Does anyone have any experience with this?

My ISP will not give me a static IP address but there seem to be quite a few free Dynamic DNS services out there.

I've been fiddling with it a bit but i'm not entirely sure what i'm doing!

Has anyone set this up before?

*edit*
Got a bit further by using the DNS updater software rather than configuring Dynamic DNS on the router. Could still do with some tips though!

Yes, what DDNS service are you using, and what type of router do you have? I have been with DynDNS for some time now without trouble. Once my account was set up, I created a hostname associated with my IP address, then updated my router's (D-Link DGL4100) DDNS administration page with the appropriate details.

I have also signed up to DynDNS but instead of configuring the router, I have put the update manager software on the server. This detects any change in the servers ip and updates the DNS accordingly. Quite handy. :)

I'm having trouble testing it, but i'm pretty sure that's down to the router having trouble forwarding.
