"The first images of the 2007 Ford Falcon have leaked online ahead of the car's official launch. The rear-wheel-drive Falcon is, of course, only available in Australia. The new models — XT, Futura, Fairmont, and Ghia — feature a revised exterior and interior. So far, there has been no word on improved engines. As previously reported, an all-new 2009 Falcon will arrive in two years — also forming the basis for a new rear-wheel-drive sedan for the U.S. market. '07 Falcon Gallery after the jump…"

I don't know what to think about this one.

Same old same old, most people couldn't tell the difference with the new one.

As for Ghia, Ford Australia throws the Ghia name on pretty much anything when the car has a few extras.

The chrome needs to go IMO maybe some black plastic would make that look more aggressive.

Same opinion as VIPER, same old, same old. But I actually dig the conservatively handsome looks of the old car, so this one's okay by me.

It looks more like a facelift than anything else.

I think I liked the previous one better. Regardless, Commodore FTW! ;)

I concour... The Commodore looks much better, if anything "new." Not to say the Falcon looks bad, but you do have to take it for what it is, a restyle of a pretty good product.

BTW: I like that XR interior, thats hot with the cloth. If they could put an interior like that in a Fusion with a 230 BHP Turbocharged engine, they would sell like hotcakes!

Where is the exterior photo's for the XR? The interior isn't much different, I would like to see if they changed the exterior much.

LLN only had pictures of the Ghia and the other "standard" models. The only one missing was this one:

More interesting in my opinion, Ford Australia finally released the Ford Territory Turbo. A car which was rumoured ever since the Territory came on the market.

It's funny the TV adverts for it show the Territory Turbo eating up other cars, something I expect to hear from Doug with the B9 Tribeca.

C/D talked about the Territory Turbo in their "review" of the different Aussie Fords. They complained about what felt like a lack of power with the regular Territory, so it sounds like a good idea. It is just the turbocharged I6 from the XR6, no?

Yep its the same 240kw (321hp) I6 Turbo from the XR6.

Well, this one isn't comming to the US, or atleast that has been my understanding of the RWD program at Ford. We Americans would be getting the "all-new" Ford Falcon here in the US as a 2009 or 2010 model, if not just the RWD platform for an all-new RWD sedan, presumeably as a replacement for the Fivehundred or Crown Victoria.

Ford isn't as "loosy goosey" with their news when it comes to new platforms like GM or DCX, which I find quite strange. When GM throws platform "scraps" to the public, it is often well-planned, often done to maintain interest in a particular model or a particular brand. They've been doing so with the Camaro, the GTO, the Impala, and I presume very soon with the Grand Prix and Invicta/Statesman as well. Chrysler did it with the Challenger, and will do the same with the rest of the next-gen LY cars as well.

Ford? Well, it seems they can't be bothered. Car and Driver was quick to point out the answer to their troubles come from Australia, but have they listened? Nope, because Billy Ford up in the head office knows the answer...

Crossovers and hybrids.

Maybe Ford will realise one day that we want the European Focus, the Mondeo, the Falcon, etc. Instead of rebadging Mazdas and Volvos they can get back to building Fords, because as of right now, there are only two left... The Mustang and the F-150.

That looks very familiar. Is that the australian version of the Ford Freestyle we get in NA? Except the australian version pwns.

No this is a Australian only model built in Australia off the Falcon platform.

The BFII looks pretty cool. The XR-ish headlights on the Ghia get a thumbs up from me. The chrome strips do not :p

You can hardly call that a new falcon. The rear end is exactly the same. The headlights look like they where transfered from the territory too. Not that i dont like it, the existing falcon does its job well... But the new commodore looks trick, and if thats the best ford can come up with...

At the moment ford have a better car ( according to comparo's australian WHEELS and MOTOR magazines) but that doesnt mean that they can keep the same thing for another few years while Holden's about to unleash the 'billion dollar baby' its been working on for quite some time.

It would probably be a smarter idea to supplant the Crown Vic with the next Falcon, rather than replace it. Ford can't afford to piss away all of the sales the Crown Vic makes.

Added to that, it costs Ford next-to-nothing to build the Crown Vic, given that they have baisically been building the same car for more than 20 years.

hell...that LOOKS like a crown Vic!...or did OZ ford swipe the Commodore's design sheet? that'd be a hot seller for the over 60's up here...probably end up with the Lincoln label on it...i can just see that badged as a "Continental".

is american Ford's blandness starting to seep into oz?

c'mon...as far as I'm concerned, Falcon should be on par with America's mustang. cool sporty...not a lincoln lookalike :P

btw...i still have the title to a '80 faramount Futura coupe...AND almost ended up with a Grenada Ghia :P

Eww no thanks, I'm not sure how full retro mobiles would do down here, I know I would prefer Holden and Ford Australia to move forward and not copy the past, (except for names of course)

The Falcon is primarily a family 4 door car here, not some 'cool sporty' coupe like the Mustang. It would be nice if they supplemented the Falcon range with a two door like back in the 60's and 70's, but thats not what the primarily Falcon is about.

For anyone thinking that the Falcon et al are an answer to Ford's problems, let me just remind them that the LS platform underneath the new Mustang is produced in high volume, and did originally come from a four-door.

It would cost Ford a lot less to develop that platform into a new (and cheap) fourd-door Ford than to spend the millions they'd need to re-engineer the old Australian Falcon ladder-frame platform for left-hand drive and US-market safety regulations.

That's if Ford actually gets around to producing mass-market rear drive platforms like DCX does. But with the current fuel "crisis", I doubt Ford will go in that direction.

Viper: i said on PAr with, and didn't mean "identical to". this is YOUR hot ford we're talking about. they're just in the same class. besides, this is the first time i've seen ford's Bland-O-Rama seep down THERE since I've been looking at non american market vehicles...just...dammit, it looks like a friggin lincoln

Niky: ah, somebody's got the point of the 'we can't import this to the US" gripe. because EVERYTHING has to be totally re-engineered for america's specs. and I think america's specs are the reaspn we don't have 1 liter scroogemobiles here. besides...no american fits very well in a mini or micro...not enough elbow room.
