You are also going to have a much better feel for the car in real life and be able to do something about it. In the game, the car is too erratic. Just look at the first corner. If you brake a tad late, the car goes flying off the track with no steering at all. If you brake a tad early, you end up going through at a speed that a k-cup car could go through it at. I severely doubt that Mercedes would agree to allow it look like its car is completely uncontrollable at a moderate clip and can't corner or maintain any grip on the road surface.
I still think that the virtual drivers have it far easier. Motal fear for self, financial fear for motor - both non-existent on the PS3. You don't get pysically knackered. My feeling is that many players don't realise that the only levels of realistic grip, at least compared to road cars, are on the comfort tires. All the others are unrealistically grippy - it's easy to understand why game designers do this, even on sims - without all of the acceleration forces and physical motion real driving delivers, accelerating the game is a good way to increase the players involvement. But realistic? Nope... So the 'undrivable' comfort tires is as sim like as it gets.
Also - entering the first corner of the TGTT at 120mph - if you think that the real car will be more forgiving of braking too late then I'd say you'd be wrong. That corner is fearsome, and if you're trying to lose unwanted speed then there's no grip left for steering...
Thanks Aionh. Is there anyway I can load your lap as a ghost. I need a ghost that is within touching distance. EDDSKILL is outta sight for the last few turns.
