Duplicate Trophy cars?

I'm amazed and a bit annoyed why the game insists on giving me duplicate trophy cars. I currently have among my 70 or so cars 6 sets of the same car. Two of these sets are TRIPLES!!! What's more frustrating is that I can't sell these cars just delete them. This is so lazy of the developers. Yes they've put endless hours and effort into allowing me to photograph my car by the colloseum, (wow, could have done without that), yet there are flaws in the racing penalty system and I get these flaming doubles or treblers.
Has anyone else experienced this or am I just the lucky ass?

I cobbled together a primitive Excel spreadsheet to randomly choose cars for 20 days and examine the number of duplicates over a set of 100 virtual players.

Assuming the daily gift is randomly chosen from a list of 168 cars, and starting with 50 (ignoring other sources of cars such as gifts or purchases), the typical result is about 8 duplicated cars. (This number varied between 3 and 13.) While the method I chose is not rigorous, it's indicative.

Bottom line is that duplicates will happen, and in my opinion, throwing words such as "lazy" around is not called for. Insults can be counterproductive.

Duplication provides opportunities such as

Apply different tunes to each
Apply different liveries to each
Both of the above with livery maybe indicating tune
Tune cars into different categories
Use multiple cars in Scapes photos
.....

Giving you as duplicate car is absolute garbage programming when any noob can write
(my Fake made up programming language)

VarCar=1
Func GIVECAR
IF NOT EXISTS Car#(VarCar)
Give Car #1
GOTO DISPLAYCAR
ELSE VarCar=(VarCar+1)
GOTO GIVE CAR
ENDIF

very sloppy programming there..

So your solution is to gift cars in a fixed sequence for everyone!

Sloppy programming?

In no time flat, this sequence would be published on GTPlanet

The game has limited cars to give away (less then six months supply) what do you want it to do when you have them all, stop giving you cars?

Duplicates are fine, it makes getting one you really wanted a happy moment...

It's suppose to be random. The cars are literally FREE gift cars. Deleting them does not benefit you just like receiving them did not harm you. So what you get duplicates? Go buy the cars you want if you want them that bad. I don't get why people are so frustrated with a random gift sequence.

NOBODY is complaining about the randoms, just the duplicates.
That fake function I wrote was literally awarding them from 1 up. A random function is just as easy.
I cannot believe seriously one single person here IF given the choice would prefer to have the SAME car instead of different ones.
Is there ANYONE here who has actually PAID for the same car twice in a row?
A duplicate gift car is literally worthless, when the game allows you multiple tuning sheets and liveries.
I like carrot and stick, not random unknown repeatable prize and stick.
IF I carry out a certain task THEN I get a reward. Like in older GT games (sorry thats TABOO I know) IF you won a certain race series THEN you
got a special car, or a random car out of 2 or 3 high end ones. Not a random car worth between 43000 CR and 340000 CR.
(Not one of which excites me in the least by the way but thats another story)

I've never gotten a duplicate outside of the Daily Marathon, and if you feel the task of driving a measly 26 daily miles merits you a new reward everyday, then that's a little sad. And there ARE set prize cars for completion of the driving missions and the licencing exams. There are roughly 170 cars in the game, so by your logic everyone has every car after putting in 26 miles each day. You do see how that's a little boring right?

I have experienced the same and, to be honest, I like the ‘wheel of fortune’ random spin thing. As this member said...

I think the last point stands out for me, and with that, the livery editor too..

I just hope I get to drive half the cars in this game and if the cars I’ve been gifted aren’t to my liking, at least I have that experience of trying them and making the most of the opportunity to see what they are about.

Oh i've gotten plenty dupes.

If you consider the overall low car count it's a give, it's a mathematical constraint due to the lower car count number.

Maybe it would be better if they didn't gift cars at all...

If it meant a full offline single player to earn them in then hell yahh.

Wow your a bit sensitive I think. And my observations stand. I didn't pat £59 for a game, £400+ for a racing wheel and stand to takes pics of my cars with a mountain backdrop and paint lots of cars pretty colours. This is advertised as the best racing game out there, make it so first and then give us the add ons.

Red herring. And a touch of ad hominem.

I'd rather they didn't provide a gift car, I have so many duplicates that I just deleted them all.
As already mentioned there is a low car count compared to previous versions so why not just let the individual do the grind and earn the cash they need to buy the car they prefer?
I do find it frustrating but hey it's free no loss if I delete a duplicate.

As for losing photo mode, scapes photo's, don't really care to be honest but there are some players that just eat this up and are really good at it, I'll just buy the glossy magazine with the pretty finished pictures in it later lol.

I've got a few duplicates, triples and even 5 of the crappiest car in the game, the S-FR '15. The only reason they're not deleted is because I'm hoping they'll patch the game so you can sell duplicates at some point, I can't remember if you could sell gift cars in past GT's or not. I don't think its as random as people are led to believe though, every time I see 4 silhouettes with 3 of them looking good and 1 looking very average its always the average one that I win like it was predetermined, there could be some deep hidden algorithm in there lol.

Your brain must be like...huge...but I agree with this.

Jeez... You guys must be GREAT fun at birthday parties... Do you get angry with people who give you something you've already had? If so don't be such an ungrateful so-and-so. It's free, suck it up and move on. They don't have to give you a GIFT car every day, it's a GIFT.

Heh. It is not a programming issue. It is more like a gacha system. This is extremely normal for japanese games. For the rigged ones, it is intended that way. You just not familiar with it.

Western games which have this "gacha" are NFS payback (lootbox), call of duty IW, WWII, MWR Remastered, BO3 (supply drops).

Lol, I have so many of those crapboxes. Think I've only driven one of them once! Got gifted a LaFerrari last night though, so not all bad :)

Aren't we due some DLC yet?

The problem is only one...
PD gives away cars too easily...
On the very first day, only with "driving school", after a couple of hours I had handful of cars, including duplicate Mazda Eunos GT3.

Read a few posts only. To annoyed by OP to continue reading. Random is good. Duplicates are fine. Like @GBO Possum said, you can tune the duplicates to fit in different categories.
Don’t complain about what you get. This is how gaming works. If you don’t want duplicates then delete them from your garage and stop complaining.

Do you know the game Counter-Strike: GO? Do you think those chests you can buy will give you different items every time? No. Duplicates happen A LOT. Not that I know, I don’t play it(Played CS: Source back in the day). Do you think those gamers complain about something as silly as duplicates?

Okay 1, that's not how programming works, and 2 they are free cars. Stop complaining
