Hey has Go kents been promoted? It was boom who we were sending times to when I signed up, I'm not the best by far but I'm gonna have to get going with thoes races again, get some practice before GT4.

YEs, Boom retired at the one year mark in the weeklies. Life in general was filling up, and he thought it best to hand the reins over to a new person. GoKents was chosen by popular demand. So any new submissions go to him.

I've tried a wheel (two in fact) and I've come back to the DS2. By no means am I fast, or even near the level of competiton these guys are, but I enjoy it a considerable amount.

And as milefile says talk is cheap here at GTP when it comes to lap times.

I was considering throwing some money down on buying a wheel. I'll prolly get the Driving Force Pro, but I've seen pictures of it and it seems that it has to be cliped to something, I was wondering what exactly do you guys clip them to, or can you remove them?

wow.. looks like this thread has been a **** .. good to know that there r good drivers out there wit their DS2.. i know it takes practise......... but still worth a try, now im sticking to my DS2 controller and getting a good grip of this game

If only I'd been at the AutoRAI that day. I could've been Dutch GT3 Champion. :trouble:

Even I started off in Div 2, and I'm nowhere near as good as the best.

I just got one. It has adjustable clamps that can attatch to just about any table. The easiest and quickest thing to get started is just to go get a small WOODEN folding table (like a snack table or "TV Tray"),plop down behind it and start rolling:D You can also buy a lap attachment, but I have never seen one, and I would think your arms would be hitting your legs all the time at full lock:odd:

I'm fairly fast with the DS2. Way faster than with the wheel.
I ain't UB57, MrP, Sough, or Boombexus. But the kids at church can't beat me.
My DS2 is set up pretty differently than most folks.
I know Boombexus uses the d-pad to steer. And I believe he uses the right stick for brake/gas.
I know that a lot of people use the stick for brake/gas.

A few months back I started using the right stick for up and downshift, and the R1 and L1 for gas and brake. It's awkward at first, but when you get the hang of it, the extra travel of these buttons give me a bit better control.

Hello here at GTPlanet,

finally found my way into here as well, after having been to GT.de for about two years and to racing-line for two months now.

I use the DS2 with only the buttons and do think that I am not one of the slower drivers. I know for a fact that czsimo of GT.de and Hugo Boss from the Netherlands use the DS2 well better than I do. They both drive in the same league with Flinx, Arco, jmr (fastest drivers I know, but all from GT.de -hardly know about you guys here, just getting started here, you know... )

Probably fastest with DS2, but just *enjoy* using wheels. Had a Mad catz thing for ridge racer \ PS1 days, then logitech driving force for GT1\2\ started 3.. then it broke and went back to DS2 for most of GT3 and GTC.....

...but last night my driving force pro arrived....

I'm slower with it right now, probably will be for some time, but god it plays well, and it's really *enjoyable* as a simulation - find myself just enjoying driving around an empty complex string....

I'm new around here, so I apologise if this offends anyone, but videogames, and racing games, and thus the GT series, are about having *FUN*? Yes we may play our mates and beat them occasionally, and yes I'm looking forward to winning some races online with GT4, but is that all that is important?

I won't lose any sleep over the fact there are many people out there faster than me, as I'll be having just as much fun.

Welcome, Ian! Enjoy your stay with us here at GTPlanet. You're not going to offend anyone by insisting that the game is for fun, first. Most of us (if not all) definitely agree with that statement. We're only raising speed as a prime consideration because it is after all a racing game, and OLR competition is popular. But I've long since resigned myself to enjoying the game rather than dominating podiums across the e-community...

I'm a pro with the Dual Shock. I've used the analog sticks for gas/brake and Steering since the GT1 demo I had way back when. I've used it through all the GT games. Plus, it has made other games easier. Like, NFS Underground. It's totally easy from my experience with the Dual Shock on GT3.

This thread is riot.

First, I want to thank neon_duke for the redirect to the weekly. I always like seeing new racers... fresh meat for the grinder. :trouble: ;)

I also want to thank alta for the honorable mention about popular demand and all that. :blushes:

I use a dual shock 2.

I'm not the fastest, but anyone who has run in the weekly for the last 60 weeks knows that I'm no push over. (div 1 if I may say   )

On a side note, I've also gotta say that this thread was really a laugh. I went through and read every post, and I've gotta say, it's interesting to say the least. ;)

Lots of people in this thread were new recruits to the weekly, I think some even got times in... although I'm sure some of the people here got the rude awakening that (I think) neon duke anticipated.

I'm sure this was all a learning experience for the newbs and some fun for the vets... :D

Nice thread indeed.
Regardless of subject, the discussion was nice, so I'm happy with it.

Hopefully I will see as many of you as possible in the weekly... until that time...

Later,

thanks kents.. im suprised myself to find that a lot of people showing their interest :p ..... well, im on the list of newbies and its surely a great experience to see my first thread being a small hit  ... thank u all.. :D

hahaha this thread IS a riot.

poor, poor GTChamp2003.

i'm in no position to add injury to insult, so i'm not gonna.

welcome to the harsh, sad reality that is the WRS bro.

your fellow countrymen Made in Holland is up in the action this week at the WRS. looks like you got your work cut out for yourself.

good luck man.

in terms of racing.. the potential of cars can be reached w/ either a steering wheel or controller.. but i find drifting to be about 10x easier w/ a wheel.:D

I am sort of on a tight budget so for the time being,I am using the dual shock controller but hopefully in the near future I can obtain myself a steering wheel.I would say that gotten used to using the controller.

Having just returned from Dallas after competing in the Major League Gaming GT3 competition. I can say that I am not the fastest driver in the world (Max E. just keeps me in check), but I am a formidable opponent. I met UB57 there and I'm sure he will attest to this statement.

The one thing that I am MOST proud of, is that I compete with the old DIGITAL controller that came with my PSone. Max swears that is why I can't beat him, on a regular basis...

Jeez, where have I heard that before. Umm... Lets see....
Someone came in here saying he was faster than any of us and stated that he would post his time in the WRS... he never came back. He said he was looking for perfection.
IMO, the fastest guys that race GT3 can be found when the 9 boards challenge is going on. Now I wish I had used that plane ticket to Dutchland. I could be the GT3 champion.

:D Yeh, I know I'm the "Old Geezer" & as I've stated before I've owned 30+ Cars in real life & Not One of Them Steered with "Joysticks" or "D-Pads" !!! When I "Discovered" GT3 two years ago I was introduced to the Logitech "Blue" Wheel at the same time, so naturally that's what I bought. About a year ago I switched over to a "MOMO" & a week ago I bought the "New" Logitech wheel designed for GT4.

I attended the "MLG" competition two days ago in Dallas & saw the game played w/controllers other than "Wheels" for the first time ever. I use the word quite "Sparingly" but "Awesome" is the only description I can come up with for the Manual Dexterity Skills of "Max E." / "Hogster-iR" & "3rdgenracerX." Believe me the "Fingers were Flying."

I'm making NO Excuses but "MLG" had never had a "Wheel Driver" enter & had No Facility to mount my wheel. I resorted to an old "Lap Mount" I had built for the "MOMO" before I built my Cockpit which hadn't been used for about 6 months. I really only entered for the "Fun" of it as I'd never had an opportunity to "i-Link" before & had I NOT made a "Bone Head" :banghead: move trying to deny my final opponent the draft on Grand Valley's long straight I'd have had "MLG's" first ever podium finish with a wheel.

My two cents: Use whatever controller you're comfortable with & have "phun" w/GT3 & 4!!!...UB57 :D

Indeed, I wish I could have been there too. ;)

btw, gt3mich, that member was "herman", and since he showed up I have been constantly reminding the new members not to pull a herman on us.

That guy really never returned, but then again, he could be a racer in disguise.

I will find out though. ;)

Anyway, Im glad to see you guys had fun, and I'm glad to see UB57 got to head to dallas and have some fun. 👍
That's cool man, give you an idea of where you stand?
btw, I still to this day run that 539hp diablo. :D
(only now I run it on a 1000kg diet. :trouble: )

Anyway, catch you guys later. :D

Oh yeah, and just so you all know...

gt3champ might have come out confident and what not, but atleast he didn't pull a herman and you have gotta respect that. (or well, maybe atleast just a little. ;) )
