ive been reading through the forum that a few people are annoyed that the seasonal events went from hard/challenging to easy/walk in the park.

Personally i think they should reset the power restrictions but unlock the tyres you can use so you could use soft slicks etc etc.

Anyone else agree or dissagree?? its just i would rather them be challenging, especially with the amount of money available.

I'd rather see them go back to the formula they used in the first 2 sets. I thought it was a great formula, in fact I wish they had implemented some of the same types of restrictions for some of the standard A-Spec races.

the current problem is they are trying to do two things with the seasonal races:

1. Give more casual players a quick buck and exp.
2. Give some special event level challenges for the vets.

Right now both priority contradicts each other, So I think they should have two set of events, one without limit (or looser limit) but pay a little less, and one really challenging one.

Or create different payouts for people running within the spec or over the spec.

that sounds good. if all the limits are met then you get a full payout but if any arent then you get deducted winnings etc

I don't see what the big complication is.

Its simple, 3 tier level the races like the license tests.

The less mods, the more credits and XP for each race.

You want more, move up to the next difficulty level.

Everybody's happy. Well thats probably a little too optimistic.

Have limitations, make it hard with a capitol HAR. For everyone complaining that 'not every one is obsessive' well there are bronze and silver trophies for people not good enough to get gold in something that is a genuine challenge.

I don't have any problem with that, although depending on the difficulty it may take more time to do them.
Some weeks due to schedules and commitments you may not have as much time go for the gold.
They may need to leave them up longer, to accomadate this.

As long as skid recovery force is available there's always a way for everyone to grab an easy gold. They should leave them with similar difficulty to the first two in my opinion

The first two sets were ideal, a reasonable challenge, which could be made easier by using the srf option. The second one was well done as well, with the first week being restricted and the second week becoming unrestricted.

I know you have the option of restricting yourself, but without racing 4 or 5 times to see how competitive your car would be against the others, it would likely end up being overpowered.

Don't like the new unrestricted format, makes them way easy.

Because I fully tuned the car, I was about to lap people in the Prius challenge even.

The rest of them I was in 1st by the 2nd lap. It was much more fun before where I'd be just slipping into 1st on the final turn on the last lap.

You know one thing noone has mentioned is the time it takes to develop these races. Remember that we arnt paying anything after we buy the game, so the quality of R&D will be much lower for free updates. Look for much imporved (fun, restriced, hard) content included in DLC's that cost something.

I too am in favor of teired levels of difficulty for cash and exp, BUT then they would be developing 3 races for every 1 they are doing now... very costly in terms of labor.

Dude, I doubt it takes any time at all. The cars and tracks are already part of the game. Creating some restrictions (they don't even do that anymore) can't take that much time at all. Then again we are talking about a game that was in development for far too long, so maybe it does take them two weeks to set these up. :p

That is not a good suggestion, have you any idea of the huge advantage Racing Softs give you ?

Agreed, probably just a few lines of HTML code, in fact PD probably have a tool to create them in very short time.

If they are always bringing new ones out it's no big deal if you don't complete some. I only had time to do the GTR event on the first lot

We paid the initial purchase price expecting a certain quality that they are delivering through updates. Also through supporting the game through it's life span they reduce second hand sales, which increase new sales, and finally they are maintaining a loyal fan base who will continue to purchase the series. Remember also that they are now working on GT6, so a lot of the updates to GT5 are likely diluted features of 6 they are testing the waters with.

Probably a few hours work per race to think up what car, track, competition to include and then fine tune the restrictions so that it's a real challenge but still possible. Time they've just saved ditching the restrictions.

I like the new layout for a couple of reasons.

First, I have the car already, but its had an oil change making it above the restricted hp, I don't have to go out and buy the car again just to do the challenge. (ie. Nascar event)

Second, if you restrict yourself, its still just as hard to accomplish as it was before. I actually completed all of #2 and #3 in "stock" rides, only performing an oil change. Not everyone that bought the game is "hardcore" though and this gives those people a fighting chance to complete the challenge.

Like I said earlier there are bronze and silver trophies for those people. Technically doing the 5 laps or whatever is completing it but now every one gets a positive affirmation pat on the head well done here's a gold star like we're in a special needs class :)

Point 1 is not an issue with having restrictions, it's a problem with the restricutions chosen. It would have been nice if they at least chose restrictions that allowed for an oil change on the cars (then beef up the competition a bit or start them with more of a lead to keep the challenge there).

Point 2 is simply not true... as I have said over and over limiting yourself is not the same as being given a limit.

First off, limiting yourself means you make the race fit your skill level, being givien a restriction means you have to improve until your skill meets the challenge.

Secondly limiting yourself is a trial and error grind fest with a good chance of trying the impossible for a long time... ie if you are 3 seconds of the lead after 2 dozen tries, is your car just not good enough to ever win or are you just not skiled enough to win? You can never know... if you upgrade and it was doable, you have just made it less challenging, if you dont upgrade and it's impossible you have just set a future of infinite frustration for yourself.

The events are very easy. I walked all over the Ford GT challenge, if you want to even call it a challenge.

I would very much like them to go back to the original formula (challenging).

They shouldn't change payout. They should just have a restrictions on or off switch

Finishing second or third, is still completing. :)

yes but you get a bigger advantage running a few hundred HP above the other cars, maybe racing hards so they take longer to warm up but its mainly the grip that got on my nerves or rather the lack of it, getting the car going and catching cars was the fun bit.
id much rather be power restricted with a few tyre options that have everything open so you win after 2 laps

They could at least put some restrictions in. Maybe not as tough as it was but something at least. As it stands these are incredibly easy. I worked hard to gold those first 2 and now any douche can do it.

Shame really, as it was one of the few truly challenging aspects of the offline game.

how about upgrading the cars to be comparable to your tuning? not sure if its doable, but if you slap on a load of mods and then go race, the other cars should get the same mods you do.

I like the easier, just because I don't have the time to master a game like I did with GT 2 and 3. I have 3 kids now, so when I race, I don't want to spend the small amount of free time I have learning all the time.

Easiest thing is to have tiered difficulty with higher and lower rewards.

Love you guys and this forum, but I am not as hardcore as some of you, some of us out there are just old guys who can't stop playing games.

I hav no complaints with the difficulty. Some of them challenge me a
little bit more then others which is nice.

The RX-7, TTS et al challenges were simple enough with an oil change, chip and perhaps exhaust. Prizes should be based on how your motor fairs against the competition, rather than just placing first nets you X amount.

Anyone know if anything is given for the top drift and time trial events? (Not that I'm likely to get there, although did manage the top 3000 for the Tsukuba drift one!)

PD can put the restrictions in place for the first week of the event and then remove the restrictions on the second week. People who wants a challenge can run the race 1st. People who don't, can wait a week.

I think they did this. I believe(not 100% sure) that the mini cooper challenge was restricted before Seasonal events number 3 came out but when I tried it again this week there were no restrictions. Same for all the other events. Am I correct?

Yes, you are correct. The second batch of events did have restrictions until the 3rd batch came out.

But I like not having any restrictions. Yes, it can make the challenges very easy but it helps you get farther in the game. I will admit that I did make my cars overpowered and put racing tires on them to beat the challenges. I won all the races I did and got a ton of XP and credits. If I had not done this, I would have never been able to afford the FGT and I would probably still be stuck at level 21. As it stands right now, I am at level 25 and own an FGT. So these events have saved me A TON of grinding and has allowed me to put off training my Bobs on B-Spec a little longer. I just hope the PD doesn't put restrictions on the new events coming online tonight.
