E3 2010 Discussion Thread

pssh, the only reason why Xbox got the GTA4 Episodes before PS3 is because Microsoft paid them what was probably an embarrassing amount of money. And yet, Rockstar STILL bad mouthed the system. *shrug* Oh well. All I'm getting at is, that, because of some of the things Rockstar has said, and because except for GTA IV, Xbox has always had to wait to get their GTA fix, I can't be sure what systems GTA V will be on. I would ASSUME it'd be on PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, but my assumptions could be wrong. And just because a lot of people are jumping ship on the third party exclusives, doesn't mean Rockstar will conform. It IS Rockstar, after all.

About the shift thing in Driver: I HOPE that we'll have this shifting thin in addition to getting out of the car and hi-jacking cars. 'Cause, the only place where that'd be any good is when you're on a mission or you're just about to plunge into the bay.

Nintendo har gettin raped at their own game idea.

Move and Kinect seems lightyears better. I personally think Move is the way to go, the possibilites are endless. Wii´s are just locked motions while the other two are "free" in their motions.

And are more boring, too. Also, it isn't their idea so to speak...they're just capitalizing on it.

And...apparently, you can interfere with the Wii with your wireless device. You'd think they'd fix that in development. Oh well.

You do know how sensitive a wireless device is, right? Whether it be 2.4, or 5.2GHz...frequencies can be interfered with.

I have to say that after Microsoft's conference, I thought it couldn't get worse. I was wrong. So far not a single game I would consider buying for the Wii, the system that I haven't turned on in 8 months I think. When Reggie said that Wii owners play more than anyone else, I laughed.
This trend however is worrying me as to what the sony conference will be. If it's just one huge MOVE showcase with sprinkles of GT5 and other game using move, then I won't be happy.

A new Golden Eye, without Pierce is just wrong man.
Loved Golden Eye on N64 but it looks like they are gonna detroy this game too.

Why would they ask Pierce Brosnan to do voice-over when he isn't even Bond anymore?

And, yes, Move and Kinect are more boring. Have you seen the presentations for Kinect thus far? At least Nintendo has some semblance of what the heck they're bringing to the table - I can't imagine Move wowing me either.

Then again, I could care less about either of the two, so I'm a bit biased.

Because Pierce played bond in the movie and not craig, that´s why.

You don´t seemt to understand just how Move works compared to Wii.
I suggest you read abit or watch the short intro on the Move, truly amazing stuff that has possibilites outside of the gaming-world.

Click on this and judge for yourself m8.

And whats up with the Font and thickness? people don´t recognise you otherwise? :D <---!

Hey, what do you know. ANOTHER DS console.

And it has a widescreen and technically only has one screen 'cause the other is the touch pad...just don't go crosseyed switching between the two.

Why not call it by a different name or make a new console? I mean, the introduction of a NEW DS system every year is getting a little old. Like. "Guys, enough DS's already. We don't need 8000 different DS's.

And it looks like there's enough things NEW about it to warrant a completely new console instead of ANOTHER DS console *groan*

You seem to think MOVE will be light years ahead of everything else. Kinect looked like a fad that no one will buy, move, while maybe more accurate, doesn't appeal to many. The wii has a huge install base who are looking forward to the kiddie games that they will be getting. The wii revolves around motion control while the other 2 are just add-ons.
Wow, a tech demo.

You see that?

Nintendo owns the handheld market, end of story.

Are you new to the handheld scene? In 1996 Nintendo made the original Gameboy thinner, and lessened the battery count requirement by one - know what else changed other then that? Nothing.

Wanna know how many units it's sold? Millions.

Hey, guess what? The new DS is in 3D.....Guess what? The new DS is in 3D! Guess what....the new DS is in 3D.....Guess What....this Nintendo conference wasn't very exciting.

Welcome to 1989.

Anyway Great showing for Nintendo, but is it even possible to make up for years of lame shows. Still dont care for them but they had a good. And the new Zelda Just makes Demon's Souls even more appealing.

So I'm going to guess Sony isnt going to tank as hard as MS and have the 2nd best show.

Yeah, if you want a good Zelda/Link game, buy a PS2 and get Okami.

And I realized upon seeing the new Zelda...that..I don't want a motion controlled Zelda.

You don´t think games like they have on wii will be on PS3 and the Kinect in the near future?

The way i see it is that Move is the Kinect and the Wii together - although way way superior. You will see what i mean at the Sony briefing 12.00 PDT

99% of the people I know who own a PS3 or 360, WON'T be getting the Move or Kinect. It's great that they're doing it. and they'll be cheaper than buying a Wii and the Wii Fit thingy. but for hardcore gamers. Motion control isn't really appealing...neither is 3D

So far I am rather unimpressed with the E3 presentations. I'm not a Halo, Gears, or COD fan, so the Microsoft presentation didn't do much for me. I like what I am seeing with MGS: Rising, but I will get that on my PS3 for consistency's sake. Nintendo might have impressed me with their Zelda game, but it kind of got gimped by the interference issue. I'm also curious how Goldeneye will be.

If Sony comes out with a bunch of party games for Move I will be severely disappointed. With GT5 getting its own thing tomorrow I am wondering if Sony is giving them proper time during today's presentation. It makes me fear a large Move demo, similar to what Microsoft did with Kinect.

i´m sure it will change your mind if were talking first person combat, like i said you will se what i mean.

GT5 is scheduled for Thursday 12.00 DPT

Expect a E3 trailer, nothing more.

I'm speaking for myself here, but no, it won't. If I want greater control when playing a FPS...I'll use a keyboard and mouse...the way it was intended.

Again, like I said before I could care less about either of the two, I appreciate what they're gunning for but they do nothing for me.

Dude, stop double posting.

Mouse and keyboard are good but only for shooting.
When using a sword and shield, the Move is superior because of it´s totally free movement you just have to se how it works compared to a wii and kinect.

Sorry forgot.

This. If they want to add games that use new controls try getting developers to allow a keyboard and mouse. We could get better FPS experiences and even much better strategy games. I could see a proper Sim City or Tycoon game on a console if they did this.

Although the acting couldnt have got any worse in the Microsoft press conference I was actually impressed with what they have managed to do with Kinect and the idea of no controller whatsoever has grown on me.

That Harmonix dance game looked pretty sweet and also using just your hands to drive in Forza was a nice feature. Talking to your Xbox although not groundbreaking was also nice and the use of the metro UI (which I love) on the Zune integration was amazing.

All this coupled with the new slimmer xbox and I have to say I'm starting to get sold on getting my first 360. Sony will have to really impress with Move to explain why I need something in my hand and maybe both hands! I dont think Sony is able to top the sheer amount of money MS is thowing at everything including developers to secure exclusive content.

Robin.
