from what i see i use the E-Brake more than the average drifter and maybe alot more. This is mostly because i dont like the idea of touching the brake during drifting or at any time really. With enough gas almost anything is possible. :)

First i like it for doing fishtail type slides on straits (who wants to go strait?) Getting the car sideways slows the car down, so on a long strait into a hairpin i like to fishtail 2-3 times to drop my speed just in time for the corner. To me it looks good linking longer drifts together like that.

For long corners i basically go in fast (race speed) pull the e-brake early and slide into my drift, once sideways (very sideways) i fully countersteer amd start easing the throttle on. With my settings gas controls the speed the rear wheels skid and steering input moves the front. Coming out im almost, if not full on the gas. My favorite corner for this is the first left on Apricot Hill.

With a few pulls on the e-brake ive spun the rear wheels all the way from the pit exit to the short strait, which i acellerate on to gain speed for the big "carousel" corner.

I dont if you guys use this kind of technique or if you even know what im talking about (its late and ive been up for 36 hours). I guess just tell me what you think, if youve done this, if you are trying it now...

e-brake drifts are good for those extra long corners, but this technique is often overly used try not to e-brake too much becauz you will become VERY dependent on it... that will be your downfall

i have to say, u most of the time have to brake to shift down, in order to drift around a corner because.......if u going full speed, and dont brake, and go around a corner, you'll either hit a wall really hard, or some cases spin out

e brake is good when u can't drift ( was it oversteer or undertsteer the proper term?)and when u connect it

I've found that using the ebrake messes with my rpm's too much to be a truly effective drifting tool. It's kinda like the last resort I use If I'm experiencing understeer or need more angle to properly exit the corner. But it's not often used....or at least shouldn't be.

e-brake breaks the rear wheels loose again when u start gaining traction in a drift which is y people use it to elongate a drift, ive never really been able to use it very sucessfully, usually its for a underpowered car that doesnt have the necessary HP to keep the wheels spining, stockers benfit the most from e-braking

good resposes guys

Well my main drift car, which i consider a deadly weapon, is the Nismo 400R. It handles beyond imagination. It is fully capable of power oversteer, so i dont NEED to e-brake. Also its just a very well rounded car, tuned to about 600HP and it can get around very fast without going sideways (and thats on sims). But of course it also does anything else it is asked to do. :)

I should mention that i use MT because of downshifting like darkazn said. With AT when i really pushed it, like power sliding 300m from 120-50mph to take a tight hairpin and the transmission gets stuck in 5th. You hit the wall and the car wont move, 5th gear flashes on the tranny. For me thats great because IRL i'd be crippled and the car would be scrap :)

Dont just do corners, push the car to its limits and see whats possible.

there is never a too much when it comes to horsepower, most D1 cars in real life push around 400+, and since this is a game...its really up to the peron who drives it, my Chaser can push 805 when i have it on stage 4 turbo, usually i jsut lower it to stage 2 for drift purposes although stage 4 is pretty fun too. As long as its controllable its fine i would say

I swear I'll break ANYONE who comes "drifting" by my house and initiates it with an e-brake, you got it?

(vinkento is very prejudice when it comes to using the e-brake, he believes it only for use in situations for which it's name implies)

ill come over and bring a sword with me just incase

lol...I drift with my 824hp Skyline R33.......it works perfectly fine for me.....I just need to learn when to tap on the gas, and when to slam on the gas on a corner or hairpin

Personally, I only use the emergency brake in emergencies (errors).

Basically speaking, when I see someone's rear tires lock up, I immediately think, "you suck".

Providing the car isn't FWD..

There have been several discussions on e-braking and my opinion hasn't changed.

No offense.

Seeing brake lights flash makes me think wimp. just like in RL ;) maybe its just my mind set, when i start driving my foot was always near the brake. Then i got better at driving...

1) nothing moves the back faster
2) rally drivers use the e-brake
3) losing rear traction is the whole point
4) thats the reason there is an e-brake

which reminds me i REALLY wish there was a clutch in GT, now that would kick ass.

FF drift, well it's more like FF slide. But it is kinda cool. Nothing like drifting a FR though.
