Dumb Question about Riding Gear

How do you select whether or not you want to wear race gear or street gear? Sorry if this has been answered, but I could not find a related thread. Thanks!

I assume that you have made it into the Riding Gear screen and have changed helmets, boots, etc. to your liking. As far as I know, you only need to have the one you want "active" selected when you exit the screen. I'm not sure if you can choose it from another screen or not, but not that I have seen.
