Duplicating cars with backup game data?

Yeah.... what exactly is that a solution to, when the goal of the game is to complete races and collect cars? I've finished 95% of the game as of now in a legitament manner... the only thing left to do is collect cars and do multiple 9 hour endurance races so i can unlock the 24 hour races that i'll never be able to do.

I feel like i've pretty much finished any and all reasonable competition the game was designed to deliver, and now if i want the Toyota GT ONE by buying it, rather than doing a 24 hour race, or racing the same 5 lap race for 8 hours straight to get it, i think i'll just copy a save file and send it to myself.

Thanks for trying to press that I have some sort of moral obligation to earn a plethra of digital automobiles by way of dedicating hundreds of hours of racing the SAME track, with the same car to obtain money in an imaginary moral fashon.

Thanks for trying though.

I'm quite inclined to agree with you too.

Fact is, time is a luxury for many people in say, the real world and it is tragic that many people condemn the idea that some people don't have the luxury of grinding for virtual cars on that basis that "it ruins the point of the game". People sometimes wonder why people would pay real money for virtual weapons and items from games such as WoW. Now I know why and it is more than reasonable.

That said, we're sorry we disappointed you, but if I could pay bills with credits I won on GT5, then hey...

And I just realised this is my first post.

I dont really see how this will stop trading. As there are cars i still need that you might have and ones i have you need. You can still trade as before.

eg :- i have a Ferrari F10 (still carnt use it in A or B spec after the patch but im sure other people will still want it)

However this does stop those ******** that over charged there trades because they have 1 car and want 5 in return for it.

I will still be happy to trade with people knowing that if i get ripped off or a car gets lost in the gifting problems of late. i can allways load my backup and its all good.

Let people play the game how they want instead of complaining about how others play.

The system was NOT designed to be used to manipulate finances or cars ownned, it was designed for us who are serious about the game and who enjoy working for our rides. PD knows it's a bitch to gring the races, they BUILT it that way, for that reason we NOW get a chance to back up our HARD WORK to prevent an uproar in the chance that we DO need a backup.

I hope they don't "FIX" this back though, cause I like the ability to backup my data, seems people are SOOOO eager to get stuff for nothing in life and YIP in games too.

This is day 1 and already we have people exploiting this, wonder how long it will take for people to find a way to completely do away with racing and just sit there earning stuff ALL DAY LONG!

But hey me ranting about it won't change a dam thing, so go ahead, play the game as YOU feel you want to, after all to some of us it is JUST A GAME. It's no reflection on who you are at all.

:dunce:

Then why has it never happened to me? It's funny because it's so obviously wrong.

And to all those saying trading is dead, I'm still looking for that Viper, among other cars.

I don't know. In GT3, they only differed visually. I'd assume the same in GT5.

What I did was:

1.Create new PS3 and PSN account
2. I bought two Karts
3. Exited Kart save, and then saved the file to USB drive
4. Loaded Kart save on PS3, then traded 1 Kart with someone.
5. I checked to see if they got the Kart, they did.
6. Deleted Kart save on PS3.
7. Copied USB back up onto the PS3 in the same account where it came from
8. Loaded game like normal
9. I still had two Karts.

I cant wait to waste some time and effort to get two karts.

I really do not see how it is highly detrimental.

Its pretty much necessary to be able to back up your saves in GT due to the huge amount of time that the game can soak up. Also the exploit only affects you if you let it, so it should not be a problem. Plus I do not think its an option to remove the gifting feature (sending gifts is an awesome feature).

There is no fix for this except for deleting the feature (as previously stated) so I guess we should learn to live with it. Sometimes it is impossible for certain exploits to be fixed, but as long as your personal enjoyment is SEVERELY and DIRECTLY detrimental, in my opinion it should be somewhat overlooked.

As someone who lost everything at lvl 21 due to a crash after a b-spec event, having people dupe cars is totally worth the ability to back up my save.

I think the only people really pissed off about this with a "legitimate" reason are the ones that hoped to make $$ off wasting their time grinding race after race after race instead of working at a real job and then selling the virtual cars they buy with the credits they "earned" to people that actually work for a living, enjoy the game, but don't have time to waste "grinding" on a game. Now these pixels are worthless as far as $$ is concerned and I think thats how it should be for games.

Honestly, I don't see how this impacts anything other then the people that will now not be able to make $$ off dumbasses that pay $$ for pixels. O

Indy way of getting money is far from racing too. Unless you use the car that can barely win there. Personally I hate cheating, but the game just eating life. I want to actualy race with my friends in online battles and not just go around indy driving with one hand to make it less dull. If you could sell price cars multiple times like in GT4 or just get more money the problem would have been solved.

I think the best soultion was that the save was bound to the PSN ID, and the saves where stored on PD servers, so if i log in on my account on my friends PS3 i would have the same access to my "game" as i would on my own PS3.

Thats my 2 "kronor"...

Reasons like this that the backup wasnt included in the first place

This was most likely one of the reasons.

Still, ever since I experienced a memory card malfunction on the PS1, I have a desire to keep my saves as save as possible. If this is the only drawback of this system, so be it.
The death of trading and the start of car copying has and will have no influence whatsoever on my game... The earlier lack of possibilities to back up could have had an influence on my game though.

I never understood people who cheated in games.

I thought one was to supposed to buy a game because they enjoy playing it. For me stuff like using cheat codes, duplicating items, or buying ingame content for real life money, just takes away all of the enjoyment.

I dont really care what others do though. Just dont get the point i gues.

Stop making sense damn you! This is supposed to be about how the whole game is ruined now!!!

;)

I have never seen, and I still do NOT see, the problem with OTHER people getting easy power-ups or cash in a video game.

Unless we're talking World Of Warcraft here, or something similar, where that rare item bought with gold farmed in some third-world computer sweatshop or that Level 40 fighter bought for ridiculous amounts of money from another player can give a significant advantage in PvP, the fact that another guy gets his unicorn two weeks before me doesn't bother me one bit.

I buy a video game to enjoy it. Am I miffed that my brother/cousin/friend/neighbor used a cheat code to get infinite money/infinite health/infinite sun (PvZ there, not PvP) and blasted through a game in a few hours instead of the weeks it took me to do the same? Maybe. Did it lessen the sense of accomplishment I got when I finished my 4 hour enduro/Half-Life2/Zombie Survival Mode? No. Did I enjoy them any less? No. Did I get bored with those games as quickly as those other people? Definitely not.

If other people don't want to put up with the grind, that's perfectly fine. Me? When I buy a game, I want it to keep me entertained for as long as possible. Which means I will grind until I get sick of it, then possibly B-Spec. Will I duplicate cars? Maybe. Maybe not. I did it in GT4 in order to finish my "Road and Trek" articles quickly. I don't see what's wrong with doing it again in order to perform track testing, set-up testing and hot-lapping. Whether I do it or not, to finish the game 100%, I will still have to drive all the races. And so will they.

That is all.

I was dead against the Birthday Exploit, and this Exploit is even worse.

However, there is a thread called "Christmas Present" where you put what Car you would like, and someone will duplicate one for you.

I've agreed to duplicate a car for someone, as its not a prize car, but I did warn them that it would ruin their gaming experience, and they in return will gift me the car I wanted.

It still feels wrong though! I've worked so hard to get my A and B spec up and I'm "rewarded" with crappy cars, so I thought it was only fair that someone shared in my glory, and besides its Christmas!! :)

Epic statement, I don't care for WOW but that made me laugh! You should enter that Competition to win a ZR1 RM, you'd definitely win! :)

how about this for those who want to try it,

Save your current game to usb stick
sell all the cars in your garage, buy the big bad car you want (if you have enough money)
gift that to your "alias" account.
reload your backed up garage, resend the big bad car to your original account from your "alias" account.

could be an easy way to raise funds if you dont want others to know how you could afford such a nice car!

Even the trading of Stealth codes is ruined by this, there's no sacrifice when the person sending numerous cars can just restore.

That's the problem. I have to work from monday to friday. My only two free days a week are saturday and sunday. I wasted spend my last weekend by clicking through licence tests to spawn in FGT in the used cars dealership. Not funny at all. The weekends before that I spend endless hours to reach level 30 in A-Spec by driving boring Indy races. Even less exciting. Now let's say this took me 40 hours. If I work 40 hours ang receive 10 $/€ an hour, I have 400 $/€ to spend on ebay for GT5 cars or whatever. I wouldn't have missed anything important. I lost three weekends for beeing a honest player.

Well despite the temptation I am proud to say that both of my C6 ZR1 RM Corvettes were purchased and paid for with in game credits. (Starting my own Team Corvette) soon as I have the cash I will add a third :)

You can enter races where you have more then 1 B-Spec racer going correct?!?

That was my understanding...

can some1 confirm this works?

I do not know how on earth you could seriously sell enough cars to afford something nice

I do not think it would be worth the effort, I just got my Zonda from racing and Oh what a feeling to get that wonderful car.

The resale values are a joke, do you really have enough cars to make enough to get something worth it?

Funny, that is how it worked in Gran Turismo 3.

I sympathize. My only "me" day is actually Sunday.

That said, I will play "honestly" as long as I have the patience to do so, then I will "cheat" (whether it be through spamming ovals, B-Speccing or duplicating cars) when I need money and I feel like buying something just to try it out.

The only goal in any GT (inasmuch as there actually is a "goal" ) is to win every single race. If the game designers had desired that we grind away like many racecar drivers and team managers do in real life simply to earn enough jack to fix the car and enter the next race, they wouldn't give us tremendous payolas for each win.

And you don't have to spend 400 Euros for an X1. You could simply visit the X1 Borrowing thread and get one for free. ;)
