Can someone tell me how the specs for the ECU Tuning state, and I quote “Change the settings of the Electronic Unit to maximize power output.” Also stated in the Tuning Shop area in the Engine area that “you can also tune the ECU in order to better control a high performance engine” Excuse me but those statements sounds like I can adjust it like it were the suspension or the transmission. If my eyes don’t fool me those two items have a little adjustment knob next to their item specific attachment that pops up when you pick a particular mod for alteration.

Does anyone know of a way to actually adjust or use the tunability of the ECU Tuning or is that just another Stigs challenge?

Untuneable.

What the hell am I looking at?! FFS, is there a patch, no wonder I couldn't get online. Guess I should sign out of GT5 at least once a day. :)

I think there's a bit of confusion here. As far as I know there is no new update. The screenshot was a pre-GT5-release capture made by PD when the tuning shop looked different.

The describing text of the ECU tuning is a bit misleading. In fact, it is not adjustable.

I remember the old GT games having adjustable boost levels on the turbos, I'd kind of like to have that back, realistic or not, to get cars into restricted events on seasonal time trials and also some body weight packages in case a mod takes my car 4KG under limit, I can still retrofit it.

Even when there would have been an update....I mean...this menu actually looks quite nice, but the ECU would have become 50% more expensive :)

Those are pictures from before GT5 came out. They were likely press shots chopped together from pre-release bits.

The GT5 engine doesn't get down to the nitty gritty of timing, air/fuel mix etc.. so the ECU is basically just a straight HP boost and doesn't offer any variable tuning parameters.
