Easy or Hard

I don't see what the big complication is.

Its simple, 3 tier level the races like the license tests.

The less mods, the more credits and XP for each race.

You want more, move up to the next difficulty level.

Everybody's happy. Well thats probably a little too optimistic.

This is the best way to do it. Kinda like the way the a-spec points worked in GT4. The less advantage the more the points.

But don't you think making these too easy also makes A-Spec even easier than it already is? At least with A-Spec the challenge was to make enough money to get the car you need to enter the race (the races themselves aren't particularly challenging I think most will agree). Now with the seasonal events being so easy it's removed the only challenging aspect of A-Spec as everyone now can get millions for very little effort.

I miss the days when games were hard.

They shouldn't change payout. They should just have a restrictions on or off switch

I think that could be one possibility...I enjoyed the challenge of the restrictions.

Now considering how most games have difficulty settings, a more advanced player wouldn't put a game on the beginner setting then complain at how simple it was to beat on easy mode. That is just silly. In actuality, wouldn't it make sense that when they removed the restrictions they didn't make the race itself any easier or less of a challenge, they merely created the option to allow you to make the race as difficult or easy as you choose. If you enjoy restrictions the game is in no way stopping you from keeping your car near the same specifications as the AI cars. To modify your car to the point where it is far superior to the AI cars, is no different than putting a game on "Easy" mode, and for a less skilled player that is understandable and is not hurting me or anyone else. Any skilled or experienced player who is complaining about how they upgraded their car to the max and is now angry at how easy it was to win that race, should exercise a bit of common sense and realize they chose to make that race easy. Choosing to do something like that, knowing full well the outcome, is like choosing to stab yourself in the eye with a rusty pair of scissors, then become angry at how incredibly badly it hurts to poke your own eye out. :ouch:

For anyone who enjoyed the restrictions, as I know I did, should check out a wonderful thread on this forum titled "Bonus Race 4 competitive times" It is perfect for those who miss the restrictions. Here is the link to that thread:

Don't like the new unrestricted format, makes them way easy.

Because I fully tuned the car, I was about to lap people in the Prius challenge even.

The rest of them I was in 1st by the 2nd lap. It was much more fun before where I'd be just slipping into 1st on the final turn on the last lap.

THIS (although exaggerated in this example - sorry) is the problem, not PD...
I admit to struggling with events #1 and especially #2 when restricted, and accepted I would not get gold without putting in the time to hone my skills with that car at that track. I don't need gold to validate anything either though, so getting all golds meant less to me than the racing itself and the rewards.

I'm not at level 30 yet but can't wait to try my hand at the Vettel challenge... with a DS3. The seasonal events help me get to the required level, but will still have the ULTIMATE challenge when I get to the Vettel Challenge, and will have no way of simpifying it either. I find it unfair that I have had to level up for so long just to even attempt it! Especially now kids online are being given X2010's left right and centre without going through this route...

I resent this, I'm a "grown up" and was given (well traded) the X2010 as well. :)

Sorry if it sounded in a bad light (poor use of my English GCSE's to blame...), what I'm trying to say is that I would like to attempt to win mine. Everyone plays the game their own way and I think if I had less free time to level up then I would just ask to trade for my X2010 as well. Still my wallpaper at work to remind me of the goal, but still not been behind the wheel yet... These events are a great way of getting me to that level though, even if I'm missing a hardcore challenge now for what I believe is the ultimate challenge of this game, especially with a DS3

IMO the events are just for advertisement of some rare, not used cars. Yep. For example the iMiev challenge. If that challenge was hard ... well ... I was bored by that car so much that even if I don't get "the gold" I would be thinking "Why bother more?". In contrast the Fiat 500 challenge was great and difficult. I found the car very fun to drive. Just a matter of preference I presume but according to me - these challenges are for pure advertisement. More challenge - the more the car will be in your mind with it's pros and cons + personal choice of course! 👍

I like the way it's set up. It's like the rest of the game. If you want a challenge out of it you need to limit yourself on the upgrades you perform. The entire game can be a walk in the park if you max out every car you enter. With these challenges I like take a run at it in a stock car then make one or two upgrades at a time until I can just barely win on the last lap. I get a kick out of seeing how each small upgrade improves my lap time.

Some races are easier than others as some I can win in a stock car (eg. MIEV) and others I need to add several power and handling upgrades (eg. RX-7 race).

Both Forza and GT5 suffer from this open ended type of racing. It requires some willpower to get the most out of it. And despite that, there are times when some races just seem too easy while others are too hard. With a game this deep you have to cut PD some slack for not getting everything perfectly balanced.
