but i realized that after about a year the buttons were wearing out so i use the sticks for gas and brake now too... i like it alot more and i think u get alot better control of the car.... are for figuring out tha tha buttons are pressure sensitive... i figured that out the day i got it.... about 2 years ago!!
